The contact owns a 2006 Jaguar XJ. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle abruptly decelerated, after which the contact became aware that the parking brake had been applied. The parking brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the electronic parking brake control module. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 04V488000 (Parking), but the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 113,000.

06V358000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:storage:tank Assembly

SOME PASSENGER VEHICLES MAY HAVE FUEL TANKS IN WHICH THE FUEL DELIVERY MODULE (FDM), JET PUMP MODULE (JPM, AND/OR CLUSTER VALVE (CV) SEALS ARE NOT PROPERLY RETAINED IN THE FUEL TANK. THIS MAY RESULT IN ILLUMINATION OF THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL), OR A FUEL ODOR.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IF THE LEVEL OF FUEL IS ABOVE THE FDM, JPM, OR CV APERTURES, FUEL MAY LEAK OUT OF THE TANK. A FUEL LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL TANKS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 31, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAGUAR AT 1-800-452-4827.

ON CERTAIN SEDANS EQUIPPED WITH MOONROOFS, A REINFORCEMENT BAR WAS INCORRECTLY ASSEMBLED SO THAT THE BAR MAY CONTACT THE GLASS IN THE MOONROOF. WHEN CLOSING A DOOR OR UPON SEVERE ROAD IMPACT, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE MOONROOF GLASS MAY SHATTER.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IF THE GLASS SHATTERS, THERE IS A RISK OF INJURY TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE MOONROOF FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 27, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAGUAR AT 1-800-452-4827.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: CONSEQUENTLY 'PARK' MAY NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE LEVER IN THE VEHICLE IS MOVED TO 'PARK" AND ALL INDICATORS SHOW 'PARK' POSITION IS ACHIEVED.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PARKING PAWL GUIDE PLATE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN NOVEMBER 22, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAGUAR AT 1-800-452-4827.

THE OFFICE OF DEFECTS INVESTIGATION (ODI) OPENED PE06-030 BASED ON THREE COMPLAINTS ALLEGING LARGE QUANTITIES OF GASOLINE LEAKAGE FROM THE FUEL TANKS (NOT FROM THE FILLER PIPES) OF MODEL YEAR (MY) 2006 JAGUAR XJ VEHICLES. ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2006, FORD MOTOR COMPANY SUBMITTED A DEFECT NOTICE (PART 573) TO NHTSA DESCRIBING A DEFECT CONDITION THAT COULD RESULT IN LEAKAGE FROM ONE OR MORE OF THREE SEALED APERTURES ON THE UPPER SURFACE OF THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLIES IN APPROXIMATELY 6,199 MY 2006-2007 JAGUAR XJ VEHICLES BUILT AT THE BROWNS LANE AND CASTLE BROMWICH (UK) ASSEMBLY PLANTS AND SOLD IN THE UNITED STATES AND FEDERALIZED TERRITORIES. ACCORDING TO FORD, ?SOME OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY CONTAIN A FUEL TANK THAT WAS NOT MADE TO SPECIFICATION. THIS MAY RESULT IN ILLUMINATION OF THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL), A FUEL ODOR, OR FUEL LEAKING FROM FUEL DELIVERY MODULE (FDM), JET PUMP MODULE (JPM) AND/OR CLUSTER VALVE (CV) SEALS. FUEL LEAKAGE IS MOST LIKELY TO OCCUR ONLY AFTER A FUEL TANK HAS BEEN FULLY FILLED WITH FUEL.? FORD'S DATA SHOWED A TOTAL OF 52 COMPLAINTS RELATING TO THE DEFECT CONDITION, CONSISTING OF 9 CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS, 27 DEALER FIELD REPORTS OF FUEL LEAKS, 15 TECHNICAL HOTLINE SERVICE REPORTS AND 1 FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER REPORT OF A VISIT TO A CAR DEALERSHIP FOR THE FUEL TANK LEAK CONDITION.IN ADDITION, FORD'S WARRANTY DATA SHOWED 265 CLAIMS ?WHERE LEAKS AND FUEL ODOR WERE REPORTED, OF WHICH 156 [WARRANTY] CLAIMS INCLUDED CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS OF [GASOLINE] LIQUID LEAKS.?THIS PRELIMINARY EVALUATION HAS BEEN CLOSED, AS JAGUAR IS RECALLING THE AFFECTED VEHICLES TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANKS (RECALL 06V-358).
