ONCE MY CAR FINALLY DIED I WAS FORCED TO REPAIR ON MY OWN WITH NO HELP FROM NISSAN. I WAS TOO FAR OVER MILES TO BE INCLUDED IN THEIR "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" WHICH ONLY COVERED COST OVER $3,000 AND UNDER 100,000 MILES. I SPENT $4,360.00 OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION AND BYPASS RADIATOR. *TR

WHEN I BROUGHT IT BACK MONTHS LATER THEY TOLD ME I HAD LOW OIL IN ENGINE AND COMBINED WITH I WAS PAST THE 60,000 WARRANTY NOW (67,861) THAT I WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY KNEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM AND CLAIMED THAT I HAD NO RECORD OF IT BEING A PROBLEM SINCE THEY COULDN'T "FIND" ANYTHING WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THE FIRST TIME. TWO DEALERSHIPS TOLD ME THAT IT WAS JUST A NOISE WHEN IN FACT NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE THIS WHOLE TIME. I WAS TOLD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF WHICH WAS ABOVE $1,500.00. *TR

MY 2007 PATHFINDER HAS BEEN SHIFTING ROUGH AND SOUNDS LIKE I AM DRIVING ACROSS "RUMBLE STRIPS" USED ON THE ROAD TO KEEP DRIVERS AWAKE. I WENT TO THE DEALER TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE. AFTER THEY CHECKED THE CAR OUT THEY TOLD ME I HAD POWER STEERING FLUID IN MY RADIATOR AND COOLANT IN MY POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY. WHEN I ASKED HOW THAT COULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN, THE TECH TRIED TO ASSURE ME THAT THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN RADIATOR LINES FAIL. I TOLD THEM I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT AND WANTED TO KNOW HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN. THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $5,250.00 TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR. THE SERVICE TECH AND SERVICE MANAGER ACTED LIKE THEY KNEW NOTHING AND SUGGESTED I CALL NISSAN NORTH AMERICA...I DID. THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE I HAD REPORTED MY ISSUE TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU MY CASE WAS SENT TO THE ARBITRATION DEPARTMENT. THE ARBITRATION GUY CALLED AND TOLD ME MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT NISSAN HAS KNOWN OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2005. NISSAN LOST A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THE REMEDY WAS TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR 100,000 MILES. I'M CONFUSED BECAUSE I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A MANUFACTURER CAN WARRANTY AWAY A DEFECT. FROM MY RESEARCH THE AVERAGE MILEAGE FOR THIS PROBLEM IS 112,000 MILES. MY CAR IS SLOWLY BECOMING NON DRIVABLE. I ACCELERATED OUT OF A PARKING LOT BUT THE CAR MOVED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND STARTED RUMBLING BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ANY FURTHER. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. WHY IS THE CONSUMER RESPONSIBLE FOR A KNOWN DEFECT? ISN'T A WARRANTY FOR PARTS THAT ARE MANUFACTURED CORRECTLY? *TR

I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. I WAS DRIVING IT TO WORK AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I JUST FELT MY CAR`S ENGINE IS HAVING A HEART ATTACK, - A MYOCARDIAL INFRACTION. THEN IT STARTED CHOKING MINUTE BY MINUTE. BY THEN I KNEW MY SILVER 2007 PATHFINDER IS TURNING BLUE. GOTTA CALL THE CODE BLUE TEAM. I AM A NURSE SO THIS IS THE ONLY WAY I CAN EXPLAIN WHAT I THINK WHAT'S GOING ON RATHER THAN MECHANICALLY. THE CAR IS 7 YEARS OLD, ALWAYS USED PREMIUM GAS, USE SYNTHETIC OIL ON IT, ALWAYS TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC CHECK UP AND MAINTENANCE, ONLY 63,000 LESS MILEAGE, I'M THE SOLE DRIVER. GOT IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, GOT DIAGNOSED BY MECHANIC AND TOLD ME THAT THE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEM IS SCREWED, AND EVENTUALLY DAMAGED THE PISTONS, THEN THERE WAS SOME LEAKAGE....THEY ASKED ME $4,100 FOR THE REPAIR. THIS EXPENSIVE REPAIR COST IS VERY UNEXPECTED AND NOT MY PRIORITY RIGHT NOW CAUSE I HAVE OTHER MORE IMPORTANT TO SPENT IT WITH. AND READING "NISSAN NORTH AMERICA NAMED IN CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ALLEGING FAILURE TO DISCLOSE DEFECT IN TIMING CHAIN SYSTEMS WHICH RESULTS IN PREMATURE FAILURE". NISSAN NEVER ISSUED A RECALL AND NOW THE CONSUMERS HAS TO PAY COSTLY REPAIRS. I PAID $4,480 SOMETHING. *TR

I AM A VERY LOYAL NISSAN/PATHFINDER OWNER. I'M ON MY SECOND PATHFINDER AND ALWAYS HAVE MY BELOVED 2007 SERVICED REGULARLY AT THE PUYALLUP NISSAN DEALERSHIP. BECAUSE I RELY ON MY VEHICLE FOR WORK, I MAKE SURE TO KEEP IT CURRENT WITH ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICES OVER THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. UNTIL RECENTLY, IVE BEEN AN EXTREMELY SATISFIED PATHFINDER OWNER. NOW, I AM QUITE UPSET THAT A KNOWN DEFECTIVE RADIATOR NOTICE I RECEIVED APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AGO, ADVISED TO DO NOTHING IF EXPERIENCING NO PROBLEMS, BUT NOW THAT I'M OVER THE LIMIT OF 100K MILES (115K), AND EXPERIENCING THE KNOWN RADIATOR DEFECT ISSUE, I AM NOW ON THE HOOK FOR THE ENTIRE REPAIR COST ($5000). I'VE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE WHICH CAN BE SUMMARIZED AT HTTP://WWW.NISSANPROBLEMS.COM/PROBLEMS/TRANSMISSION.SHTML WHAT DOES THE MILES MATTER? DOES NISSAN'S OBLIGATION TO THEIR PRODUCT AND CUSTOMER DISAPPEAR AFTER 100K MILES? WHY DIDN'T NISSAN RECOMMEND REPLACING THE RADIATORS, AS A PREVENTATIVE MEASURE? FURTHER RESEARCH OF TESTIMONIALS FROM OTHER NISSAN OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE, SUGGESTS THAT THE RADIATOR PROBLEM SEEMED TO TYPICALLY OCCUR AFTER 100,000 MILES ANYWAYS. SO HOW IS IT THAT NISSAN IS OK WITH LEAVING THEIR CUSTOMER HOLDING ON TO THE (CRUD) END OF THE STICK? I SURE HOPE I AM REIMBURSED FOR THE HEFTY BILL SOME WAY SOME DAY. (I'VE NOT YET PULLED THE TRIGGER ON HAVING THE REPAIRS DONE, AS I HAVE BEEN CONTEMPLATING TRADING IN AND GIVING THE PROBLEM BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT HOW WILL THIS AFFECT THE TRADE IN VALUE, AND IF NISSAN'S PAST REPUTATION IS DIMINISHING, WHY DO I WANT TO TRADE IN FOR ANOTHER NISSAN. MY PASSION FOR PATHFINDERS HAS SUDDENLY DROPPED CONSIDERABLY...TIME FOR A NEW BRAND MAYBE.....:-((((( VERY DISGRUNTLED PATHFINDER OWNER, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
