I am reporting a safety concern involving my 2019 Jeep. The primary systems of concern include the Forward Collision Warning/Automatic Emergency Braking system, front camera/driver-assistance system, electrical/communication network, PCM/ECM communication system, transmission/driveability system, and related control modules or sensors. While driving, the Jeep’s forward collision system activated unexpectedly. The vehicle reacted as though it detected an imminent collision, even though there was no appropriate reason for the system to activate in that manner. This created a serious safety risk because unexpected activation of a collision-warning or braking-related system can cause sudden driver reaction, loss of control, or a rear-end collision with vehicles behind me. This incident did not occur in isolation. The vehicle had been brought to the selling/servicing dealership, Bill Luke Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Phoenix, Arizona, numerous times before and after the safety incident. Issues began as early as approximately 3,523 miles. Between 2019 and 2025, the vehicle was taken to the dealership more than 19 times for recurring mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, and safety-related concerns. However, the vehicle was inspected multiple times by Bill Luke Chrysler, including several visits before the forward collision incident. My concern is that these may not be isolated failures, but part of a broader electrical, communication, sensor, or control-module issue affecting multiple systems.I also have concern that the vehicle may have had pre-sale service or diagnostic history that was not disclosed to me at the time of purchase. An internal dealership record appears to indicate that repair orders were purged from the dealership’s system on 10/29/2018, at approximately 8 miles and before I purchased it new in 2019. I was not provided an explanation of what repair orders were purged, why they were purged.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the ESC and ABS warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle unexpectedly shifted out of gear. The dealer was contacted to confirm the recalls. However, due to past experiences, the contact decided not to have the recall repair completed at the dealer. Another dealer, Eastchester Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (4007 Boston Rd, Bronx, NY 10466), was contacted; however, the dealer was unable to perform the recall repair because parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that the part was available for the recall repair; however, the manufacturer was unable to expedite parts to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

The car gets started, message pops up saying to safely put the vehicle into park it will shut off soon. It then starts shaking, will not allow you to shift gears, revs up still shaking, it then shuts off and all of the dash panels messages are popping up, ABS, a message to service the air suspension, engine light, car not in park (can't shift it) (we have put tire chucks to hopefully keep it from moving), etc are flashing as well as the interior lights, exterior lights flashing. The only way to get all of the lights to stop flashing is to unhook the brand new auxiliary battery. Mechanic has scanned for codes, more than 60 appear. Once we are able to reattach the battery, we were able to start it, put it into gear before all of the messages and lights started going off again.

This issue was also reported by my mechanic when I brought it in as he test drove it. He contacted the local dealership and they inspected as well. Both came to the same conclusion as to what the issue was. The dealership mentioned having repaired over 30 vehicles with the same issue outside of warranty. This issue is very intermittent, which makes it even more dangerous and harder to diagnose until it starts to happen more often as my vehicle put on more miles. No warning lights or messages of failure. I was almost hit broadside at an intersection and nearly rearended on the interstate at 65 mph. My life was seriously in jeopardy as I panic stricken to get power entering the interstate with my vehicle basically in neutral. I had to pull over and shift to park and then to Drive again. According the local dealership and many forums, Jeep is aware of this issue and has had NO RECALL since the majority are out of warranty by the time they are diagnosed. I am beyond frustrated at the sheer danger this has. I am lucky I didn't get hit, someone else may not be. This should have been a recall before the warranty expired. I am now out thousands of dollars on repair and looking for resolution.

For nearly a year, I have been unable to drive my vehicle due to a serious safety recall involving the HCU/ABS module. Despite the known risks — including false brake light illumination, disabled ABS and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and the ability to start and shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal — the manufacturer has failed to provide a remedy or even a timeline for repair. This delay is not only unacceptable, it is dangerous. I am a veteran who needs to drive to appointments frequently and have been having a lack of proper care because of this as well. The safety risks outlined in the recall are not hypothetical. They represent real, daily threats to myself, my family, and others on the road. A vehicle that can move without brake input poses a hazard even when parked. A disabled ABS and ESC system compromises control in emergency situations. And brake lights that activate erroneously can mislead other drivers, increasing the likelihood of a collision. These are not minor inconveniences — they are critical failures that could result in injury or death. What makes this situation even more urgent is that I am expecting a child. I cannot afford to gamble with safety, especially when the risks persist even while the vehicle is stationary. The fact that I’ve been unable to use my car for almost a year has disrupted my life and left me without reliable transportation during a time when I need it most. The manufacturer’s lack of action — no repair, no interim solution/refund, no meaningful communication — reflects a failure to prioritize customer safety and well-being. This recall has not been handled in a timely or responsible manner. I am calling on NHTSA to take immediate steps to resolve this issue, provide a safe and functional vehicle or refund to ensure that no other families are left vulnerable due to inaction.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles. A malfunction in the antilock-brake system (ABS) module may incorrectly illuminate the brake lights and disable the ABS and electronic stability control (ESC). In addition, the vehicle operator may be able to start and shift out of Park without the brake pedal being applied.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A vehicle that can be started and shifted out of Park without applying the brake pedal can result in a vehicle rollaway. Disabled ABS and ESC systems can reduce vehicle handling and control in certain driving situations. Brake lights that incorrectly illuminate can fail to properly indicate the driver's intention to following traffic. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the integrated pressure transducer and update the ABS module software, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 16, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 94B. This recall replaces previous recall number 22V-426. Vehicles previously remedied under 22V-426 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L Diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 3, 2023. Some owner notification letters were mailed October 31, 2023. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a future date, anticipated July 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 66A. This recall is an expansion of recall 20V-475.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 2014-2019 Ram 1500 vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. A high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure may introduce internal debris into the fuel system, potentially resulting in fuel starvation.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the HPFP, and inspect and replace, if necessary, additional fuel system components, free of charge. Interim notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed July 21, 2022. Owner notification letters for were mailed for Jeep Grand Cherokee owners starting January 11, 2024. Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A vehicle that starts and shifts out of Park without applying the brake pedal can result in vehicle rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash without prior warning and/or injury to others outside of the vehicle.

Remedy: This recall is replaced by NHTSA recall number 24V838. Vehicles already repaired under this recall will need to have the new remedy completed. The remedy includes updated HCU/ABS module software that prevents the HCU/ABS module from falsely reading pressure in the primary circuit. FCA has decided to do a two-Phase Campaign remedy schedule. Phase 1 began November 17, 2022. Phase 2 begin date has not been determined yet. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed July 28, 2020. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 29, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is Z48.

20V699000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:exhaust System:emission Control:gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve)

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with the 3.0L EcoDiesel engines. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler may crack and allow pre-heated vaporized coolant to enter the EGR system. This mixture may combust inside the intake manifold.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Combustion in the intake manifold can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will replace the EGR cooler, free of charge. Dealers will also inspect and, as necessary, replace the intake manifold. Parts are not currently available. Owners were mailed an interim notification on December 21, 2021. A second notification will be mailed when parts are available, currently expected to be around March 11, 2021. The recall began March 11, 2021. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Cherokee, 2019-2020 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Renegade and 2019 Dodge Challenger vehicles equipped with 8.4" or 12" radio displays. A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: The lingering rearview image can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will update the radio display software, free of charge. Optionally, owners can choose to remotely update their software via an Over-The-Air (OTA) update available as of May 1, 2020. The recall began April 27, 2020. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles. The front differential may have been assembled with pinion gears that are insufficiently hardened, which can lead to the gear teeth wearing down. If both pinion gears have their teeth sufficiently worn off, torque power can not be transferred from the front wheels to the driveline, resulting in loss of power while driving and loss of the PARK function when stationary.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A sudden loss of power while driving or loss of the transmission PARK function can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front differential, free of charge. The recall began May 21, 2020. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is W22.

EA23001 · High Pressure Fuel Pump Failure

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE21-021 on October 14, 2021, to investigate incidents alleging a stall/loss of motive power as a result of high-pressure fuel pump failures in certain model year (MY) 2019-2020 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 heavy duty trucks equipped with 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel engines. During the investigation, ODI sought to determine if the related defect allegation was limited in scope to the recalled population. After review of information request response materials from both FCA and BMW, NHTSA determined that sufficient information to identify a comprehensive recall population could not be produced by FCA and BMW.During the investigation FCA filed recalls 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087 which include vehicles not identified in the initial subject population by ODI. ODI also received recall 21V586, involving loss of motive power due to failed CP4 fuel pumps on certain BMW manufactured vehicles. An information request letter response received from BMW indicated that failed pumps on their vehicles were caused by an interaction between pump internal components and US market diesel fuel, leading to increased slip and eventual particle-generating wear surface. From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced.In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators.It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing.
