In August of 2024 I began receiving an error message in my vehicle stating "Service Electronic Breaking System" on the gauge cluster. I also noticed the dash lights indicating that the ABS and traction control were disabled. The vehicle remained in this state whenever the vehicle was running. While i was returning home from work i hit the breaks on the freeway and the breaks locked up and i began to slide due to the ABS not functioning properly. Thankfully there was no accident but obviously this is extremely unsafe and the vehicle cannot be driven in this condition. I made an appointment on August 26,2024 to have the vehicle inspected and serviced at the dealership where i purchased the vehicle. After some correspondence the service rep indicated that there were other vehicles in for service for the same issue. It is now 28 Jan 2025 as of the date of this submission and my vehicle has still been able to be repaired. After numerous inquires with the service department i was informed that the module in question was under Engineer Review at the manufacturer and they could not ship the part until that was complete. The ETA of completion has been pushed back several times ,everytime i enquire for an update and is currently projected at 19 February, I have also opened an inquiry with the manufacturer Ram Customer Care / Stellantis case for assistance and havent received much in the way of additional information or assistance.

While driving my truck with randomly loose power steering and this happens at all speeds. It will also make my dashboard go crazy move my dashboard measurement alol over the place like a haunted clock. It will also give me more messages such as service power steering, electronic throttle control, service shifter, service transmission, service airbags. This will then cause my car to not shift up or down a gear while driving. This will happen and then if I unplug my battery for 10 minutes or so it goes away and then will randomly come back same day or the next day. My power steering will go out whether I’m parked going 10 miles an hour or if I’m going 75 miles an hour which is a gigantic safety issue. My steering wheel will randomly lock up and my car with then to move left and right as it locks up. In addition the check engine will either light up or not light up and then will disappear. I did take my truck back to the dealership to where I purchased it and was not able to solve the issue they attempted to fix it for a total of 36 days two times of which they “fixed” it but then I’d be driving on the highway and it would be doing it all over again. This has been going on since October 21 2024 and is not safe to drive but don’t have a choice as it is my only means of transportation so I try to manage it the best I can. I see multiple posts online about the same thing I believe there needs to be a safety recall on this regarding the entire wiring system, the electronic power steering module or the electronic throttle module. This needs to be addressed.

Truck loses power when you accelerate at any various moments. Forces you to put it in park and then I'll have to restart the engine and then it'll drive normal like nothing happen. Power steering is a little hard which cruise control doesn't work when this is happening.

During colder weather the power steering does not work. Any time the temperature is below 65 the light blinks and there is no steering. Even after cleaning battery connections well and replacing the fuses it does not work. We were towing just fine in the afternoon then in the morning when we attempted to drive it was out!

About a year ago my vehicles auto traction , brake light and abs light illuminated. The warning that my vehicle gives when I turn it on and start is braking system needs serviced and electrical breaking system needs serviced. The code that shows in diagnosis is abs brake module needs replaced. My brakes have not been right. The part has been back ordered for over a year. There are no parts and my dealer and Ram answer is it’s under engineering review till January 15. The dealership answer is get one from the junk yard which they’re aren’t any. I wouldn’t feel confident driving my grand babies with used brake parts. I was in an accident today because of brake failure and thankfully I didn’t hurt anyone in the car in front of me.

ABS Modular is malfunctioning and recommended to be replaced. I have been waiting 1.5 years for this part and continue to be told it’s not available. My check engine light continues to be on and my car does not function as it should. The part is identified as needing to be fixed but no parts available. I’ve called multiple states and made over 100 calls over the year. I am stuck with a car not functioning correctly and told by RAM that I just need to wait. Thousands of people are waiting for this part I am told and other years have been recalled but not my year somehow. This is dangerous and my hands are tied. I am putting my family in danger daily driving or am out 20+k on a vehicle I can’t drive. This is ridiculous and not a decision I thought I’d have to make with a well known company like Ram.

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to stop and had the vehicle jumpstarted. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The contact advised the mechanic that the check engine warning light was illuminated for almost one year prior to the failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the check engine warning light had been illuminated. The contact called a dealer who advised the contact to bring the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test to be performed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,545.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L Diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 3, 2023. Some owner notification letters were mailed October 31, 2023. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a future date, anticipated July 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 2014-2019 Ram 1500 vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. A high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure may introduce internal debris into the fuel system, potentially resulting in fuel starvation.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the HPFP, and inspect and replace, if necessary, additional fuel system components, free of charge. Interim notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed July 21, 2022. Owner notification letters for were mailed for Jeep Grand Cherokee owners starting January 11, 2024. The side air bag inflatable curtain (SABIC) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace as necessary, the SABIC assemblies, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on October 4, 2021. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 1500 Classic Pickup trucks equipped with 3.0L Eco Diesel engines. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler may crack and allow pre-heated vaporized coolant to enter the EGR system. This mixture may combust inside the intake manifold.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Combustion in the intake manifold can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the EGR cooler, free of charge. Dealers will also inspect and, as necessary, replace the intake manifold. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks equipped with an 8 foot bed and a power locking tailgate. Chrysler is also recalling all 2013-2014 and 2018 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks built before April 1, 2018 with a 6 or 8 foot bed and a power locking tailgate. On August 29, 2019 Chrysler expanded the recall to include an additional 693,128 model year 2013-2014 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks. The tailgate actuator limiter tab may fracture and cause the tailgate to unlatch and open while driving.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the tailgate opens while the vehicle is being driven, cargo may fall out the vehicle and create a road hazard, increasing the risk of crash.
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will repair the tailgate latch, free of charge. The recall began May 23, 2019. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 Ram 1500 and 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab trucks manufactured August 26, 2013, to August 8, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) that may not fully overlap the C-pillars in the event of a vehicle crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: In the event of a vehicle crash, if a SABIC does not inflate as intended, there is an increased risk of injury to the rear seat occupant.
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, dealers will inspect the right and left side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) for proper orientation and a foil patch will be installed on both sides of the headliner. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE21-021 on October 14, 2021, to investigate incidents alleging a stall/loss of motive power as a result of high-pressure fuel pump failures in certain model year (MY) 2019-2020 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 heavy duty trucks equipped with 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel engines. During the investigation, ODI sought to determine if the related defect allegation was limited in scope to the recalled population. After review of information request response materials from both FCA and BMW, NHTSA determined that sufficient information to identify a comprehensive recall population could not be produced by FCA and BMW.During the investigation FCA filed recalls 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087 which include vehicles not identified in the initial subject population by ODI. ODI also received recall 21V586, involving loss of motive power due to failed CP4 fuel pumps on certain BMW manufactured vehicles. An information request letter response received from BMW indicated that failed pumps on their vehicles were caused by an interaction between pump internal components and US market diesel fuel, leading to increased slip and eventual particle-generating wear surface. Basis – On December 16, 2016, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE16-014 to investigate 43 vehicle rollaway incidents with operators alleging they had shifted to Park and then exited the vehicle prior to the rollway incidents. These complaints involved multiple Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) model and model year vehicles that share a common electronic rotary shifter design. Of the 43 consumer complaints, 25 complaints alleged crashes, and eight complaints alleged at least one injury. Subject Vehicles – When NHTSA opened the investigation, the subject vehicles were model year (MY) 2013-2016 Ram 1500 vehicles and MY 2014-2016 Dodge Durango vehicles equipped with a rotary electronic shifter. Furthermore, as discussed above, after FCA’s release of the CSN actions, consumer complaints have decreased significantly. On July 23, 2015, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) launched Safety Recall 15V-461 to remedy security vulnerabilities in approximately 1.4 million model year (MY) 2013 through 2015 vehicles equipped with Uconnect head units (HU) 8.4A (RA3 radio) and 8.4AN (RA4 radio) manufactured by Harman International.On July 24, 2015, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Recall Query, RQ 15-004, to investigate HU security vulnerabilities and remedy effectiveness in the recalled population and to determine whether similar units have been supplied for use in other FCA vehicles.In an August 11, 2015 letter, FCA submitted a second Part 573 safety recall report expanding the scope of the Uconnect RA4 model radio to include additional 7,810 MY 2015 Jeep Renegade vehicles manufactured from September 18, 2014 through June 25, 2015 (Recall 15V-508).Scope analysis indicated that Uconnect radios installed in FCA vehicles not included in recalls 15V-461 or 15V-508 (subject recalls) are not equipped with built-in cellular access or short range wireless communication features and, thus, do not contain the security vulnerabilities addressed by the subject recalls.
