2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

The emergency brake suddenly failed to function. Applied the brake but there was no tension on the lever & no brake function occuring. I understand there was a VIN specific recall on this vehicle and just wondering how my vehicle that falls under the year, make & model does not qualify for the recall but is suffering from the same exact issue?

On the outlanders speed control sensor on the back hubs the lil ears that hold the sensor in place have broken off both sides of my car there's is no way to replace them makeing my car shift different drive funny and it's just about made me wreck a few times and cause when they pop out the car downshift and the engine reves at 9000 rpm and now I have a tick in my engine but i have had to try and glueing the sensors back into place this is a big problem with the outlander I have plus the roads in WV are not the greast potholes are everywhere and when you hit one they pop out of place very ease

The contact owns a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the rear brakes grabbed and would not disengage when the brake pedal was released. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact then received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V741000 (Parking Brake). The recall repair was serviced however, the failure still occurred. The vehicle was diagnosed with the brake pads and rotors needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the rear rotors needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that two years later, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with the rotors and the brakes needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and referred the contact to a local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 26,907.

RECENTLY REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS ON ALL FOUR WHEELS OF MY OUTLANDER. ALL BUT THE REAR PASSENGER ARE WORKING FINE, WHILE THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE IS MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. WE'VE REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS 3 TIMES, REPLACED THE ROTOR ONCE, AND EVEN REPLACED THE WHOLE CALIPER; IT'S STILL MAKING A GRINDING SOUND. THERE'S A RECALL POSTED FOR SOME 2016 OUTLANDERS FOR THE PARKING BRAKE NOT ENGAGING/DISENGAGING PROPERLY AND WE MIGHT THINK THIS IS THE PROBLEM; HOWEVER, THIS RECALL IS NOT APPLIED TO OUR 2016 OUTLANDER. I THINK WE ARE HAVING THE EXACT PROBLEM THAT IS LISTED ON THIS RECALL.

THIS COMPLAINT IS IN FOLLOW UP TO PREVIOUS COMPLAINT 11353585 REGARDING FROZEN CALIPER. AS PREVIOUS STATED THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE. THE REASON FOR THIS FOLLOW UP IS TO REPORT AN ASSOCIATED ISSUE. SPECIFICALLY, THAT I FOUND IT IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCATE A REPLACEMENT BRAKE CALIPER. THE CALIPER WAS ONLY AVAILABLE THRU THE DEALER, NOT INCLUDING LABOR, THE DEALER CHARGED $570.88 FOR ONE CALIPER. I HAVE REPLACED NUMEROUS CALIPERS OVER THE YEARS AND HAVE NEVER SPENT OVER $150 FOR A CALIPER. THIS IS A RIDICULOUS PRICE FOR A CALIPER AND APPEARS TO BE MONOPOLIZED PRICE GOUGING BY MITSUBISHI.

DRIVER SIDE CALIPER FROZE. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IT WAS FROZEN. NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY WHICH THEY ADVISED EXPIRED AT 60K. VEHICLE HAD 65K MILES ON IT AT TIME OF INCIDENT. I'M 52 AND FAMILIAR WITH VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND HAVE CHANGED MANY BRAKES, ROTORS, CALIPERS. NEVER HAVE I SEEN A CALIPER GO BAD WITHIN 4 YEARS. DEFINITELY A FLAW ON THIS VEHICLE AND SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE, ABS, AND TEMPERATURE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW THE DOWN, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AND CRASHED INTO A CEMENT BARRIER. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK AND NECK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V609000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT CALLED DON JACKSON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM AT (770) 969-7259 (LOCATED AT 3950 JONESBORO RD, UNION CITY, GA 30291) AND WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
