The steering was completely lost, and the car was not controllable. Land Rover is aware of the problem and a recall was made in the UK, but not the USA. Service Dept report: No power steering, no warning on dash. Found that power steering assist electric motor is no longer bolted to steering rack, all 3 ALUMINUM bolts holding motor to rack have sheared off. Can move motor side to side at rack will likely need completely new rack and programming. Estimated cost of $7500. The car is used on streets and highways, never on off road or adverse terrain. At 65 MPH and loss of steering, this is a life dangerous event for anyone/ other cars on the road. Land Rover knows of the problem, but because they do not have an official recall from your agency, they said they would not take any action until you direct them to do so. Structure

the driver's side from door latch is not operating correctly. the driver's side front door opens when the car is in motion. this happened in a parking lot while trying to leave the lot. we may have been going about 15mph. the door latch is not working at all now. the door will not stay closed at all. there is a current recall for the same issue but Land Rover says that my vin number is not included in the recall. Maybe a larger recall needs to be issued.

In early February, from a stop, I made right turn and the car just coasted and a "gear box fault" warning message appeared. I was fortunate enough that no one was behind me and I was able to coast into an empty parking lot right around the turn where I shut off the car. I started the car and it drove fine. I carefully drove it home. I saw other incidents of this "gear box fault" happening to other drivers by searching that on the internet, including someone driving on a major highway. I had the car towed to the dealer since I certainly believed this could easily have been an accident if there was someone behind me. The dealer indicated the car needed a new transmission. My car has under 56,000 miles and the warranty I had purchased ran out Oct. 2023. The company has declined to provide any assistance with the transmission cost due to vehicle age and warranty.

The contact owns a 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brakes were inoperable. The contact was able to safely drive the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a fractured brake hose. The contact was informed that the brake fluid hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated while driving and attempting to make a turn, the gear shifter seized. The contact stated that the vehicle was immovable and had seized in the middle of the street. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the contact was informed that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that the front driver's and passenger's door locks were in operable, and the latches failed to lock as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the latches were replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport. The contact stated that while starting and while driving, there was an abnormal exhaust odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the vehicle made an abnormal clicking sound that lasted for 2-3 minutes after the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the exhaust intake manifold was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was concerned for her safety due to the exhaust odor and carbon monoxide poisoning. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.

1. Gear shifter module. 2. My vehicle was towed to the Land Rover dealership who replaced the gear shifter module which was costly. 4. Yes the repairs were done at the Land Rover dealership in my area and it is now working in proper order with a new gear shifter module. 5. No warning signs showed on the dash and the vehicle would not allow me to use the emergency parking brake. The incident happened at a gas station in my area on December 20, 2023 at approximately 8:23 am.

It was inspected by Land Rover Cincinnati. Check engine light came on 2.5 days prior to the incident - called Land Rover Service and I was instructed to "tighten the gas cap and wait a few days."

I checked the car for a pre trip inspection, and noticed the oil dipstick smelled of gas. Towed it to a service center where they were not able to confirm what was the cause as there are no warning lights and fuel injectors tested good. They drained and flushed oil, but the issue did not resolve. Concerned this issue is the same issue as other cars of the same model but different year have been recalled for, I am reporting the issue.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport vehicles manufactured May 30, 2016, to August 24, 2016, and 2016-2017 Range Rover Evoque vehicles manufactured June 7, 2016, to August 26, 2016. The affected vehicles have front lower control arm fasteners that may fail due to an assembly error, possibly resulting in separation of the steering knuckle.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the fasteners were to fail causing the knuckle to separate, vehicle handling may be affected, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will replace the hardware that connects the front lower control arm to the knuckle, free of charge. The recall began on January 27, 2017. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is Q650/Q651.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport vehicles manufactured September 17, 2014, to March 5, 2016. In the affected vehicles, the license plate illumination lamp may fall out. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Without license plate illumination, the vehicle may be difficult to identify at night.

Remedy: Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will replace both rear license plate lamp housings, free of charge. The recall began on June 21, 2016. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is P077.

From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators.It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata.
