This 2023 GLC, a newly redesigned model, has a number of issues. The two most severe are the adaptive speed limit and the lane keeping assist. I had to disable the traffic sign recognition feature because I was on I-95 in Maryland where the posted speed limit was 65. The car abruptly slowed me down to 35 because it saw an exit sign speed limit but I was not on the exit. I was lucky the car behind me didn't hit me. A warning would be good but to brake the vehicle for a speed limit sign seems problematic. The more serious issue is the lane keeping assist. The car is supposed to show green markers when I'm above 37MPH and on a marked road. Normally, one turns red and eases the car back into the lane if I drift. There are 3 settings and mine is set to provide the most warning. If the system works (it sometimes does) I am already on the line at the alert. Typically, it could care less where I am in relation to road markings and will let me drift across lanes with no warning whatsoever. I took the car in to the dealership several times for this. The first time, they said "it's designed so you can't trick it." I didn't buy that. I then took it our for a drive with the service manager. He said "it detected steering input". I then let it drift across the road marking while removing my hands from the wheel and it provided no warning whatsoever (no turn signal use to disable the function). I asked him if he saw steering input that time. He said "I need a video of this". This issue has supposedly been sent to the engineers in Germany but this problem existed when new and it's been weeks with no resolution. This is a backup system but it is something I certainly paid for and would like to know it works should I actually need it. All testing was done in a safe manner and not around traffic. I can only attach pictures but I have videos as well. The dash should not be showing green lane markings on both sides in any of these screenshots from videos.

1 ) the car would not start several times. every error message scanned across the screen and i had to leave the car and lock it and wait 10-15 minutes and then it would start. if i had any type of emergency and this happened, it would be detrimental. the first time this happened was the day i got the car with less than 10 miles on it. this issue was recreated by service and a software update was performed and it hasn’t happened since. 2 ) all computers / screens turned off while the car was in drive and in motion. horrifying and so dangerous. i had no safety features active , as they all display on the two screens. this happened with less than 500 miles on the car. this was not duplicated by service and it happened one time. 3 ) the sunroof malfunctioned and would not close after the software update was performed. i had to bring it back the very next day. this problem was duplicated by service and was repaired. 4 ) today the camera / visibility system malfunctioned giving an error message “ system inoperative “. i drove it to service an hour after it happened. it makes me completely distrust every electronic component of the vehicle which scares me so much to even drive it not knowing if and when safety features will fail. mileage est 1350. i’m not sure if they have duplicated it, as it’s still in the shop. i have videos of the other issues but the form won’t let me upload videos. i uploaded a picture of the 4th issue in my report.

The 2023 GLC300 would not start. The internal alarms kept going off, the push-start/stop would not respond. The vehicle was acting like it was being stolen, this lasted for 75 to 80 minutes. The display said 12V On-Board Electrical System Service Required and Blind Spot Assist Inoperative - over and over again. Couldn't get the key to make car lock or unlock. The car would not turn on, it would not turn off. The alarm message was persistent. Had to call a tow-truck to take it in for service. After 3+ hours the car restarted. Mercedes initiated "Campaign: Update Powertrain Control Unit Software #2023060007". They found multiple communication faults in various modules. I was left stranded. This happened 3 times. Twice in front of the house and the 3rd time (when it was towed) I was far from home. The mechanic explained that the car had sensors indicating the car was being stolen so that is why it didn't start. That make no sense! I had the key. I had been driving it that day. It was working fine. A brand new 2023 car should be reliable. It should start when the owner has the key fob in hand. Shutting the car down for hours is a system failure. Please investigate.

Sunday, June 25, when I was driving the car on the road, the engine shut off and the car stopped running. 3 warning lights show on screen: engine light; 48v Battery Service Required; 12v Battery service required. I used the break to park the car on the roadside after that. I tried many times to restart the car, Waited over one hour and 40 minutes it finally started again, the engine warning light was still on until the second day morning, and I was able to take pics as evident. 1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Yes, but on the second day, the MB service dep told me that the car was having a system update (while I was driving the car and it turned off the engine by doing that) 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was still driving with 40m/h+ on the road, my car suddenly having a malfunction. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, I called MB USA, they started a purchase buyback application, but still let me drive that car. 4. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. The 3 warning lamps showed when the engine shut off while I was driving. There was no other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The car is new, 2023 GLC 300, the dealership is AutoNation, only has 2400 miles on it do far, one month only so far.
