VEHCILE STARTING VIBRATING AT 40MPH, RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED TRANSMISSION HAD FAILDED DUE TO RADITOR FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION COOLING SYSTEM. I WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THIS PATICULAR VEHCILED AND IT HAD BEEN SERVICED ON A REGULAR BASIS WITH PREMIERE NISSAN IN METAIRIE, LA. I ADDRESSED THE ISSURE WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR TO THE TRANSIMISSION FAILURE AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND THEY REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE $5,800 REPAIR ESTIMATE. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL OF ALL VEHICLES WHEN THESE PROBLEMS WERE IDENTIFIED. *TR

MY 06 NISSAN PATHFINDER STARTING SHAKING AND MAKING A SHUTTERING NOISE AT 40MPH. ALSO A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE AT LOWER SPEEDS. I TOOK MY PATHFINDER TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. AFTER A FEW HOURS THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND TOLD ME IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION COOLER BUILT INSIDE THE RADIATOR. A LINE IN THE COOLER CRACKED LETTING RADIATOR FLUID AND TRANSMISSION FLUID TO MIX TOGETHER AND RUN ALL THROUGH BOTH MY COOLING AND TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS. I HAVE 75,000 MILES AND WAS TOLD I'M UNDER THE 80,000 MILE WARRANTY FOR THESE REPAIRS. I WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR ALONG WITH A NEW THERMOSTAT AND GASKET. I'M ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES THAT WILL NOT HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET FOR THESE REPAIRS. I'VE BEEN READING POST AFTER POST ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM THAT ARE OVER THE MILEAGE WARRANTY AND ARE HAVING TO PAY CO-PAYS AND SOME THAT HAD TO PAY THE FULL REPAIR BILL. PLEASE RECALL THIS. THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE BEING AFFECTED WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR

CLEARLY THIS CAUSES HIGHWAY ISSUES WHEN ENTERING OR EXITING ON RAMPS OR STREETS THAT HAVE A POSTING OF 40 TO 45MPH. NOT HAVING THE POWER TO ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE, PUTS NOT ONLY MY FAMILY AT RISK, BUT THOSE AROUND US AS WELL! WHEN THE ISSUE WAS DIAGNOSED, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A NISSAN EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUE INVOLVING THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. MY VEHICLE HAS 82000 MILES (2000 MILES OVER, WHICH WOULD HAVE QUALIFIED FOR FREE SERVICE) WHICH MEANT THAT I WAS NOW LIABLE FOR THE $2500 DOLLAR DEDUCTIBLE FOR THEIR FAULTY EQUIPMENT! *TR

STEERING WHEEL ALL OF A SUDDEN BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN REGULARLY WHEN DRIVING/TURNING. AFTER A COUPLE WEEKS THE STEERING COLUMN BECAME VERY LOOSE AND CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO WOBBLE. WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL I WOULD NOTICE A SEVERE GRINDING SOUND. UPON DETAILED ONLINE RESEARCH THE SAME OCCURRENCE HAS HAPPENED TO SEVERAL 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER OWNERS WITH SIMILAR MILEAGE. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION WE HAVE FOUND THAT NISSAN HAS ISSUED A SERVICE PART TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. MY REPAIR WILL COST AN UPWARD OF $1300. I FEEL THAT NISSAN SHOULD MAKE THIS ISSUE A RECALL AS THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT IF I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE A HAZARDOUS ACCIDENT!! THIS IS A SEVERE ISSUE FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS. *TR

THEN IT'S GAUGE SHOWED IT RUNNING HOT (NO SMOKE OR LOSS OF POWER) AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THEN THE GAUGE SAID IT WASN'T RUNNING HOT AND NO POWER LOSS. I CONTINUED DOWN THE FREEWAY AND MADE IT HOME WITH NO MORE PROBLEMS. I STUDIED AND RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM FOR HOURS ON THE WEB. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE NEXT DAY. MY RESEARCH TURNED UP VALID. THIS 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER. NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. INSTEAD NISSAN EXTENDED A WARRANTY TO 100K AND PASSED THESE FLAWS ON TO THE CONSUMER. SHAME ON NISSAN! THE PROBLEM IS WHAT IS DESCRIBED AS A FLUID INTERMIX. THIS IS BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID HAS COOLING COILS THAT RUN THROUGH THE RADIATOR. FOR A YEAR OR TWO NISSAN HAD PRODUCED DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND WAS NOT FORCED TO RECALL. NOW ME THE CONSUMER IS STUCK WITH A SIX TO NINE THOUSAND DOLLAR REPAIR BILL ON MY VEHICLE WITH 110K MILES ON IT. RECALL THESE VEHICLES PLEASE NISSAN. WHISTLE BLOWERS JUST ASK THE SERVICE PEOPLE ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR NO NISSAN DID. THIS IS CONSUMER ABUSE BY CORPORATE TOUGH GUYS. *TR

10V517000 · Engine And Engine Cooling

Oct 28, 2010

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2006 ARMADA, TITAN, INFINITI QX56 AND MODEL YEAR 2005-2006 FRONTIER, PATHFINDER AND XTERRA VEHICLES. THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE (IPDM) ASSEMBLY CONTAINS AN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) RELAY THAT HAS A DIODE FOR ELECTRICAL CURRENT NOISE REDUCTION. THE ECM RELAY MAY ALLOW SILICON VAPOR TO FORM AND, OVER TIME, THE SILICON EVAPORATES FROM THE DIODE MOLDING WHICH CAUSES SILICON OXIDE TO DEVELOP ON THE ECM RELAY CONTACT DUE TO ARCING.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE ENGINE STALLING INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ECM RELAY INSIDE THE IPDM ASSEMBLY. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 6, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

10V075000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:storage:auxillary Tank

Mar 3, 2010

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 AND MODEL YEAR 2008 FRONTIER, XTERRA AND PATHFINDER VEHICLES. THE MOLDED FUEL TANK SHELLS CAN DEFORM, CAUSING THE FUEL SENDER FLOAT ARM TO CONTACT AN EMBOSSMENT MOLDED INTO THE TANK SHELL CAUSING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE TO SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY ONE QUARTER TANK WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND STALL IN TRAFFIC, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK WITH A NEW ONE THAT HAS A MODIFIED FLOAT ARM. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE MARCH 22, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

Dec 29, 2008

NISSAN IS RECALLING 242,720 MY 2005-2009 PATHFINDER, FRONTIER AND XTERRA VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, WEST VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN, AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. IN THOSE AREAS OF THE COUNTRY WHICH USE HEAVY CONCENTRATIONS OF ROAD SALT IN THE WINTER, A MIXTURE OF SNOW/WATER AND SALT CAN ENTER INTO THE FRONT CRASH ZONE SENSOR (CZS) HOUSING. IF THIS OCCURS, THE CZS MAY INTERNALLY RUST RESULTING IN A SIGNAL INTERRUPTION. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE RED AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE TO ALERT THE VEHICLE OPERATOR.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS ISSUE COULD RESULT IN THE NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAGS IN A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT CZS WITH A REDESIGNED SENSOR. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 26, 2009. OWNERS IN THE OTHER STATES WILL RECEIVE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THE SENSOR TO 10 YEARS.
