In a 2024 Corolla the spiral cable (clock spring) is defective. It controls the airbag, cruise control, horn and more, so it is an important safety mechanism electrical part. Toyota USA is on back order for this part for at least a month, maybe two. This suggests to me that there is a widespread problem with defective Toyota Corolla spiral cables (clock spring) inside the steering wheel. People are driving around with this defective part while waiting for the part to arrive in the US, and will need to pay upwards of $1000 to have the defective part replaced.

I am filing a safety complaint for my 2024 Toyota Corolla because the infotainment screen intermittently goes black while driving. This is most dangerous when I am using GPS/navigation while driving. The screen has gone black while driving on busy highways at 60+ mph, leaving me without functional navigation. This creates a distraction and safety concern because I suddenly lose directions and may need to look at my phone or troubleshoot the screen while driving. The car has also had recurring phone connectivity issues. Sometimes my phone does not connect through Bluetooth or even when plugged in directly. However, the black screen while driving is the bigger safety issue. I contacted Toyota multiple times. Toyota reference number: #[XXX]. Toyota told me to take the car to the dealership, which I did many times while the vehicle was still under warranty. I took it to two different Toyota dealerships multiple times. They repeatedly said there was no issue because they could not duplicate it. They also blamed Fitbit devices connected to my phone, which did not explain the screen going black while driving. I sent Toyota and the dealerships videos of the issue. However, it is difficult and unsafe to record the screen failure while actively driving. I also contacted Toyota about lemon law concerns, case [XXX]. Toyota denied the claim. The vehicle is now out of warranty, but the screen still occasionally goes black while driving. This issue was reported multiple times during the warranty period and was never resolved. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Insurance Co. failed to investigate porperly and sold the car To Co-part without waiting for Probate forms to be complete for this vehicle and the Estate. We have discovered this car was an Avis fleet vehicle sold as 'new' at Beaver Toyota. I am requesting a federal investigation to determine if a mechanical or electronic defect caused this loss of control." I am reporting an ongoing safety issue involving the Skid Control ECU and loss of power break recall on my 2024 Toyota corolla hybrid. The first time, my vehicle experienced loss of power brake assist and displayed a “Hybrid System Malfunction” message on screen. I towed my car to Toyota, confirmed it was related to the Skid Control ECU recall and repaired it under the recall at no cost, they did a software update. The second time, the exact same problem reoccurred. I had the vehicle towed again to a Toyota dealership, but this time, they refused to perform diagnostics unless I paid out of pocket for a 12-volt battery replacement. The dealership stated they cannot confirm if the issue is recall-related until diagnostics are complete, but they also refuse to complete diagnostics without me paying first. My vehicle is currently undrivable and unsafe, and I rely on it for daily transportation and work. So they made my pay for this 12v battery to do the diagnostics and now they tell me it is not recall related but one of the relays not working, the repair will be cover under warrant but i had to pay for battery and rental cars . I believe Toyota is in violation of its obligations under 49 U.S.C. §30120, which requires manufacturers to correct recall-related safety defects free of charge. This issue leaves me without a vehicle and unable to verify that the recall has been properly resolved. I have opened a case with toyota brand engagement. I am requesting that NHTSA review this case and ensure that Toyota complies with recall repair requirements so my vehicle can be safely diagnosed and repaired without charge.

My vehicle stalled when pulling out into traffic. I lost power steering and electrical and the engine died. The vehicle had to be restarted to continue driving. I was going about 1 to 2 mph when the issue happened. The vehicle was in motion and stalled while other vehicles were in motion putting my safety at risk, had I been going any faster or if there was an increased amount of traffic. I reported the problem to the dealer service center, but they were unable to reproduce it. The vehicle was inspected by Toyota only, no police or insurance. When the issue happened, a warning light appeared on the dash similar to a circle with an exclamation mark inside. There were no messages and no other symptoms prior to the failure.

Experiencing a high-pitched whining/ringing sound from the air conditioning system. It is highly distracting and irritating, and basically prevents the use of some fan speed settings for extended durations due to the pain it causes. Many other Corolla owners are experiencing the same issue and Toyota refuses to take action in every case, saying the problem is "characteristic of the vehicle" or something to that effect. Issue is well-documented in this forum thread among other places. [XXX] See in particular post [XXX] for objective evidence of the sound and a probable root cause analysis. A particular chip resonates at about 15.7 kHz. I encourage you to put that frequency into an online tone generator to get an idea of the problem, although for some people, especially those who are older, sounds this high are inaudible like a dog whistle.
