The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the vehicle jerked while accelerating from a complete stop. Additionally, the vehicle intermittently failed to start, with the ABS warning light displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for repairs, but the failure reoccurred shortly after the repair. The contact stated that while attempting to shift into drive(D), the transmission remained stuck in neutral(N) with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle rolled forward while the vehicle was parked, turned off, with the parking brake engaged. The contact placed trash bins in front of the vehicle to prevent the vehicle from rolling. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure, and the vehicle remained unrepaired. The failure mileage was 127,990.

I bought my car in October 2009. I did not discover until years later that the pistons for the 2009 Toyota Camry Le did not fit correctly. This caused oil consumption problems, but it did not start happening until a 3-year warranty and at about 60-70 thousand miles. I did not get a notice of recall notice of Toyota's resolution to the problem, because they had the wrong apartment number and email address which I was told by Rep. Sherry and Rose at Toyota Corporation. Rep. said she was sending information to higher up at the corporation instead she sending it to the dealership. I did not get notice of a class action suit/resolution, trotter body, or melting dashboard. I have paid at least $6-7 thousand to dealerships workmanship is bad. I need help!! Because I did not get notices Toyota should fix and compensate me for repairs. Also, they replaced my hold break system because they assumed the shrieking noise was the break. This was done without my permission. I had to replace the axle they replaced less than a year ago. I am frustrated. I can not pay out any more money. My car stopped working on [XXX] I had to have it told to the dealership in Mamaroneck. Rep Sherry told me the trotter body is on recall until 2026, dealership is saying no. ON DECEMBER 3, 2017, MY HUSBAND WAS PARKING OUR 2009 CAMRY ON A CITY STREET WHEN WE EXPERIENCED THE TERRIFYING UNINTENDED ACCELERATION PROBLEM THAT HAS PLAGUED THIS MODEL ' AND WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED BY THE FLOOR MAT AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL RECALLS. AS MY HUSBAND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE TO MOVE SLIGHTLY FORWARD IN THE PARKING SPACE, THERE WAS A LOW ROARING, RACING MOTOR-TYPE SOUND FROM THE GEAR BOX/TRANSMISSION AREA AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. BRAKING COULD NOT STOP THE CAR AND IT DROVE INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF US. BECAUSE WE WERE MOVING AT LOW SPEED THERE WAS NO SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO EITHER CAR. BUT THERE WAS PERMANENT DAMAGE TO OUR TRUST IN THE SAFETY AND RELIABILITY OF OUR 2009 CAMRY, WHICH WE VOWED NEVER TO DRIVE AGAIN. I ALSO FOUND THAT THERE WAS PINK POWDER RESIDUE ON THE ENGINE NEAR THE SERPENTINE BELT WHERE THE WATER PUMP IS LOCATED . DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE CARS BUILT FROM 2007-2009 CAMRYS HAD THE SAME ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY. SOME CARS HAD 10,000 MILES OR LESS WITH THE PROBLEM. ALSO FOUND OUT TOYOTA REPLACED THE WATER PUMPS ON THESE CAMRYS WITH A WATERPUMP BUILT FROM A DIFFERENT COMPANY. I FILLED THE RESERVOIR WITH COOLANT AND TOOK IT TO TOYOTA AND THEY SAID INDEED THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING. THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COSTS UNDER WARRANTY SINCE IT HAD EXPIRED. THERE WOULD BE NO COOLANT LEAKING UNDER THE CAR. DURING MANY OF THE OIL CHANGES THE TOYOTA TECHNICIANS WOULD ADD COOLANT AND TOP IT OFF AND NEVER MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT THE WATER PUMP LEAKING . I ONLY FOUND OUT BECAUSE I SAW THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY AND STARTED LOOKING FOR A LEAK. I BELIEVE TOYOTA KNEW THESE WATER PUMPS WERE DEFECTIVE , AND ONLY CHANGED IT FOR PEOPLE WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT THE PROBLEMS UNDER WARRANTY WITH A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER OF THE WATER PUMP FREE OF CHARGE . Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, 2005-2010 Avalon and Tundra, 2006-2008 Camry Solara, 2006-2010 Highlander hybrid, 2006-2011 Rav4 and Tacoma, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2007-2011 Camry hybrid, 2009-2010 Venza, 2010-2012 Prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 Camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 Corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. The electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If damaged, the copper strand heating element may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the seat heaters, free of charge, and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET number for this recall is SET16B.

Toyota Motor Company (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Tundra, Sequoia, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and Scion xB, 2008-2011 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2006-2011 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, and 2009-2010 Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. During the manufacturing of the Power Window Master Switch (PWMS), grease lubricant may have been inconsistently applied to the sliding electrical contacts.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the sliding electrical contacts are not protected by lubricant, debris and moisture that get into the switch may cause a short circuit and the switch assembly may overheat and melt, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the switch, applying a lubricant if no abnormality is found. If abnormality is found, the PWMS circuit board will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 20, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. During modification by SET to include accessories such as leather seat covers, seat heaters or headrest DVD systems, these vehicles may not have had the passenger seat occupant sensing system calibration tested. Without passing the calibration test, the occupant sensing system may not operate as designed.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the front passenger seat occupant sensing system is out of calibration, the front passenger airbags may not deploy or they may deploy inappropriately for the passenger's size and position. This could increase the risk of personal injury during the event of a vehicle crash necessitating airbag deployment.

Remedy: Southeast Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will test the sensitivity of the occupant detection sensors, and recalibrate them as necessary. The recall began on March 21, 2013. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota at 1-800-301-6859.

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Camry, Camry Hybrid, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Tundra, Sequoia, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Yaris, Scion xB, Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. The power window master switch assemblies in some of these vehicles were built using a less precise process for lubricating the internal components of the switch assemblies. Irregularities in this lubrication process may cause the power window master switch assemblies to malfunction and overheat.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the switch overheats, it may melt, possibly resulting in a fire.

Remedy: Toyota will notify its owners, and dealers will inspect the switch and apply a special grease that inhibits heat build up or replace any switch damaged by the defect, free of charge. Toyota owners that experience a problem with a switch should not attempt to make repairs, but should contact their Toyota dealer or the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331. General Motors will contact the Pontiac Vibe owners affected by this recall and GM dealers will inspect and repair switches as necessary. ALSO, DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY GENUINE TOYOTA OR LEXUS ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS WITH REDESIGNED ALL-WEATHER MATS, OR REPURCHASE THE PREVIOUS MATS FROM OWNERS WHO DO NOT WANT THE NEW ONES. ADDITIONALLY, SOFTWARE MODIFICATIONS WILL BE INSTALLED ON CAMRY, AVALON AND LEXUS ES 350, IS 350 AND IS 250 MODELS THAT WILL ENSURE THAT THE BRAKE OVERRIDES THE ACCELERATOR IN THE EVENT BOTH BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS ARE APPLIED.
