On XXX while driving approximately 170 miles along the [XXX] corridor from [XXX] to [XXX], the vehicle’s Hands-Free driver assistance system (Highway Assist / DreamDrive) suffered three critical, unprovoked disengagements, creating severe near-miss rear-end hazards. Prior to the trip, I had intentionally disabled the automatic lane change feature due to known unreliability, relying only on Hands-Free lane centering and speed control while performing manual lane changes myself. Despite this, the system failed catastrophically three times: Incident 1 (Heavy Rain): Driving in torrential rain where the windshield wipers failed to adequately clear the glass. With no vehicles ahead but traffic actively following behind, the Hands-Free system abruptly disengaged and caused immediate unexpected deceleration. In extremely poor visibility on a high-speed interstate, this sudden slowdown created an immediate rear-end collision hazard. Incident 2 (Passing Lane Maneuver): While driving around 70–75 mph in a 65 mph zone to complete a standard overtaking maneuver in the passing lane, the system suddenly dumped steering and speed control mid-maneuver with traffic fast approaching from behind. I had to instantly intervene to prevent a collision and keep control of the vehicle. Incident 3 (Unprovoked Disengagement): On an open, straight highway segment with clear weather, no road construction, no lane obstruction, and no surrounding vehicles, the system abruptly disengaged for no identifiable reason. A driver-assist system in a 3-row family vehicle that unpredictably disengages in adverse weather, mid-overtake, and on clear open highways poses an unreasonable risk of severe rear-end crashes. This constitutes a critical safety defect that requires immediate federal investigation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am exiting the freeway, and the far two right lanes both exit. I’m in the inner exiting lane, and I signal to take the exit. There’s a car to my right, exiting at the same time. As I’m taking the exit, my Gravity Grand Touring seemingly thinks I’m going to turn into the other car exiting near me and engages the collision intervention, whereby it forcibly steers me into the gore point until I wrestle the steering wheel back into the correct lane. I’ve also noticed that the car sends an audible collision prevention alerts when I make a turn (with a turn signal on) when a car is turning next to me (like when there are two or three turn lanes). I have experienced other safety concerns with the software on this car. For part of the day, my turn signals did not function when I operated the physical stock controls. Additionally, I had an incident where the automatic folding mirror on my passenger side failed to fold back out into proper position while driving. It was essentially folded into the car, whereby I could not see any traffic on my passenger side.

When you press the button in the middle row to fold the seat forward so that the rear passenger can go to the back, the force of the chair is very strong. It almost knocked me out because my head was there and it flung forward. Also the middle seat on the middle row doesn't latch. You really have to use all your force to have it latch. The dream drive (auto drive) on the lucid is activated by the buttons on the steering wheel. The buttons do not work all the time. Sometimes I have to press it 5 times for it to disengage. It's very dangerous if it is in an emergency situation if the system can't turn off. I have it on video and the service center knows about it. There is no fix because they said they can try to replace the steering wheel again but it didn't work the last time.
