2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid

I was driving down the road without other vehicles nearby. There was no overpass nearby. I heard a deep, loud noise like a shotgun overhead. I opened my sliding sunroof cover and noticed that the entire window had spontaneously shattered (appeared pebbled throughout). The internal temperature of the car registered 101 degrees Fahrenheit. I kept the sliding panel closed and could hear pieces of the window detach as I drove home as the adhesive did not hold the window together. I contacted Toyota, and they mentioned that there was no recall for this. In looking online, it appears that others have experienced similar due to small defects in the glass that can spontaneously shatter. There was no warning and I have only opened the sunroof twice in almost 18 months of ownership, the last time at least a year ago.

The handshake between the Toyota Entertainment System, and the SiriusXM satellite, have a known issue. The metadeta is not being received upon start up of the vehicle, at least half the time the vehicle is turned on. This causes a "loading..." screen error on the SiriusXM screen. While music is playing just fine, the data feed never does load. This is occurring in various locations, even in open fields and parking lots with no obstructions of the sky. The vehicle has been seen by the dealership, screen shots have been shared, but no software patch has been issued to solve the "handshake" between the radio unit and SiriusXM satellites. The temporary solution is to hold down the power button and do a "soft reset" of the entertainment unit, which solves the issue until the vehicle is powered off and powered on again. This issue is widespread, and many owners of Land Cruiser, 4runners, Corollas and Grand Highlanders have experienced the same issue, with no solution in sight. Personally, this issue has been occurring for at least 16 months, and perhaps since I owned the vehicle. The dealership has hooked the vehicle up to diagnostic tools, but no error or fault codes are showing, which leads to believe this is purely a software bug with the metadate parser when the vehicle is first turned on.

Purchased a new 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser in September 2025. This SUV is prone to windshield damage due to its pitch angle. 4/16/2026 traveling on highway a flying road rock cracked the windshield. The windshield was replaced on 4/23/2026. On 4/25/2026, while traveling on highway another rock chipped the windshield. This seems to ba a defect and a potential hazard. I have also noticed that the windshield gets more bug/insect encounter than my other land cruisers (I have had 2002, 2006 and 2016 LC). This seems to be a major problem with the windshield. Web search seems to also confirm this defect with other newer/remodeled LC owners.

As I was driving with my family at normal freeway speeds, a loud explosion rang out from the top of vehicle. The sunroof glass exploded and fell onto us below. There was no other cars near us, and no overpass. When the glass exploded, it sounded like a bomb, and appeared pressure was the reason, as it exploded upward, leaving the shape of an exploded volcano on the top of the sunroof. No rock or other object could have caused this from the outside: the impact would have had to come from inside of the vehicle. The vehicle is currently at the dealership being inspected.
