I own a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that is currently subject to an active safety recall involving a fire hazard. I have been advised that the vehicle should not be parked in a residential garage due to risk of fire. At this time, no permanent repair or remedy has been made available. This significantly limits safe residential use of the vehicle. I previously notified the manufacturer, FCA US LLC, via certified mail requesting guidance or resolution regarding the unresolved recall and safety risk. FCA received the correspondence but did not respond. The vehicle remains under recall with no remedy available, and the manufacturer has been non-responsive. I am concerned about ongoing fire risk, lack of interim safety measures, and inability to safely use or store the vehicle as intended. I am requesting NHTSA review of the unresolved recall remedy and manufacturer response related to this safety issue.

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee hybrid. The vehicle has experienced repeated stalling and loss of propulsion while driving, including in active traffic and in a school pickup line. The vehicle has unexpectedly failed to accelerate or start, creating dangerous situations for myself, my passengers, and surrounding vehicles. The vehicle has stalled in traffic and at low speeds without warning. On multiple occasions, it lost propulsion while driving, requiring me to stop unexpectedly. One incident occurred in a school pickup line, causing traffic disruption and creating a safety risk with children present. In addition, the vehicle is subject to a high-voltage battery safety recall due to fire risk. I have been advised that the vehicle is unsafe to park in a garage, and I am concerned about the risk of fire. At this time, there is no permanent repair available for the recall. Despite reporting these issues and seeking service, the safety defects remain unresolved. The combination of stalling, loss of propulsion, and fire risk makes the vehicle unsafe to operate and unsafe to park. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter as a safety defect involving loss of power, stalling, and fire risk.

My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle is subject to multiple NHTSA safety recalls involving loss of propulsion and vehicle fire risk. These defects have created ongoing safety hazards and extended loss of use. Safety Recall 73C (NHTSA 25V-576) addresses a Hybrid Control Processor software defect that may cause sudden and unexpected loss of drive power without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Safety Recall 78C (NHTSA 25V-766) involves potential contamination of the 2.0L engine from the casting process, which may result in catastrophic engine failure, vehicle fire, and unrecoverable loss of drive power. For an extended period, no remedy was available. Safety Recall 68C (NHTSA 25V-741) involves a High Voltage Battery defect that may lead to a vehicle fire. FCA instructed owners not to recharge the vehicle and to park away from structures or other vehicles. I have been unable to safely charge the vehicle for over six months and have been restricted from using my assigned covered parking due to fire risk. Despite multiple dealership visits for recall-related service, the vehicle has not been fully restored to safe, normal operation. No loaner or substitute transportation has been provided during safety-related repairs. These conditions significantly impair the safety, use, and value of the vehicle and create ongoing risk to occupants and surrounding property. I am submitting this complaint to document the safety issues and extended lack of an effective remedy.

Our Jeep has a nation wide battery recall (2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe) and we brought it in to be fixed. They said that it will take 6 weeks - months (they dont know) when the updated battery will be ready. They are saying we need to rent our own car as we wait, and we shouldn't take it home to drive because it's too unsafe and a liability. We have spent hours on the phone with Chrysler, Jeep, etc. to address this and they keep just bouncing us around or hanging up on us. In addition, we received a notice from Chrysler a few weeks ago that asked to ensure we had updated our deductibles and coverage specific to fire. It is clear that they are trying to cover their end of the liability of this massive safety recall that needs to be addressed. The dangers of driving our children in this car, along with the lack of trying to help resolve this issue is unacceptable and an example of corporate malfeasance.

There were no warning or check engine lights prior to the incidents below. Car was just serviced Nov 3rd 2025 for safety recall 25v-472 and 25v-576. 1st incident Dec 21, 2025: Driving 70mph on major busy interstate in MA and all of a sudden vehicle lost ALL power. It shut off completely. No lights, No warning. Had to coast over to R shoulder and wait several min before power restored. This was Very scary as traffic was heavy. 2nd incident occurred Jan 19, 2026 and was terrifying: I was driving on a curvy mountain 2 lane road at night. This road does not have much lighting. There are no shoulders or pull over lanes due to guardrails. Out of nowhere with no warning. Vehicle lost ALL power (including steering and ALL lights). Could not get out of road as everything shut off and steering locked. I had NO Lights (both internal and external) I Finally got flashers to work after a minute or so but had to sit there dead in the middle of the road on a curve praying no cars came around curve. Was able to restart after about a minute and a half! Called dealership today and they said there is no recall for “loss of power” and we will be taking it in for a $200 diagnostics test.

For the second winter (2 out of 2) this vehicle has entered FORM mode - Fuel Oil Refresh - and fails to operate as a hybrid car until- if last year was the indicator - Spring and warmer weather. Ostensibly due to running in electric mode for too long, FORM is an engine and fuel safety measure. Since this vehicle was under recall 68C until earlier this week and had not been operable in electric mode at all since September, this excuse fails demonstrably. It has been in FORM since the recall was completed. Having a Jeep in winter that is not operable in electric mode in snow and ice when the potential exists that gas mode doesn't function and the 24 "reserve" miles are not available in electric mode, poses a significant risk. Secondarily, in last winter and this, hybrid use is unavailable for months.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE vehicles. The rear coil springs may be incorrectly installed and detach from the vehicle while driving.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Rear coil springs that detach from the vehicle while driving increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the rear coil spring lower isolators, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed September 29, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 89D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 9, 2026. This recall replaces NHTSA recall numbers 26V051 and 23V413. Consequence: A missing gear selection indicator may lead to unintended vehicle movement or a vehicle rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4Xe and 2022-2026 Grand Cherokee 4Xe vehicles. The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A vehicle fire can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures and not to charge their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Dealers will update the high voltage battery software, and replace the high voltage battery, as necessary, free of charge. Some owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 17, 2025. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. When the master headlight switch is set to the AUTO position, the driver may be unable to quickly activate the high beams. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: High beam headlights that do not activate as intended can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will reconfigure the vehicle high beam parameters, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 7, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 12B.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems."

Consequence: An inoperative windshield defrosting and defogging system may decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, and 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles. The Central Vision Park Assist module (CVPAM) software may prevent the rearview image from displaying when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A rearview image that does not display while in reverse decreases the driver's visibility of the rear view, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Rear coil springs that detach from the vehicle while driving increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and if necessary, repair the rear coil spring assemblies, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 29, 2023.
