I WAS RIDING ALONG SIDE A SEMI-TRUCK WHEN THE DRIVER OF THE SEMI-TRUCK DECIDED TO CHANGE LANES. MY ASSUMPTION IS THAT THE DRIVER DID NOT SEE ME AND PROCEEDED TO CHANGE LANES. I TRIED TO SPEED UP AND THAT'S WHEN MY MOTORCYCLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SO IN ORDER FOR ME TO AVOID BEING RUN OVER BY THE TRUCK; I HAD TO BRING MY MOTORCYCLE TO AND ABRUPT STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WHAT I BELIEVE HAPPENED WAS THAT MY MOTORCYCLE SLIPPED OUT OF 2ND GEAR INTO NEUTRAL!!!

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FUEL HOSE THAT CONNECTS THE TWO METAL FUEL DELIVERY PIPES MOUNTED ON THE THROTTLE BODY MAY HAVE BEEN CLAMPED AT A LOCATION ON THE PIPES THAT IS NOT COMPLETELY ROUND, WHICH COULD ALLOW FUEL LEAKAGE TO OCCUR.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, LEAKED FUEL CAN CAUSE A FIRE, PRESENTING THE RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE ASSEMBLY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 6, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SUZUKI AT 714-572-1490.
