IllustrationTAKATA RECALL. I WAS DRIVING A 1992 TOYOTA CAMRY AND WAS GOING 38 MILES PER HOUR AND HAD A SEIZURE AND BLACKED OUT. I HIT A CAR HEAD ON AND THE AIRBAG DIDNT DEPLOY SO MY CHEST AND FACE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL EVEN THOUGH I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT. THE SEATBELT MALFUNCTIONED ALSO, THE PARAMEDICS HAD TO CUT IT OFF OF ME.

5 reportsTHE DRIVERS SEATBELT DOESN'T RETRACT. THIS STARTED QUITE A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO. I DON'T RECALL EXACTLY WHEN THIS FIRST OCCURRED, BUT IT'S A PROBLEM. I NEVER THOUGHT OF REPORTING IT BEFORE UNTIL I SAW AN ARTICLE IN THE NEWSPAPER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH ANOTHER TOYOTA.
CONSUMER SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT ON PASSENGER'S SIDE, ALSO, DRIVERS SIDE BELT WILL NOT GO BACK INTO RETRACTOR. *AK
THE SEAT BELTS IN THE REAR HAVE A DEFECT THAT CAUSES THEM NOT TO SECURE FORWARD FACING CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT PROPERLY. *AK
