The contact owns a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that within a week of purchasing the vehicle new, there was an abnormally strong odor coming from the vehicle. The dealer picked up the vehicle and performed an engine cleaning; however, the failure recurred within days. The contact stated that the low coolant warning light was frequently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that no issue was found. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where coolant was added to the vehicle, and the contact had frequently added coolant to the vehicle as needed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where several coolant leaks were found. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to Land Rover Charlotte (6710 E Independence Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28212), where it was diagnosed that the inner coolant had leaked into the engine, and there were metal shavings found in the oil. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact stated that the vehicle was diagnosed after the warranty had expired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V044000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The contact also stated that the vehicle had failed to start after several attempts. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to a dealer, but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where the mechanic linked the failure to the engine cam carrier listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V044000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was then towed to another independent mechanic but was not repaired and remained in possession of the independent mechanic. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Land Rover Range Rover Velar and Land Rover Discovery, 2020-2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, 2019-2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport, 2020-2024 Land Rover Range Rover, 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport, 2020-2024 Land Rover Defender, 2021-2024 Jaguar F-Pace, and 2021-2022 Jaguar E-Pace mild-hybrid electric vehicles (MHEVs.) The DC-DC converter can fail due to an internal fault in the boost control microchip. A failure of the DC-DC converter will result in a loss of 12-Volt system charging and can lead to complete loss of drive power and exterior lighting.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: The remedy for this recall is currently under development. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed June 17, 2026. Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A rearview camera image that does not display can decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the rearview camera for damage. If no damage is found, the camera will be fitted with a new seal. If damage is found, the camera will be replaced and calibrated. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 18, 2024. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) is upgrading its Preliminary Evaluation (PE25006) of front steering knuckle fractures on model year (MY) 2014 through 2017 Range Rover Sport vehicles to an Engineering Analysis. ODI opened PE25006 on June 27, 2025, after receiving 12 Vehicle Owner's Questionnaire (VOQ) reports of the front aluminum steering knuckles fracturing in these vehicles. The reports describe the fractures occurring at the joint where the steering knuckle attaches to the upper control arm ball joint in one or both steering knuckles. Fracture of the front suspension knuckle can lead to detachment of the upper suspension arm. Detachment of the upper suspension arm results in the driver’s inability to control the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. ODI reviewed information supplied by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in response to Information Request letters as well as reviewed the data with JLR on numerous occasions. ODI further reviewed relevant data on a peer vehicle with a significantly similar steering knuckle design, the MY 2014 through 2017 Range Rover. Much of the information is contradictory and requires a deeper analysis that is available in an Engineering Analysis. On August 5, 2025, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) filed safety recall 25V514. This recall covers certain MY 2014 and all MY 2015-2017 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. The remedy for recall 25V514 addresses knuckles with and without a visible fracture. Knuckles that have developed a visible fracture will be replaced with a new knuckle of a substantially similar design. Knuckles with no fracture visibly present will have a brace attached to the upper portion of the front steering knuckle. JLR states that the purpose of the brace is to prevent the component from completely separating should a fracture develop. NHTSA continues to receive allegations of fractures occurring in the front steering knuckles of Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. Two of the most recent VOQs received by ODI involve front steering knuckle fractures occurring on MY 2020 and MY 2021 Range Rover L405 vehicles. ODI will continue to investigate the component design and assess the potential safety risk as part of this Engineering Analysis and evaluate the recall remedies for Recall 25V514. Further, the scope of this Engineering Analysis will be expanded to include MY 2018-2022 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles as they have a substantially similar component design.
