2004 THOR TAHOE RECALL NOTICE REGARDING A PROBLEM WITH THE DEXTER AXLE. *MR THE CONSUMER CALLED THE DEXTER AXLE COMPANY AND GAVE THEM THE SERIAL NUMBER. DEXTER AXLE COMPANY COMFIRMED THAT THE DUAL AXLE OF THIS RV WAS RATED 6000 LBS. PER AXLE. THE CONSUMER THEN CALLED CARLISLE TIRE COMPANY WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE LT235/85R16, LOAD RANGE E TIRE HAVE A MAX LOAD PER TIRE OF 3042. THE CONSUMER RECENTLY HAD TWO BLOWOUTS OF THESE TIRES WITH LESS THAN 3000 MILES ON THEM. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THIS RV HAS SOME DESIGN FLAWS AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE ROAD (THOR CALIFORNIA RECALL CAMPAIGN NO. 150030). *NM

05V259000 · Power Train:axle Assembly

ON CERTAIN FIFTH WHEEL TRAILERS, UNDER EXTREME OR REPEATED EXTREME SIDE-LOADING OF THE AXLES, BENDING OF THE SPRING HANGERS MAY OCCUR.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: SEVERE BENDING OF THE AXLE HANGERS, POSSIBILITY LOSS OF TRAILER CONTROL WHILE TOWING, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF A VEHICLE CRASH COULD OCCUR.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPAIR WITH THE REQUIRED PARTS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 10, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THOR AT 888-697-8467.
