AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD NO CUT OFF CAUSING ISSUES WITH AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. I WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR MODEL YEARS 2014-2017 FOR SAME ISSUE BUT NOT FOR MY VEHICLE (2013).

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID A CRASH. THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG, FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG, AND CURTAIN AIR BAGS ABRUPTLY DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN NISSAN DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS PRESENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
A LITTLE OVER 2 MONTHS OF BUYING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED A LIGHT ON THE DASH BROAD SO I BOUGHT IT IN TO BE SERVICED ONLY TO FIND OUT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG CLUTCH. AS LONG AS THE MOTOR WAS RUNNING THE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOUCHER NISSAN OF WAUKESHA (1451 E MORELAND BLVD, WAUKESHA, WI 53186 (262) 542-5500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO COVER HALF OF THE REPAIR COST; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMAINING BALANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2008-2013 Nissan Rogue vehicles manufactured March 7, 2007, to November 26, 2013, and 2014 Nissan Rogue Select vehicles manufactured September 23, 2013, to July 2, 2014. The affected vehicles may experience an electrical short in the harness connector due to a mixture of snow/water and salt seeping through the carpet on the driver side floor near the harness connector.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An electrical short can cause a vehicle fire.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the kick panel wiring harness connector and will if necessary install a new harness connector and waterproof seal, free of charge. The recall began on February 26, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
