THEN THE CAR WOULD STALL WHEN YOU WOULD TRY TO TAKE OFF AT A STOP, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE UNTIL YOU WOULD TURN THE CAR OFF AND CRANK IT AGAIN. AS YOU WOULD PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. THEN EVEN WITH THE CAR OUT OF OVERDRIVE WHILE AT SPEEDS AT 55 MPH OR HIGHER THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT WORK, YOU WOULD HAVE TO LET OFF ON THE ACCELERATOR AND WAIT ON THE RPM'S TO DROP AND THEN IT WOULD GO INTO GEAR AGAIN.I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE ADVISED THE TROUBLE WAS IN A SOLENOID IN THE TRANSMISSION. I TOOK THE CAR TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP, THEY CHECKED THE FLUID AND SAID THERE WAS WATER IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, CAUSED BY A COOLANT LEAK FROM INSIDE OF RADIATOR GETTING INTO THE TRANSMISSION LINES CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO GO BAD DUE TO COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION. *JS

OTHER TIMES IT WOULD CONTINUE TO SHAKE. AFTER REPEATED VISITS TO THE MECHANICS AND NEW TIRES, ROTATIONS, BRAKES AND BALANCING, WE DECIDED TO GO TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP. THEY DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS COOLANT THAT HAD MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. AS A MATTER OF FACT HE HAD 5 NISSAN PATHFINDERS ON HIS LOT WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER MULTIPLE SEARCHES, WE DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF ENTRIES OF PATHFINDER OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. EVENTUALLY, THE CAR STARTED TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO NISSAN IN MY TOWN AND CONTACTED CORPORATE. I WILL BE FILING A CIVIL SUIT IF THEY DO NOT AGREE TO PAY AND FIX MY CAR THAT I HAVE HAD FOR ONLY 3 YEARS. *TR

THIS IS NO DOUBT A MANUFACTURES DEFECT AS THERE WAS NO WAY TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING OR KNOWING FOR SURE WHEN IT DID. THIS SUV HAS BEEN MAINTAINED BY PROFESSIONALS AND THEY DID NOT CATCH IT, I BELIEVE NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS BASED ON ACTIONS THEY HAVE TAKEN AND NOW SHOULD HAVE TO REPAIR THESE VEHICLES. *TR

WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE ASSEMBLY THAT INVOLVED A RECALL. UNFORTUNATELY FOR US, WE MISSED THE RECALL BY LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT NISSAN KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM, THEN ARBITRARILY CHOSE A DATE WHEN THE RECALL WOULD END THAT WOULD SATISFY THE NHTSA, BUT NOT FULLY COVER THE PERIOD WHEN THIS PROBLEM COULD ARISE. LIMITING THIS RECALL BY DATE CAN PROVE TO BE EXTREMELY PREJUDICIAL TO THE CUSTOMER THAT PURCHASES THE VEHICLE LATER IN THE YEAR; FOR EXAMPLE, PURCHASING THE CAR IN NOVEMBER 2006 VERSUS JANUARY 2006 WOULD PLACE THE CONSUMER AT AN ELEVEN MONTH DISADVANTAGE. *TT

AFTER THAT, WHEN THE TANK WOULD REACH 1/2 FULL, THE GAUGE WOULD START ACTING CRAZY. ONE MINUTE IT WOULD READ 1/2 FULL, THE NEXT SECOND IT WOULD READ EMPTY AND MY GAS LIGHT WOULD COME ON. ALSO, AT HALF FULL DOWN TO ONE QUARTER FULL, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WOULD COME ON. WHEN I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE, I CALLED NISSAN TO INQUIRE, BUT WAS TOLD THAT DUE TO MY VIN # MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED. THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING WITH MY FUEL GAUGE IS EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE RECALL COVERED, AND THE PARTS THAT I HAD TO HAVE REPLACED ARE THE SAME PARTS THAT THE RECALL COVERED. I HAD TO PAY $300 TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED, WHEN OBVIOUSLY THE PART COVERED IN THE RECALL WAS ALSO DEFECTIVE IN MY VEHICLE. I AM WRITING ABOUT MY RECENT EXPERIENCE WITH NISSAN REGARDING A RECALL ON MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER, WHICH I PURCHASED IN MAY OF 2008 AS A PRE-OWNED VEHICLE. THE RECALL WITH THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER OF 10V075000 INVOLVES A FLAW WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM NISSAN REGARDING THIS RECALL, WHICH NISSAN STATES IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE SOMETIME AGO.THREE WEEKS AGO I WAS DOING RESEARCH ONLINE TO TRY AND FIND A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM.THAT IS WHEN I DISCOVERED THE RECALL. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED ORR NISSAN IN BOSSIER CITY 318-752-3000, SINCE THAT IS THE DEALER THAT I PURCHASED THE PATHFINDER FROM. I SPOKE TO MIKE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED, BECAUSE THE MILEAGE WAS OVER 72,000 MILES AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME AROUND $600 HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THE RECALL, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WITHIN THE MILEAGE SPECIFIED WHEN I CONTACTED THEM. I TOOK THE NEXT STEP AND CALLED NISSAN USA AT 1-800-647-7261 AND SPOKE TO [XXX] AT EXT#[XXX]. [XXX] TOLD ME THAT THE REASON I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED WAS DUE TO AN ERROR ON NISSAN'S PART, SINCE THEY NEVER ENTERED MY INFORMATION INTO THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEM DESIGNATING ME AS THE NEW OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. SO, THE NOTICE WAS SENT OUT TO THE PRIOR OWNERS WHOM LIVE IN ANOTHER STATE. AT THAT POINT SHE OPENED A CASE FOR ME WITH THE CASE #[XXX]. I WAS CONTACTED BY [XXX] FROM 1-800-343-6913 EXT#[XXX], WHO TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO HONOR THE RECALL AND MAKE THE REPAIR, BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE MY PATHFINDER SERVICED AT NISSAN. HE THEN SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT MYSELF. WELL, I HAVE TAKEN IT IN ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE, THEY DID NOT SPOT IT ON EITHER OCCASION. BUT, EVEN IF I HAD NEVER TAKEN IT TO THEM FOR MAINTENANCE, I SHOULD NOT BE PUNISHED FOR SERVICING MY OWN VEHICLE. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2006 ARMADA, TITAN, INFINITI QX56 AND MODEL YEAR 2005-2006 FRONTIER, PATHFINDER AND XTERRA VEHICLES. THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE (IPDM) ASSEMBLY CONTAINS AN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) RELAY THAT HAS A DIODE FOR ELECTRICAL CURRENT NOISE REDUCTION. THE ECM RELAY MAY ALLOW SILICON VAPOR TO FORM AND, OVER TIME, THE SILICON EVAPORATES FROM THE DIODE MOLDING WHICH CAUSES SILICON OXIDE TO DEVELOP ON THE ECM RELAY CONTACT DUE TO ARCING.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE ENGINE STALLING INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ECM RELAY INSIDE THE IPDM ASSEMBLY. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 6, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
Mar 3, 2010
NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 AND MODEL YEAR 2008 FRONTIER, XTERRA AND PATHFINDER VEHICLES. THE MOLDED FUEL TANK SHELLS CAN DEFORM, CAUSING THE FUEL SENDER FLOAT ARM TO CONTACT AN EMBOSSMENT MOLDED INTO THE TANK SHELL CAUSING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE TO SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY ONE QUARTER TANK WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND STALL IN TRAFFIC, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK WITH A NEW ONE THAT HAS A MODIFIED FLOAT ARM. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE MARCH 22, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

NISSAN IS RECALLING 242,720 MY 2005-2009 PATHFINDER, FRONTIER AND XTERRA VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, WEST VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN, AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. IN THOSE AREAS OF THE COUNTRY WHICH USE HEAVY CONCENTRATIONS OF ROAD SALT IN THE WINTER, A MIXTURE OF SNOW/WATER AND SALT CAN ENTER INTO THE FRONT CRASH ZONE SENSOR (CZS) HOUSING. IF THIS OCCURS, THE CZS MAY INTERNALLY RUST RESULTING IN A SIGNAL INTERRUPTION. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE RED AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE TO ALERT THE VEHICLE OPERATOR.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: THIS ISSUE COULD RESULT IN THE NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAGS IN A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT CZS WITH A REDESIGNED SENSOR. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 26, 2009. OWNERS IN THE OTHER STATES WILL RECEIVE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THE SENSOR TO 10 YEARS. THESE OWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE WARRANTY EXTENSION BY MAIL AND WILL RECEIVE A STICKER TO PLACE IN THEIR WARRANTY BOOKLET EXPLAINING THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
