My vehicle is included in the correct year range and shows the same symptoms as NHTSA ID Number: 16V911000. The airbag light is also on and I am worried that it will not operate properly in an accident. I contacted the local Nissan Dealer and they said there were no recalls on this vehicle. They also told me that no recalls had been completed on my vehicle. I am concerned that they either missed some VINs in the recall or that they have incorrect information. Nissan was not willing to help, I also contacted their Consumer Affairs.

The vehicle became inoperable at high speeds on the interstate, I-65. My husband was able to safely merge to the right shoulder to avoid any crashes. The car made some loud clunking sounds before all power was lost. The car was then towed to the nearest Nissan dealership. It took 3 business days for the dealer to look at the car. The entire engine needed to be replaced. The dealership was able to replace the engine and complete quality assessment/drive and this was completed 4/16/2026. Because this was part of a trip interruption, the dealership is over 150 miles away from my home. I am still not reunited with my car. I have been without this vehicle for 25 days.

The passenger compartment doors locking mechanism can fail to operate properly preventing access to the the car through the external handles and can cause hanging if inside the cabin requiring multiple pulls to get the door to unlock. When the lock toggles are not completely in the locked or unlocked position, the solenoid will still function but will not unlock/lock the problem door. If the door has the child lock is activated and the locking mechanism is bound up because of the toggle, this creates an entrapment issue if you don't know what is going on. The Navigation/Entertainment system randomly freezes in heavy traffic and screen goes blank in some instances. Hard reset by turning off car is required and works in some cases. This is a serious safety risk and could cause an accident resulting in injury or death. Nissan Corporate has been notified, initial response was that it needed to occur in front of a Nissan service center tech before they would consider fixing the system. (That is not possible when you are nowhere near a Nissan dealership, nor would you be able to navigate there with a frozen system. This problem has been reported by many Nissan owners and Nissan Corporate refuses to fix the problem There is a case opened at Franklin, Tn corporate. The 2020 Nissan rogue as I was driving, started smoking, then stalled. I immediately got out and popped the hood and there was flames everywhere. Entire engine bay burned. I saved the car from burning completely by dumping water. As I was in a national forest, that is very acceptable to wildfires. Fire department and fire investigator came out. Fire investigator said it was of his opinion that it started on the passenger side, electric cooling fan for the radiator. Which I agree after looking at the aftermath and noticing where to fire was coming from as I was putting it out.

I am reporting a recurring safety issue with the vehicle’s auto engine stop/start system. When the vehicle comes to a stop, the engine sometimes shuts off normally (other time only the auto-brakes engage, but engine stays on), but then the system behaves unpredictably. The engine attempts to restart with a violent jolt, causing the entire vehicle to shake. This occurs even when I am fully stopped with my foot on the brake. It feels like the vehicle is trying to lurch forward or restart against resistance. The issue is repeatable, happens in normal driving conditions, and creates a safety concern because the sudden jolt can startle the driver, cause unintended movement, or lead to loss of control in traffic. I believe this may indicate a defect in the auto‑engine‑stop system, engine mounts, starter system, or related control modules. Please investigate, as other owners may be experiencing the same unsafe behavior.

Three out of the four door lock actuators have gone bad. It’s the front driver side door, rear driver side door, and rear passenger side door. That’s not normal wear and tear, that’s a defect and it’s a safety issue.

Feb 16, 2023

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Rogue and 2017-2022 Rogue Sport vehicles equipped with a jackknife style ignition key. The jackknife key may collapse into a folded position while driving.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Driver contact with a key in the collapsed position could inadvertently shut off the vehicle while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, if the vehicle shuts off while driving, the air bags may not deploy in a crash as intended, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will insert a spacer into the key slot of the jackknife key, free of charge. Interim notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed March 29, 2023. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 30, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R22C5.

Remedy: Dealers will remove the harness tape and harness covering and replace both connectors and apply white lithium grease to the connectors as necessary, free of charge.
