The vehicle experienced multiple incidents of unintended/sudden braking without an obvious hazard present. Approximately six weeks ago, while traveling eastbound through downtown [XXX] , with children in the vehicle and traffic behind me, the vehicle abruptly engaged braking on its own, causing a sudden slowdown and creating a potential rear-end collision hazard. A second similar incident occurred a few weeks later while slowly pulling into a Target Drive-Up parking space, where the vehicle again unexpectedly braked without driver command. The issue appears possibly related to the automatic emergency braking/forward collision avoidance system, although the exact cause is currently UNKNOWN. No collision occurred, but the unexpected braking created a significant safety concern for vehicle occupants and surrounding traffic. The vehicle has also experienced ongoing electrical-related issues, including repeated “No Key Detected” warnings despite prior dealership reprogramming/rekeying attempts involving both the keys and vehicle system. The Bluetooth/radio system has also repeatedly malfunctioned despite dealership updates and/or repairs. To date, the issues appear intermittent and progressively worsening. The vehicle has been serviced previously by dealership personnel for some of the electrical/key-related concerns. The exact root cause has not yet been identified or confirmed. Replaced sensors, cameras, emblem, checked wiring, recalibrated, multiple diagnostic test all done by more than one person. No one can figure it out even after replacing and testing it’s still happening. Insurance deemed it a coincidence that this started happening after I hit the deer and said problem is not from hitting the deer.

Randomly when driving, the pedestrian crossing message will show in the dash and the brakes will kick on. It's happened too many times. The Nissan logo has been cleaned and the radar sensor does not have any fault codes showing. But the emergency brake will kick on and it has almost caused accidents.

Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, I experienced a sudden and severe brake system failure that created an immediate safety hazard. While driving at low speed, the brake pedal traveled to the floor with little to no braking response. The vehicle could not decelerate normally and required significantly increased stopping distance, placing me and other motorists at risk of a collision. Following the incident, the vehicle was evaluated by an independent service provider. Diagnostic results indicated a brake fluid level fault, and findings were consistent with a failing master cylinder and/or internal hydraulic brake system malfunction. Although the brake fluid reservoir appeared full, braking performance was critically compromised, indicating an internal failure rather than routine wear or maintenance. There were no warning lamps, messages, or alerts prior to the failure. No brake warning light or other indication of reduced braking capability was present. The failure occurred without advance notice, eliminating any opportunity for preventive action by the driver. The vehicle had recently passed a state safety inspection and was represented as roadworthy at the time of sale. A vehicle with an internal hydraulic brake failure or compromised master cylinder should not pass inspection or be certified for use on public roads. Due to the seriousness of the defect and the immediate safety risk, the vehicle was returned to the dealer. Prior to return, no tow assistance was provided despite the known brake defect, requiring limited operation of a vehicle with unsafe braking capability and further increasing public safety risk. The defective condition was confirmed by an independent source and was reproducible in that braking performance was unreliable. Although the vehicle has been returned, this incident raises concern that similar vehicles may experience sudden brake failure without warning, posing a serious crash and injury risk to the public.

While driving at approximately 15–20 mph, my vehicle suddenly started beeping and displayed a quick warning message on the dashboard before the brakes locked up on their own. The incident lasted only a few seconds, but it was extremely alarming. This same issue has now happened twice, both times in the exact same location on the same road, driving at about the same speed. The first incident was roughly around [XXX], the second incident was [XXX]. On both occasions, I had my [XXX] twin daughters in the car with me, and it frightened all of us. Thankfully, there were no vehicles directly behind me either time, otherwise it could have resulted in a rear-end collision. I believe there were cars ahead of me, but they were far enough away that I don’t think they triggered the sensors. Both times it was sunny, dry weather, and the road conditions were normal—no rain, no slick surfaces, and no obstacles in front of me. I am not sure if sunlight could have affected a sensor, but it appears to be related to the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system or another electronic braking malfunction. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer, but I plan to have it checked as soon as possible. In the section where it asks for the date, it's happens randomly since I bought it. Whenever I've taken it to my mechanic they have not been able to reproduce it. The emergency braking system has activated with nothing around. It's in the dealers now. It was listed as a recall on a RI safety but not associated with my vin so the nissan dealer is saying that it's not covered under recall because it shows only the brake recall. the software update is costing me 169. He says that it should fix both problems.

My car has been hacked electronically. I've reported this to Nissan, and to the NIssan dealership at the 60,000 mile check-up. My safety has been impacted through the brakes coming on automatically (I just had them serviced - hopefully this will help), but if there is an electrical component, it may be tied into the navigation system as well. I do Door Dash, and at certain times, I've had my phone navigation fail, and then my car navigation fails for no reason. If one system fails, okay, because I have Google Maps on my phone and also car navigation. When all three aren't working at the same time - it is a targeted effort. There are also loud noises coming from the car speakers, I'm unsure if there is an issue with Nissan Connect? I'll give an approximate date, but these are happening multiple dates.

This is consistent with me going to Houston about once a month, and I've driven elsewhere fine. I've driven throughout North TX, and to Louisiana, but every time without fail, my car gets the AEB sensor light. PE19010 · False Automatic Emergency Braking

Opened Sep 9, 2019 · No close date supplied

Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking

NHTSA received a defect petition (DP19-001) from the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) on March 21, 2019 alleging that the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system on Model Year (MY) 2017-2018 Nissan Rogue and Rogue Sport vehicles was engaging in cases where there was no obstruction in the path of the vehicle. The CAS petition additionally alleges that, based on Nissan's actions, the manufacturer is aware of the issue due to issuing a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) launching two "Quality Actions," and initiating a "Customer Service Initiative" in relation to it. CAS contends that Nissan's actions do not represent an adequate long-term solution to the problem, as the action is only available during the basic coverage period of the warranty. CAS also argues that the alleged failures are an unreasonable risk to safety and views Nissan's communications as not acknowledging the potential safety issue involved, instead treating the alleged problem as a performance update. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) analyzed Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) complaints received from consumers and identified a total of 129 unique subject vehicle reports (for all submission dates) alleging a false positive triggering of AEB. Of these complaints, three were identified that contained allegations of a collision resulting from the activation of the system, and all three indicating related injuries. In response to ODI's April 15, 2019 Information Request letter, Nissan provided data indicating that it has received 750 unique subject vehicle complaints relating to false positive activation of the AEB system. Of these complaints, 12 were identified that contained allegations of a collision resulting from the activation of the system. Four complaints contained allegations of injuries, three of which were the result of a collision. These complaints included duplicates of complaints that ODI received. The injury allegations were limited to soft tissue type injuries such as whiplash and bruising.Based on its review of the information identified to date, ODI has granted the petition and is opening this preliminary evaluation in order to evaluate the cause, scope and frequency of AEB false positive activations, as well as to evaluate the suitability of the manufacturer's campaign to address the concern or improve performance of the AEB system. The complaints cited can be viewed at NHTSA.gov under the following ODI identification numbers: 11230875, 11230481, 11230361, 11229400, 11229302, 11229294, 11228994, 11223074, 11222925, 11222644, 11220499, 11218713, 11218608, 11217157, 11210334, 11210256, 11210148, 11209127, 11209032, 11207333, 11205931, 11205717, 11205661, 11205172, 11205124, 11205027, 11204803, 11204349, 11204324, 11196805, 11196561, 11196466, 11196091, 11195938, 11195574, 11194380, 11193989, 11192761, 11192283, 11192063, 11190855, 11190840, 11189976, 11187374, 11186903, 11185890, 11185883, 11185132, 11183406, 11180813, 11174713, 11173666, 11173302, 11172299, 11171331, 11170989, 11165434, 11164646, 11162898, 11162502, 11162396, 11161413, 11161230, 11155985, 11155209, 11155181, 11154181, 11153607, 11153334, 11151373, 11151028, 11142595, 11142557, 11142386, 11141775, 11141433, 11141387, 11141347, 11140604, 11139711, 11139226, 11133402, 11132376, 11130998, 11130662, 11129949, 11128704, 11124099, 11123564, 11123353, 11123321, 11122783, 11119475, 11119300, 11118604, 11115088, 11113479, 11113371, 11112371, 11111659, 11111057, 11110919, 11110689, 11104075, 11103844, 11103437, 11102715, 11102333, 11100117, 11099313, 11091006, 11089960, 11089798, 11089533, 11088815, 11088718, 11081072, 11079453, 11073644, 11072718, 11065505, 11061598, 11057739, 11056061, 11055766, 11048349, 11035301, 11033225, and 10972343.
