2019 Ram Ecodiesel 3.0. I was Driving back to work on Easter Sunday 2023 after visiting family. It was a 5 hour trip, I was halfway through when the engine started making a loud banging sound. I pulled over & the engine died and would not turn over. I am sure the engine threw a rod, two other driver stopped & asked if everything was ok because they could hear the engine noise from their cars when it happened. There were no check engine lights or messages before or during the engine failing. I had to get a tow truck & tow it to the nearest dealer. It has been at the dealer for 2 weeks, they still have not diagnosed a problem but said if it is the engine it is on backorder & they don't know when it will be fixed & they refuse to give me a loaner. The truck is still under powertrain warranty. Where is my consumer protection? It is beyond frustrating to pay big money for something & not have what you paid for. I bought the truck for reliable transportation & Ram refuses to give me another vehicle. I am still having to pay insurance & car tag fees for my truck while I wait for an answer from the dealer, I have no idea if they will warranty it or when the truck will be repaired. On a separate note there is also an open fuel pump recall on my truck that is close to a year old with no ETA on a fix. I did not purchase a vehicle with plans to never have the recall fixed, I had one RAM dealer in Laurel, MS tell me it was an unrepairable recall & they were not even interested in purchasing my truck or a trade in due to the recall before my engine failed.

Rear window seal is leaking which cracked the window frame allowing water to enter behind rear seat leaking onto the wireless control Module making it in operable. The vehicle would not start. This will become a safety issue when driving down the highway/local areas and you loose the module it shuts down the car no power at all. Power steering goes down breaks become more difficult to push. Chrysler knows about the leak but will not do anything. The suggested repair is to replace the rear window at $1600.00 and the Wireless Control Module. My vehicle had 26k miles on it and warranty ran out. I do have an extended Warranty but because the rear window was leaking the wireless control Module is not covered.

We bought this truck used around September of last year and it took a couple of months to start having issues. First, when we would turn the truck on and it would crank, we would hear an occasional knock in the rear end. Like something being reemed out. Recently, one two separate occasions, two separate days, we were going to town and all of a sudden the A/C stopped working and extremely hot air started blowing through the vents and we couldn't turn it off or anything. The knobs to turn off the AC didn't turn it off. The only solution was to pull over on the side of the road and kill the truck and then crank it again. I can only imagine if someone else has this truck and a baby or even elderly was sitting in the vehicle and it changed over like this, it would've suffocated them within minutes, the heat was hotter than heat on a vehicle ever thought about being. Also, our backup camera has had moisture in it after a rain and throws up green lines across the screen. It also has had electrical issues, the radio and whole display will sometimes cut off when the brake pedal is pressed. The radio sometimes cuts off on its own or won't turn off when the button is pushed and sometimes this causes distraction to the driver. There has been a rattle in the steering wheel since we have gotten it. Of course, we have taken it to the dealer from where we bought it because we paid for an extended warranty but they can never find an issue because it doesn't do it while in their presence, even though we have pictures of the malfunction. Also, recently we have noticed that the truck doesn't want to take the gas. It will click off the gas probably 3 or 4 times before we can get the truck filled.

While under warranty brought my vehicle to the dealer because I could not pump gas. The pump would continue to click off while fueling. Dealer told me that it may be the gas station that I'm going to and that they could not replicate the problem. Fast forward 6 months, the vehicle is now out of warranty and the problem has continued to the point where I can't put any fuel in. Brought it to another dealer and they said I need a new fuel pump and a new fuel tank at at cost of $2500. This should have been covered under the warranty but the first dealer was less than honest. I'm sure they knew what the issue was since there are numerous complaints similar to mine on this site. NHTSA should investigate and/or open a recall because RAM won't. This fuel issue isn't just related to the 2019 1500 but other years as well. Consumers are paying for repairs that RAM should be covering through the recall.

Our defrost system on windshield is only working on one side. First things first, the Vin number and the picture listed does not match our vehicle so I will be calling the the safety line to get it fixed. When googling the Dodge recalls. It popped up as a recall but I guess it’s not on our vin number dodge yet? Then the truck automatically started smelling like antifreeze. When driving it sometimes loses power to the gas pedal and starts to slow down! The back windshield started leaking the same day as the defrost malfunction. There is no dash signal when there’s low air in tires….. And depending on speed of the dodge started making like dying whale moaning sounds. When turning the truck off, it stops for a minute, but then it starts again. This truck only has 50,000 miles on it and it should not be tearing up this quick as it is. When pushing the push start on and off, it always goes into a cc mode instead of turning off Last but not least the gas tank is malfunctioning when you put the gas pump into the tank I think the gas is leaking out and you have to constantly reset the gas pump handle. Also, the tailgate is getting stuck and you cannot open it. I’m afraid it’s going to come open when driving. Thank you for your time. Hope to speak with you soon. When refueling, the fuel vapor recovery system causes the gas pump to shut off after only a couple seconds of pumping fuel. This happens continually while attempting to refuel. It takes 20-25 minutes to refill the tank. The dealership says they have to replace the whole fuel tank to fix this issue at a cost of over $1,800.

EA23001 · High Pressure Fuel Pump Failure

Opened Mar 17, 2023 · No close date supplied

Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Fuel System, Diesel:delivery:fuel Pump

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE21-021 on October 14, 2021, to investigate incidents alleging a stall/loss of motive power as a result of high-pressure fuel pump failures in certain model year (MY) 2019-2020 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 heavy duty trucks equipped with 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel engines. During the investigation, ODI sought to determine if the related defect allegation was limited in scope to the recalled population. After review of information request response materials from both FCA and BMW, NHTSA determined that sufficient information to identify a comprehensive recall population could not be produced by FCA and BMW.During the investigation FCA filed recalls 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087 which include vehicles not identified in the initial subject population by ODI. ODI also received recall 21V586, involving loss of motive power due to failed CP4 fuel pumps on certain BMW manufactured vehicles. An information request letter response received from BMW indicated that failed pumps on their vehicles were caused by an interaction between pump internal components and US market diesel fuel, leading to increased slip and eventual particle-generating wear surface. Additional work will be done to identify whether a similar root cause is associated with the FCA recalled population and if similar wear dynamics occur on pumps supplied to vehicle manufacturers other than those included in the recalled population.ODI has upgraded this investigation to an EA in order to 1) determine engineering specifications of internal pump components that are correlated with pump failure leading to loss of motive power or other safety related hazards, 2) identify vehicle populations equipped with alleged defective pump variants, 3) assess if vehicles equipped with alleged defective pump variants result in an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety and 4) gather and review any other relevant information related to high pressure fuel pump failure associated with the subject populations of recalls 21V586, 21V880, 21E094, 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087.Review of the above information will allow NHTSA to confirm root cause and recall remedy viability, and identify and evaluate vehicle populations equipped with pump components that may pose an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety. The ODI reports cited above can be reviewed at: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID using the following complaint identification numbers: 11257550, 11351441, 11361603, 11361616, 11365300, 11365426, 11365858, 11366401, 11372337, 11373793, 11374797, 11376793, 11377871, 11378173, 11384377, 11386063, 11387018, 11399710, 11402550, 11415339, 11418868, 11418870, 11427075, 11434276, 11436807, 11437226, 11437249, 11437273, 11437292, 11437294, 11437394, 11437399, 11437403, 11437405, 11437423, 11437528, 11437565, 11437579, 11437580, 11437590, 11437679, 11437744, 11437781, 11437842, 11437993, 11438006, 11438008, 11438121, 11438138, 11438155, 11438392, 11438629, 11439359, 11439879, 11440397, 11443030, 11446542, 11448163, 11453556, 11458918, 11460558, 11469337
