TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JAGUAR S-TYPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, SHE SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND THERE WAS A SUDDEN ACCELERATION, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A POLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER BLADE, WHICH EXTENDED TO HER FINGER TIPS. THE WHEEL AND REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE PANEL WERE EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP FOR REPAIRS. THERE WAS NO PRIOR MAINTENANCE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE OCCURRENCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.

CERTAIN SEDANS MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH AN INCORRECTLY MANUFACTURED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PARKING PAWL GUIDE PLATE.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: CONSEQUENTLY 'PARK' MAY NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE LEVER IN THE VEHICLE IS MOVED TO 'PARK" AND ALL INDICATORS SHOW 'PARK' POSITION IS ACHIEVED.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PARKING PAWL GUIDE PLATE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN NOVEMBER 22, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAGUAR AT 1-800-452-4827.
