2023 Jeep Wagoneer

On February 13, 2026, ALM [XXX] [XXX] ) sold me a 2023 Jeep Wagoneer (VIN: [XXX] ) with Federal Safety Recall 88C (NHTSA Campaign 25V-642 — rear quarter window trim detachment, road hazard risk) open and unrepaired at the time of sale. This recall was not disclosed to me during the sale process, which was conducted remotely. I discovered the open recall only after taking delivery of the vehicle. Owner notification letters for Recall 88C were mailed beginning February 19, 2026 — six days after my purchase. ALM CDJR had knowledge of this recall prior to sale and chose not to disclose it or complete the repair before delivery. The recall has since been completed by a different dealer (Farris Motor Company, Jefferson City, TN). However, ALM CDJR's sale of a vehicle with a known open federal safety recall without disclosure is a dealer compliance violation I am formally reporting to NHTSA. I have filed supporting complaints with the Georgia Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division and have documentation of this transaction on file. I am reporting a catastrophic engine failure on a 2023 Jeep Wagoneer (VIN: [XXX] ) that occurred within 163 miles of consumer delivery, suggesting a latent manufacturing defect present at the time of sale. The vehicle was delivered February 13, 2026 at approximately 29,750 miles. Engine noise was noted the same evening. By March 10, 2026, the vehicle was grounded at Farris Motor Company [XXX] ) at 29,913 miles — 163 miles after delivery. The vehicle remains inoperable after 60+ days. Stellantis STAR Case #XXX documents the following confirmed failures: collapsed lifters, failed camshaft, damaged rockers, and scored cylinder walls. Technician notes in the official STAR Case record state the engine oil contained metal contamination so severe it "looked like paint." Borescope imaging confirmed scoring on cylinder walls. Stellantis has thus far refused to authorize a full engine replacement, instead directing the servicing dealer to replace only individually identified failed components — despite the fact that metal contamination of this severity compromises the entire lubrication circuit, including both turbochargers. The servicing dealer (Farris Motor Company) has independently advocated to Stellantis for full engine replacement and agrees the partial repair is insufficient. I am reporting this failure to NHTSA to document the defect pattern and request investigation into whether other 2023 Wagoneer vehicles with the 3.0L Hurricane engine may be experiencing similar latent valvetrain failures. My 2023 Jeep Wagoneer experienced a catastrophic panoramic sunroof failure while parked and unattended. The vehicle had been driven normally earlier that day with no known impact or debris strike, and I have footage from before arriving showing the roof intact. The vehicle was parked in a school parking lot for approximately 2.5 hours, and when I returned, the panoramic roof glass had spontaneously shattered. No impact event was witnessed, and there was no known object strike to the vehicle. The dealership determined the damage was caused by outside influence; however, no specific impact point or evidence of an object strike has been identified to us. Because the glass shattered unexpectedly while the vehicle was stationary, we are concerned this may represent a spontaneous tempered-glass failure and a potential safety defect.

I scheduled an appointment Genes Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM service department in Fairbanks, AK on February 13, 2026 to perform all recalls on my vehicle. This appointment was made almost a month out to ensure I had the day off to be able to drop off my vehicle and have them keep it for the remainder of the day. The service department informed me before closing time around 1700 that my vehicle was ready for pick up. In the next few weeks, I was still receiving recall information in the mail. I called Genes again and spoke with a representative who checked the system for me and she assured me that recalls were completed but it takes time for the system to update. I took her word for it. My vehicle is currently in service at Genes now for other issues and I called Stellantis to open a case for the delays. Per their regulation, when a member calls, they let them know what recalls is still against their vehicle, they assured me that my recalls was still open. I wrote an email to Genes manager requesting to answer me via email as proof that recalls were performed on my vehicle, but he did not address my question to this day. I have attached the receipt of the workorder on Feb 13 that states recalls were performed on my vehicle. I am also attaching the email traffic from Genes regarding my follow up question. There are other correspondence in this email, but I have highlighted my email that I sent on May 4th and attached the PDF with the email.

The contact owns a 2023 JEEP Wagoneer. The contact stated that while towing, the vehicle experienced a serious and recurring safety failure where the trailer lights would function for approximately five minutes before a portion of them would blackout. This failure renders towing unsafe and illegal, as it compromises visibility and traffic law compliance. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 26E006000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) however, the VIN was not included in the recall due to the vehicle not being within the 2024-2025 range listed on the recall notice. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on three separate occasions for the same failure. During the first visit, the dealer stated the issue was with the trailers; however, the contact paid for independent inspections that confirmed both trailers were in proper working order. During the second visit, the dealer performed a software update, but the failure persisted. During the third visit, the dealer diagnosed the issue as a known manufacturer software defect with no current resolution available. The vehicle was not repaired, due to no other options of repair besides a recall. The manufacturer has been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,335.

It seems that when the outside temperature is very warm/hot, when turning the car on or when idling at a traffic light or driving at very low speeds, on occasion the car will abruptly and without warning, shift itself into Park and the emergency brake activates. I took the vehicle in for repair on 10/23/25 and was told there was a "thermostat internal failure" and that the "thermostat assembly" was replaced. I was just recently traveling in Florida ( reside in NY) and the exact same problems occurred with my vehicle which I can only assume was due to the warmer temperatures that my vehicle has not been exposed to since the last repair as I reside in New York. I feel it should be worth mentioning that when turning OFF the auto start/stop button, the problems occurred less frequently but STILL happened on occasion. I've also had 3 other times when the "check engine" light came on. I was told that the first 2 were related to software updates with the transmission. On the other occasion, a "valve body" was replaced. I'm unsure if any of these were related. I've also had to replace the auxiliary battery but I don't think that's related so I didn't upload that file. Although I'm taking the vehicle to be repaired today, I took it in on 04/14/26 because the check engine light came on while in Florida when the car shifted itself into Park and the Emergency Brake was activated. The check engine light almost never comes on when this happens which I was told makes it difficult to diagnose issues. I didn't know how long this info is stored so I took the vehicle in upon returning to NY and was given a Summary Report after they hooked up a scanner. I couldn't get an appointment until today

This vehicle has had 2 incidents where the engine overheated. In both instances, the thermostat has been replaced under warranty. Due to this most recent overheating event, the repairs were over $1750 excluding the portion of repairs under warranty. There were no warnings before the engine overheated, and the vehicle was being driven on the freeway at appropriate speeds. This is not the first time this vehicle has overheated.
