ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, ON A SLIGHT UPHILL INCLINE AT 70 MILES PER HOUR, SURROUNDED BY OTHER TRAFFIC INCLUDING SEMITRAILERS, THE JEEP ABRUPTLY LOST FORWARD POWER, ACTING LIKE IT HAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTAL. THIS LOSS OF POWER WAS ACCOMPANIED BY FLASHING DASHBOARD INDICATIONS OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND BY HORRIFIC CLUNKING SOUNDS AND SHUDDERS FROM UNDERNEATH. I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT, MIRACULOUSLY, TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT BEING KILLED. EVENTUALLY RESTARTED AND LIMPED TO A DEALER. DEALER KEPT JEEP TWO DAYS, SAID THEY REPLACED A "CONTROL MODULE", AND THAT IT WAS FIXED. NOT SO. ABOUT THIRTY DAYS LATER, AND WITHIN A WEEK OF HAVING THE JEEP CHECKED OVER AT A DIFFERENT DEALER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME AT ABOUT 25 MPH IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA DOWN A GENTLE DECLINE. JEEP HAD NO SUGGESTIONS FOR ME OTHER THAN TOW IT SOMEWHERE. LOST A FULL WORKDAY MESSING AROUND WITH THEM SEEKING A SOLUTION. NOW, DAYS LATER, I HAVE NO COMMUNICATION FROM THE DEALER OR FROM CHRYSLER/JEEP EXCEPT AN EMAIL SAYING THAT THE DEALER HAD DISCOVERED "CODES". NO WORD ON WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS TRANSMISSION, OR WHETHER JEEP CAN ACTUALLY FIX IT OR MERELY KEEP TOWING IT AFTER IT LEAVES ME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR GETS ME KILLED OR WORSE. COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE, UNSAFE, AND APPARENTLY IRREPARABLE. CHRYSLER/JEEP NEEDS TO GET THIS JUNK OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED! UPDATED 09/15/15*LJ *CN

9 SPEED TRANSMISSION STARTED HAVING HARD UP AND DOWN SHIFTS AT AROUND 10K MILES (MARCH 2015). THIS WAS NEAR TIME THE FCA ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON TCM AND PCM FOR KNOWN SOFTWARE CONTROL PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION. SW UPDATES WERE PERFORMED, YET TRANSMISSION CONTINUED TO SHIFT ERRATICALLY. PROBLEM THEN DEVELOPED INTO LURCHING DURING STOPS AND HESITATION WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MOVE. THE HESITATION PRESENTS SERIOUS CONCERN AS THE ABILITY TO ENTER TRAFFIC OR MERGE BECOMES DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS IF THE TRANSMISSION REFUSES TO ENGAGE. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP IN JUNE. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WITH SW UPDATES. FCA ULTIMATELY DECIDED TO REPLACE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. IT HAD 13.8K MILES ON IT. A MONTH LATER IT IS SHIFTING HARD AND LUGGING AGAIN. BACK AT DEALERSHIP. NOT CLEAR WHAT FCA WITH DO/OFFER NOW, AS THEY DON'T SEEM TO KNOW WHAT IS WRONG.

I PURCHASED MY BRAND NEW 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH 30 MILES. AFTER ABOUT 1500 MILES IT BEGAN SHIFTING VERY HARD IN LOW GEARS JERKING , IT RED LINES EXTREMELY HARD TO WHERE IT WILL JOLT THE JEEP AND WHEN I COME TO A STOP IT WOULD BEGIN RAISE RPMS AND ACCELERATE. IT WOULD SCARE ME SENSELESS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT'S HOW IT PERFORMS AND MADE ME LEAVE. 400 MILES LATER THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY BLEW OUT GOING 50 IN LA TRAFFIC. IT WAS ON BACK ORDER FOR A MONTH. SINCE THEN I HAVE TAKEN IT IN 8 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM A FEW TIMES THEY HAVE UPDATED THE TCM NOW THEY ARE SAYING THERE IS NO CODES AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE IT, EVEN THOUGH IT DOES IT EVERY SINGLE TIME. THE JEEP WILL NOT KNOW WHAT GEAR TO SHIFT AND LEAVE ME STRANDED IN INTERSECTIONS BEFORE IT SHIFTS AND PEELS OUT. WHEN I BREAK IT'LL PICK UP SPEED IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE. JEEP HAS NO FIX FOR IT AND WILL NOT BUY IT BACK NOR COMPENSATE ME IN ANYWAY THIS ISN'T RIGHT AND THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO BUY THESE BE BACK. LAST WEEKEND I TOOK IT ON A TRIP GOING DOWNHILL AT 60 MPH 2000 RPM I TAPPED THE BREAK AND THE JEEP REVVED TO 5000 RPMS ALSO MY HORN IS HE HARDEST HORN TO PUSH EVER IT DOES NOT WORK. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID ITS A LITTLE HARDER THAN NORMAL BUT THEY CANNOT REPLACE IT SINCE IT DOESN'T GIVE A CODE .EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER IS CONCERNED AND COMPLAINS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. ONE DAY THIS THING IS GOING TO GET ME IN A WRECK. I PAID GOOD MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE I JUST WANT SOMETHING SAFE AND RELIABLE FOR MY FAMILY. I WISH JEEP CHRYSLER HOWEVER IT IS WOULD JUST DO THE RIGHT THING.

I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED 2 MINUTES, STARTED THE CAR, EVERYTHING SEEMED OK EXCEPT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. WHEN I PULLED AWAY THE TRANS WOULD NOT GO OVER 45 MPH. I CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN IMMEDIATELY. 5 DAYS LATER THEY CHARGED ME $100 FOR A "FLASH" DOWNLOAD TO TRANS. I PICKED THE CAR UP AND WITHIN 48 HOURS THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN (8 TIMES IN 1 DAY), THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN, I DID (ASKED FOR A LOANER VEHICLE, THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME), THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECORDED FAULTS IN THE COMPUTER, A MECHANIC DROVE IT HOME 2 DAYS TO GET IT TO FAIL. 6 DAYS LATER I PICKED IT UP AFTER THEY INSTALLED A TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AT NO CHARGE. 24 HOURS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT INTO A SAFE AREA. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED 2 MINUTES, STARTED THE CAR, EVERYTHING SEEMED OK EXCEPT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, AS OF YESTERDAY THE CAR IS BACK IN THEIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WILL CALL THE FACTORY AGAIN TO SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO????? I'M A TRAVELING SALESMAN AND I'M VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS ISSUE WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT (IF I CAN'T DRIFT INTO A SAFE AREA TO "RESET" THE CAR) AND I HAVE DEVELOPED NO FAITH IN JEEP'S ABILITY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM! WHILE SHIFTING AT LOW SPEEDS THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO NOT SELECT THE CORRECT GEAR IN THE POWER TRAIN / TRANSMISSION. MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE IT SELECTS 2ND OR 3RD GEAR AND WHEN IT DOESN'T MOVE FAST ENOUGH IT SLAMS INTO 1ST. WHILE IN DRIVE TAKING OFF FROM STOP LIGHT FOR INSTANCE, THE GEARS OFTEN START WITH 2ND OR 3RD GEAR AGAIN AND WILL NOT TOO OFTEN REVERT TO 1ST GEAR, IT JUST ALLOWS FOR A VERY SLOW START. WHILE VISITING THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE, THE DEALER / SERVICE PERSON ADVISES ME IT'S A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION / GEARS EXPLODE FROM THIS VERY ISSUE AND CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUES BUT CONTINUE TO SEND OUT RECALL NOTICES FOR FIXES.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE, I NOTICED A DEGREE OF SLUGGISHNESS DURING TRANSMISSION SHIFTS AND LACK OF ABILITY TO REACH 9TH GEAR USING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE MODE. 9TH GEAR IS UNATTAINABLE. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION "LEARNS" TO AN INDIVIDUAL'S DRIVING STYLE; BE PATIENT. AT 3775 MILES 4 AUG. 2014, I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THEY DID, AS THEY TERMED IT, A SOFTWARE UPDATE; BUT THE UPDATE DIDN'T REALLY FIX THE PROBLEM. ON 09 APR., 2015 I AGAIN RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. THEY REPORTED THAT THEY HAD PERFORMED A REPROGRAM OF TRANSMISSION AND POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULES (R01 18-R0-11-84 0.5 & 18-RO-11-52 0.8). SINCE THEN, MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN PERFORMING EVEN WORSE. APPROACHING AN UPHILL INCLINE, THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T DOWNSHIFT UNTIL IT NEARLY STOPS; THEN IT SUDDENLY AFTER 3-5 SECONDS, LUNGES FORWARD. ALSO I EXPERIENCED A NEAR 'T' BONE MISS, AS I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP SIGN BECAUSE. THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE STUCK IN A HIGH GEAR AND WOULDN'T RESPOND EXPECT IN A SLUGGISH WAY THAT ONLY GOT ME IN THE WAY OF APPROACHING TRAFFIC. BY AGGRESSIVELY PUSHING ON THE GAS IT EVENTUALLY SHIFTED AND BOLTED OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I CONTACTED THE DEALER ABOUT THIS, AND WAS TOLD THERE IS ANOTHER SOFTWARE UPDATE DUE ABOUT THE END OF JUNE 2015. I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN DURING THE WEEK OF 6 JULY, BUT WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO UPDATE. FRANKLY, I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. IT JUST ISN'T SAFE BEHAVING IN THIS UNPREDICTABLE MANNER. I'VE GIVEN IT ENOUGH MILES TO ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION/DRIVETRAIN TO LEARN MY DRIVING HABITS. WHEN I DO DRIVE IT, I'M RELUCTANT TO HAVE ANYONE ELSE IN THE VEHICLE. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT YOUR OFFICE/NHTSA CAN DO TO MOTIVATE CHRYSLER-FIAT TO ELIMINATE THIS CONCERNING ISSUE? THE DEALER IS YORK, 500 PRESCOTT LAKES PARKWAY, PRESCOTT, AZ 86301.

ON APRIL 1, 2015 WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP TO MERGING INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. WARNING CAME ON THE DASH TELLING ME " TRANSMISSION NEEDS SERVICE. NO POWER. PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD. PUT CAR IN PARK AND SHUT OFF ENGINE." THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON JULY 17, 2015 WHILE MY WIFE WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN FROM A COMPLETE STOP. THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED AGAIN AND SHE LOST ALL POWER. SHE WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK WHO WAS BEHIND HER BUT MADE THE LEFT HAND TURN WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN. SHE HAD OUR 2 GRAND DAUGHTERS IN THE BACK SET AND WAS SCARED AND AFRAID FOR THEIR SAFETY. THIS 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE MODEL HAS HAD CONTINUED ISSUES WITH THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND ALL JEEP DOES IS ISSUE SOFTWARE UPGRADES TO TRY TO ELIMINATE THE SHIFTING AND POOR ACCELERATION PROBLEMS THIS TRANSMISSION CONTINUES TO HAVE. WITH THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGING AT LOWER SPEEDS SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF NOT SERIOUSLY HURT. THE NHTSA NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL TO JEEP BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED BY THIS FAULTY TRANSMISSION THAT WAS BROUGHT TO MARKET BEFORE LONG TERM TEST COULD BE CONDUCTED ON IT TO MAKE SURE IT FUNCTIONS PROPERLY AND SAFELY.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a two-speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Relative movement in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) between the differential input splines and the transmission output shaft may cause some input spline teeth to wear off, which may eventually cause a loss of engagement between the transmission and the differential inside the PTU. If this occurs, power cannot be transferred between the front wheels and the transmission which results in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the Park function while stationary.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of drive can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A loss of the Park function can cause unintended vehicle rollaway which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy: FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update that will maintain vehicle propulsion by engaging rear wheel drive and prevent rolling in Park by activating the electronic parking brake if a failed input spline occurs. This recall began July 14, 2020. Owners may contact FCA USA LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is W47.

3PE22009 · Electronic Parking Brake Water Ingress
Opened Jul 22, 2022 · Closed Oct 29, 2023
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Parking Brake:electrical; Parking Brake:electrical:control Module
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened investigation PE22-009 after having received 80 complaints on model years 2014-2020 Jeep Cherokees alleging the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) inadvertently activated while the vehicle was in motion.During this investigation, the subject vehicles were updated to include only Model Years (MY) 2014-2016, while MY 2017-2020 were considered peers.Based on related repair invoices, ODI believed the EPB module was damaged by water leaking into the vehicle. When the EPB inadvertently activates, it can cause a stalling condition bringing the vehicle to a stop. ODI was aware of recall 15V-393 that addresses water ingress affecting the power liftgate module on nearly the same population of vehicles subject of this investigation. The liftgate module can potentially catch fire as a result of the water damage. Both the liftgate and EPB modules are located in a similar area of the vehicle. On May 11, 2016, the manufacturer released a Technical Service Bulleting (ODI #10191415, FCA #08-060-16) that instructs dealers on replacing the EPB module and inspecting the electrical connector for corrosion if a customer describes having the EPB not releasing. This Preliminary Evaluation was opened to assess the scope, frequency, and safety-related consequences of the alleged defect. On September 8th, 2022, ODI sent an information request letter to Fiat Chrysler US LLC (FCA) requesting pertinent information on the subject 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee and Peer 2017-2020 Jeep Cherokee vehicles. FCA Provided its full response on October 27th, 2022 after ODI granted a one-week extension. ODI has reviewed the information FCA provided as well as new reports submitted to NHTSA’s Vehicle Owner Questionnaire database. Based on a review of all available information, ODI has identified evidence supporting a total of 1,655 subject vehicles that likely experienced a failure of the subject EPB. Within the subject vehicle complaints, ODI identified the 2014 Model Year (MY) Jeep Cherokee as having the highest rate of failure, while also being the oldest group of vehicles in this investigation. The 2014 Jeep Cherokees that likely experienced a failure of the subject EPB represent an incident rate of approximately 0.58%. The average Time In Service (TIS) at failure was 2.6 years and the oldest failure occurred at 8.5 years in service. The 2014 population of vehicles is at 9 years in service. All other MY Jeep Cherokee vehicles (both subject and peer) within this investigation had significantly lower failure rates than the 2014 MY Jeep Cherokee. ODI has reviewed all the information available at this time, and identified four allegations of a crash, three allegations of injuries, and one allegation of a fire. Two of the crash allegations alleged injuries, and the alleged injuries were minor severity. All of the alleged injuries appeared to be consistent with hard braking and did not need medical attention. There was no supporting information that demonstrated a fire had occurred on the vehicle. In its response to ODI, FCA provided its assessment of the alleged defect in the subject vehicles, stating that it does not believe the alleged defect poses an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety. FCA states the majority of incidents involving the EPB inadvertently activating occurred while the vehicle was stationary and that a small number of incidents occurred while the vehicle was backing up or at low speeds. This is consistent with ODI’s observations. Based on the analysis conducted by ODI, this investigation will be closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist. NHTSA reserves the right take additional actions if warranted by future circumstances. To review the ODI reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.

EA21002 · Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture
Opened Sep 17, 2021 · No close date supplied
Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Air Bags:frontal:driver Side:inflator Module; Air Bags:frontal:passenger Side:inflator Module
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.

On July 23, 2015, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) launched Safety Recall 15V-461 to remedy security vulnerabilities in approximately 1.4 million model year (MY) 2013 through 2015 vehicles equipped with Uconnect head units (HU) 8.4A (RA3 radio) and 8.4AN (RA4 radio) manufactured by Harman International. On July 24, 2015, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Recall Query, RQ 15-004, to investigate HU security vulnerabilities and remedy effectiveness in the recalled population and to determine whether similar units have been supplied for use in other FCA vehicles. In an August 11, 2015 letter, FCA submitted a second Part 573 safety recall report expanding the scope of the Uconnect RA4 model radio to include additional 7,810 MY 2015 Jeep Renegade vehicles manufactured from September 18, 2014 through June 25, 2015 (Recall 15V-508).Scope analysis indicated that Uconnect radios installed in FCA vehicles not included in recalls 15V-461 or 15V-508 (subject recalls) are not equipped with built-in cellular access or short range wireless communication features and, thus, do not contain the security vulnerabilities addressed by the subject recalls. SUBJECT VEHICLES: MY2014 through 2015 Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Cherokee sport utility vehicles; MY2013 through 2015 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 and 4500/5500 pickup trucks; MY2013 through 2015 Dodge Viper vehicles; and MY2015 Chrysler 200, 300, Jeep Renegade, Dodge Charger and Challenger vehicles.According to FCA, long and short range wireless vulnerabilities identified in the recalled vehicles could allow unauthorized third-party access to, and manipulation of, networked vehicle control systems.Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities, coupled with reverse engineering of networked microprocessor control modules, could result in unauthorized manipulation of vehicle control systems. This unauthorized manipulation of vehicle controls and systems could expose the driver, vehicle occupants or other highway users to an increased risk of injury.FCA and its network provider, Sprint, conducted a nationwide campaign to block access to a radio communications port that was unintentionally left open.On July 27, 2015, short range wireless vulnerabilities were also blocked. Finally, third party security evaluation and regression testing identified vulnerabilities that were either remedied by Sprint or through updates to the FCA Uconnect software.ODI identified a total of 30 complaints or field reports on unique vehicles submitted by FCA (29) or received by NHTSA (1) alleging incidents of theft from a vehicle or anomalous performance that the owner alleged were caused by, or may have been caused by, remote hacking.Twenty-six (87%) of these reports were submitted after a magazine article was published on July 21, 2015, describing the remote hacking of an FCA vehicle by researchers who were able to affect the operation of various vehicle control systems, including the service brakes, steering, throttle and ignition. Most of the complaints involved vehicle systems that were not safety critical (e.g., complaints related to radio, navigation system, or air-conditioning control) and did not affect vehicle control.Three complaints reported engine stalls. One owner reported sudden unintended acceleration allegedly related to hacking.None of the complaints or field reports reviewed involved the steering and braking vehicle control effects demonstrated by the research hackers prior to the recall. There were no confirmed incidents of hacking in any of the records reviewed by ODI.The remedies completed by Sprint and FCA appear to have eliminated vulnerabilities that mi
