AFTER EXPERIENCING A SUDDEN DROP IN BRAKE APPLICATION, TRAILER WAS PUT IN REPAIR SHOP. WHEN THE BRAKES DRUMS WERE REMOVED IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TRAILER WAS EQUIPPED WITH A BRAKE PAD OF 1 X 3/4 ON A DRUM OF 2 X 1/4. THE FACTORY AT SOUTH GEORGIA CARGO L.L.C. ([XXX]) LOCATED IN PEARSON GA. AT 393 AUSTIN AVE. WAS NOTIFIED BY CALLING 912-422-3434. ADDITIONALLY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE AXLES - ALKO ([XXX]) AT 574-294-6651 IN ELKHART, IN. AND ALSO ( [XXX] ) 229-388-8886 IN TIFTON, GA. WERE NOTIFIED. ALKO IN ELKHART IN. CONFIRMED THE SPEC OF THE AXLE TO HAVE ONLY A 1 3/4 PAD WHEN INDUSTRY GUIDELINES CALLED FOR A PAD OF 2 1/4. ALKO COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE TRAILER HAD THOSE PADS. ALL PARTIES WERE ASKED TO MAKE RESTITUTION, BUT HAVE NOT. THE TRAILER MANUFACTURER ASSOCIATION IN OKLAHOMA WAS ALSO NOTIFIED. THE BBT IN THREE STATES WERE INVOLVED. THE TRAILERS CONTINUE TO BE MADE AND EQUIPPED WITH THESE INSUFFICIENT BRAKE PADS WHICH RESULT IN SEVERELY REDUCED BRAKING APPLICATION. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
