1. On XXX (clear ), while parking a Hertz rental Nissan Rogue at a hotel parking lot in [XXX], the vehicle suddenly and violently accelerated forward without warning. Brake pedal application was ineffective. The vehicle jumped a stone barrier and sustained damage. I was terrified and sustained minor injuries. 2. This vehicle is equipped with the KR15DDT engine, which is the subject of NHTSA recall 26V081/26V080 for electronic throttle body gear fracture. The reported failure mode—low‑speed unintended acceleration and loss of braking—matches my experience exactly. The primary suspected failure is the electronic throttle body (ETC) and/or engine control system, as the engine produced uncontrolled power despite my foot on the brake. The braking system also failed to respond. 3. Although this vehicle's VIN is not currently listed under an open recall, known serious safety defects within the same engine family cannot be ruled out. Prior to renting this vehicle to us Hertz did not provide any evidence that they performed (PDI) or any other safety checks to ensure the vehicle was free from hazardous conditions. They also never informed us of any potential risks associated with this engine. I have repeatedly requested damage reports and itemized repair bills from Hertz, but they have consistently refused to provide any such documentation. Requests : 1. Include this vehicle in the ongoing defect investigation of KR15DDT engines to prevent further safety risks to drivers and the public. 2. Subpoena Hertz’s complete maintenance and service records for this vehicle to determine whether it was properly repaired and compliant with safety standards before being rented out. 3. Obtain the official damage assessment and repair documentation to establish the true cause of this incident—a routine parking maneuver that unexpectedly turned into a dangerous crash. We don't want anyone else to encounter similar safety incidents. Please contact me via email. Tks INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION A
