I HAVE A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT I PURCHASED NEW FROM THE MILITARY CAR SALES IN ANSBACH, GERMANY. I FIRST EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM IN AUGUST 2012 WHEN THE CAR WOULD SHIFT IT WOULD SHUDDER. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT TO BE A FUEL PROBLEM BUT IT WAS NOT. AFTER A FEW MONTHS IT GOT WORSE. I WAS IN TRAFFIC DRIVING OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR SHUDDERED AND DID NOT GAIN SPEED AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED UNTIL I PUT THE CAR IN THE "S" GEAR SETTING AND MANUALLY DOWNSHIFTED TOE 2ND FOR MORE POWER. THAT WAS THE TEMPORARY SOLUTION WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY. WINTER DAYS PRESENT MORE ISSUES. I CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR RIGHT NOW BECAUSE ITS GETTING WORSE. MY PROBLEM IS THAT I HAVE PRESENTED THIS PROBLEM TO MY DEALER, THEIR MANAGEMENT, TOYOTA GERMANY IN MY LOCAL AREA BUT NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIGURE OUT THE FUNDING ISSUE FOR THE 60/60 WARRANTY (POWER TRAIN). I TRIED TO GET IT SETTLED BEFORE I HIT THE 60000 MILE MARK BUT I NEEDED THE CAR DAILY FOR WORK. I HAVE SINCE ARRANGED FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION USE AND I HAVE PARKED THE CAR AS OF TODAY FOR GOOD. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME $6000 TO REPAIR. I HAVE CHASED THIS SINCE I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA RAMSTEIN, GERMANY FOR THE INITIAL LOOK. THEY SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND PERHAPS IT WAS THE TRANS MISSION WHICH WOULD COST AT LEAST 3500 EUROS WHICH IS ABOUT $6000. THE ISSUE ALMOST CAUSED ME AN ACCIDENT IN TRAFFIC TWICE! I FOUND THROUGH THE ARMY AIR FORCE EXCHANGE CAR CARE CENTER. I TOOK THE CAR WHEN I EXPERIENCED MORE ISSUES AND THE TECH BULLETIN IS THE EXACT PROBLEM I AM EXPERIENCING. IT SAYS IN THE BULLETIN THAT IT IS COVERED BY THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY 60 MONTHS OR 60000 MILES. I EVEN PRODUCED THE TECH BULLETIN TO THE DEALER AND THE MECHANICS! I HAVE GONE TO THE DEALER BUT TO NO AVAIL THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO HELP ME. THEY TRIED BUT I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM IN OVER A MONTH. I NEED A CAR!!! *TR

ON JAN 31, 2012 AFTER THE LUNCH BREAK, I WAS PARKING MY CAR PER USUAL IN MY OFFICE PARKING LOT WHICH I PURCHASED ON DEC 27, 2011(1 MONTH, 4 DAYS OLD). I COMPLETELY SLOWED DOWN AND APPLYING BRAKE AND RELEASING TO PARK THE CAR IN THE RIGHT WAY. THE CAR CAME TO A STAND STILL A LITTLE BEHIND (BY FEET) FROM THE LOT. SO, I THOUGHT OF MOVING THE CAR LITTLE BIT FORWARD TO PARK CORRECTLY. WHEN I STEPPED ON ACCELERATION WITH VERY MINIMAL IMPACT, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED (UNINTENDED) AND HIT THE MOBILE TRAILER WHICH IS IN FRONT. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE CAR WHICH COSTS $3000 TO REPLACE FRONT HOOD, BUMPER, FIX THE FRONT DOOR WHICH WAS DAMAGE. THIS INCIDENT ALSO DEPRECIATED THE VALUE OF MY CAR, INCREASED BY INSURANCE PREMIUMS WHICH I AM PAYING FOR TILL DATE. I HAD TO PAY $1000 OUT OF MY POCKET. DUE TO THE SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE, I HAD TO GO THROUGH A VERY TOUGH TIME.IT ALL HAPPENED WITHIN A SECOND AND HORRIFYING. TILL TODAY, I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED BECAUSE I AM VERY CAUTIOUS IN DRIVING AT ALL TIMES. I HAVE HAD DRIVING EXPERIENCE FOR 3 YEARS BEFORE THIS INCIDENT WITHOUT ANY INCIDENT. IF YOU NEED MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS INCIDENT, YOU CAN CONTACT ME ON MY EMAIL, CELL PHONE. *TR

SAFETY IS A GREAT CONCERN TO ME AND MY FAMILY AND HOPE THAT TOYOTA DOES THE RIGHT THING AND MAKES SURE TO PROVIDE US AN ANSWER AND REPAIRS OUR VEHICLE. *TR

A RATTLE OR POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE MOONROOF ABOVE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. ON 2/7/13 A REPAIR WAS MADE AND WAS TOLD THAT WELDING DEBRIS WAS FOUND ON A CONTACT POINT IN THE MOONROOF. REPAIR STATED THAT THE MOONROOF MOUNTINGS WERE CLEANED AND THE MOONROOF WAS RE-TORQUED. AFTER THE REPAIR WE HEARD A CREAKING SOUND ON OCCASION WHEN MAKING TURNS AND ON ROUGH ROADS BUT DIDN'T FEEL IT WAS BAD ENOUGH TO TAKE BACK FOR REPAIR. NOW A YEAR LATER ON 3/3/14, THE NOISE HAS RETURNED AND TOOK IT IN AGAIN FOR REPAIR. WAS TOLD THAT PLASTIC SHIMS HAD TO BE ORDERED AND THAT THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THEY COME IN. I'LL TAKE MY CAR IN AGAIN WHEN THE PARTS ARRIVE AND LET THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT RE-ATTEMPT TO MAKE THE REPAIR AGAIN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH ALL 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY'S. IF YOU GOOGLE MOONROOF POPPING OR RATTLING ON 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY'S, YOU'LL FIND THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM THAT TOYOTA IS HAVING WITH THEIR MOONROOF. HOPEFULLY, THE NEXT REPAIR RESOLVES THIS PROBLEM. *TR

IT HESITATES AND SLIPPING, AND ITS BEEN MORE THAN COUPLE OF TIMES THAT I ALMOST HIT OTHER CARS OR THEY ALMOST HIT ME ON THE REAR BECAUSE THE CARS STAYS IN NEUTRAL. WE'VE BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP MORE THAN SIX TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THEY CANNOT FIND THE ISSUE BECAUSE THE COMPUTER IS NOT GIVING THEM ANY CODE. WE DROVE IT WITH THE SHOP FOREMAN OF THE DEALERSHIP AND HE SAID HE FELT IT TOO BUT DIDN'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING BECAUSE HE DIDN'T GET A CODE ON THE COMPUTER. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ADJUSTED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND IT HELPED FOR A WEEK BUT THE PROBLEM COMES BACK AGAIN. ME AND MY FAMILY DON'T FEEL SECURE USING THIS CAR WHICH IS ALMOST NEW AND NOBODY DO NOTHING ABOUT, EVEN WHEN WE HAVE WARRANTY. *TR

ON 02-18-2014, I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 55 AND THE SUNROOF/MOONROOF ON MY 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT APPARENT REASON, IMPLODED. BECAUSE I HAD THE SUNROOF SHADE OPEN, GLASS FLEW INTO THE CABIN OF THE CAR. FORTUNATELY, ALTHOUGH I COULD FEEL GLASS STICKING IN MY FOREARM AND PALM, I WAS NOT CUT AND THERE WERE NO OTHER PASSENGERS IN THE CAR. ALSO, TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND I DID NOT CRASH AS A RESULT OF IT. WHEN THE GLASS BROKE, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION. THE SITUATION COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I HAVE SEARCHED IN AND AROUND MY CAR BUT HAVE NOT FOUND ANY OBJECT THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS DUE TO A DEFECT IN EITHER THE SUNROOF OR THE GLASS. LAST APRIL, TOYOTA HAD TO ADJUST MY SUNROOF BECAUSE IT WAS RATTLING. THE REPAIR INCLUDED ADDING SOME SHIMS TO IT. I WAS TOLD THAT BY THE TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE SUNROOF RATTLE WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL CAR. I BELIEVE THAT THE SUNROOF WAS DEFECTIVE. *TR

13V442000 · Air Bags; Electrical System; Equipment:appliance:air Conditioner

Oct 17, 2013

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Avalon, Avalon HV, Venza, Camry, and Camry HV vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the drain hose for the air conditioning condenser may become clogged causing water to accumulate at the bottom of the air conditioning condenser unit housing. The accumulated water may then leak through a seam in the housing onto the air bag control module potentially resulting in a short circuit of the module.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A short circuit may cause the air bags to become disabled or inadvertently deploy. An inadvertent airbag deployment can increase the risk of injury or the possibility of a crash. An inoperative airbag can increase the risk of injury in a severe crash. The power steering assist could also become inoperable resulting in increased steering effort and can increase the risk of a crash at low speeds.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will seal the air conditioning condenser unit housing and install a protective cover on the airbag control module, free of charge. The recall began on February 5, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
