PLASTIC STALKS SUPPORTING TURN SIGNALS ON 2008 KAWASAKI KLR 650 MOTORCYCLES ARE VERY BRITTLE AND PRONE TO FAILURE. I HAVE HAD 2 TURN SIGNALS STALKS FAIL/BREAK WITHIN THE PAST 2 MONTHS WITH NORMAL DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. I HAVE HAD THE BIKE FOR ONLY 3 MONTHS. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW. *TR

RIGHT REAR TURN SIGNAL MOUNTING STALK (RUBBER) DETERIORATED AND THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT ASSEMBLY FELL OFF AND WAS SUSPENDED BY ONLY THE WIRES. *TR
TURN SIGNALS FALL OFF MOTORCYCLE FOR NO REASON. BIKE WILL BE PARKED AND THE RUBBER GIVES WAY AND YOU FIND THEM DANGLING BY THE WIRE. DEALER REPLACED 3 TURN SIGNALS ALREADY AND THE 4TH HAS BEEN ON BACKORDER FOR WEEKS NOW. HAD TO INSTALL AN AFTERMARKET SET OF SIGNALS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. *TR

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE SPRING RETAINING PIN ON THE FRAME MAY NOT HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY WELDED IN PLACE AND COULD FALL OUT, ALLOWING THE SIDESTAND TO DROP INTO THE "PARKING" POSITION.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF THIS OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, A CRASH COULD OCCUR.
Remedy: KAWASAKI WILL REPURCHASE THESE MOTORCYCLES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 1, 2007. ALL DEALERS/OWNERS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.
