TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN 350Z. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD AND ACCELERATED TO 70 MPH. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STOPPED ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

ON CERTAIN PASSENGER AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE FUEL FILLER HOSE MAY CRACK AND RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE FROM THE HOSE WHILE REFUELING.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL FILLER HOSE. RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 27, 2006, FOR NISSAN OWNERS, AND ON MARCH 13, 2006, FOR INFINITI OWNERS. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261 OR INFINITI AT 1-800-662-6200.
