I AM A TEACHER. I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDDLE AND IT WAS STUCK. I QUICKLY PUSHED THE BREAK, PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. I REMEMBER HEARING ABOUT THIS WITH TOYOTAS SO I PULLED UP MY CARPET THINKING IT MIGHT BE THAT. I STARTED BACK ON MY WAY TO WORK AND THE PEDDLE WAS NOT STUCK AT THIS POINT BUT STILL "STICKY". I REALIZED IT WAS NOT THE CARPET AT ALL, THE PEDAL WAS THE ISSUE! AFTER WORK I WAS TRYING TO PULL OUT OF MY PARKED SPOT. MY GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK AGAIN. MY CAR WAS ACCELERATING ON ITS' OWN. I TRIED THE BRAKE IT WOULD NOT HELP. I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT SLOWED DOWN. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THE CAR. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT. I GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND TRIED AGAIN, IT WAS STILL STUCK. THIS WAS SO BAD BECAUSE NOT ONLY WAS IT DANGEROUS FOR ME, I AM A TEACHER AND THE STUDENTS WALK THROUGH THE PARKING LOT ALL THE TIME. IT WAS DANGEROUS FOR EVERYONE. I CALLED THE MAZDA DEALER ( I HAVE A 2006 TRIBUTE) ASKING IF THERE WAS A RECALL, THEY SAID NO. I CAME HOME AND FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM (THE FORD ESCAPE IS THE SAME AS MY CAR) THEIR GAS PEDDLE GETS STUCK!!! THIS IS HORRIBLE, COMMON, AND DANGEROUS. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARALLEL PARK, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR. THE CONTACT NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN CUT OUT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS IMPOSSIBLE. THE MECHANIC THEN SPECULATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE MAY HAVE BECOME LOOSE ON ITS OWN. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH FRONT BRAKE LINES. A WEEK LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BRAKING PROPERLY. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY FOUND NO FAILURES. THE FOLLOWING DAY, WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL AT 10 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. SHE MANAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE MECHANIC AND HE STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED, BUT ONLY TO THE REAR BRAKES. BOTH REAR BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED AT THAT TIME. CURRENTLY, THE ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED OR REGROUNDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED JUST BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. MAZDA WAS UNHELPFUL WITH EXPLAINING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED SO THAT THE FAILURE DOES NOT RECUR IN TWO YEARS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000.

MY 2006 TRIBUTE HAS 47,000 MILES. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON-AND STAYED ON, AND THE 4WD LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF 3 OR 4 TIMES ABOUT EVERY MILE. OUR DEALER INSPECTED AND FOUND IT WAS A BROKEN PART IN THE FRONT AXLE, WHICH WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY KEPT THE CAR OVERNIGHT AND REPLACED IT. I ASKED IF WE COULD EXPECT THIS TO HAPPEN TO THE OTHER AXLE AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE A DEFINITIVE ANSWER. EVEN MORE TROUBLING IS THE FACT THAT NOW THE CAR PULLS TO THE RIGHT. THEIR MECHANIC NOTED IN HIS REPAIR REPORT, BUT THEY DIDN'T BOTHER TO TELL US ABOUT IT BECAUSE HE SAID IT WAS NOTHING HE DID. WHEN SOMETHING LIKE AND AXLE IS INVOLVED, SHOULDN'T AN ALIGNMENT BE PART OF THE SERVICE? AND AREN'T THEY AT LEAST MORALLY OBLIGATED TO TELL ME THAT THE CAR 'PULLS' NOW? *TR

12V357000 · Engine And Engine Cooling; Vehicle Speed Control:cables

Jul 27, 2012

Mazda is recalling certain model year 2001 through 2006, and 2008, Tribute vehicles equipped with 3.0L V6 engines and speed control. Inadequate clearance between the engine cover and the speed control cable connector could result in a stuck throttle when the accelerator pedal is fully or almost-fully depressed. This risk exists regardless of whether or not speed control (cruise control) is used.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A stuck throttle may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop or slow the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.

Remedy: Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles by increasing the engine cover clearance, free of charge. Remedy parts are now available. The safety recall began on September 13, 2012. Owners may contact Mazda Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-222-5500, option #6.

05V525000 · Visibility:windshield Wiper/washer:motor

Nov 17, 2005

ON CERTAIN TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR MAY HAVE BEEN PRODUCED WITHOUT GREASE APPLIED TO THE OUTPUT SHAFT GEAR.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: AFTER A PERIOD OF CONTINUOUS USE ON THE HIGH SPEED SETTING, LACK OF GREASE ON THE OUTPUT SHAFT GEAR MAY CAUSE THE GEAR TEETH TO DISTORT OR FRACTURE DURING OPERATION RESULTING IN THE LOSS OF WIPER FUNCTION. INOPERATIVE WIPERS UNDER INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS COULD CAUSE A CRASH DUE TO IMPAIRED VISIBILITY.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE WIPER MOTOR FOR THE PRESENCE OF GREASE AND GREASE THE WIPER MOTOR GEARS IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 28, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MAZDA AT 1-800-222-5500.
