System that failed: Automatic Emergency Braking. The car is at the dealership now. My safety/others safety at risk: I was driving at about 40-45 mph and for no reason at all the emergency braking system engaged and brought my car to a screeching halt in the middle of the road. There was no reason for the emergency brakes to engage as there was nothing in front of me. The car behind me then had to slam on their brakes as I had come to a complete stop in the middle of the road for no reason. Had the car behind me not been paying attention, they would have certainly hit me and we both could have been injured. In addition, if this happened on the highway the consequences could certainly be catastrophic. Problem reproduced/confirmed: Not sure, waiting to hear from dealer Inspection: Just at the dealer. Warning lamps/messages: Definitely something flashed up that I'm pretty sure was red and white but didn't stay long. Symptoms prior: My alternator went out in August 2026, also bringing my car to a complete stop in the middle of the road. Was told at the dealer it was a fluke manufacturing defect and was fixed.
