I AM MAKING THIS REPORT TO ALERT YOU TO WHAT I BELIEVE IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION IN A NEWLY OFFERED VEHICLE SYSTEM, AS REPORTED BY A WRITER ([XXX] ) FOR MOTOR TREND MAGAZINE. I DO NOT OWN THIS VEHICLE NOR ANY INFINITI MODEL. THE VEHICLE INVOLVED IS BEING USED BY THE MAGAZINE AS A LONG TERM TEST VEHICLE. THE MAGAZINE REPORTED AT HTTP://WWW.MOTORTREND.COM/ROADTESTS/ONEYEAR/SEDANS/1412_2014_INFINITI_Q50S_37_UPDATE_5/ THAT THE ACTIVE LANE CONTROL SYSTEM CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO VEER TOWARD FREEWAY EXITS. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS DANGEROUS AND IS LIKELY TO RESULT IN BOTH SINGLE-VEHICLE AND MULTIPLE-VEHICLE CRASHES. THE SINGLE-VEHICLE CRASHES ARE LIKELY TO OCCUR WHEN THE DRIVER FAILS TO ACT IN TIME. THE MULTIPLE-VEHICLE CRASHES ARE LIKELY TO OCCUR WHEN THE DRIVER SWERVES TO CORRECT THE CAR'S PATH, AND EITHER HITS OTHER CARS, OR CAUSES THEM TO BRAKE AND SWERVE TO MISS THE INFINITI. IN ORDER TO PROTECT ALL MOTORISTS AND PASSENGERS, PLEASE REQUIRE ALL MANUFACTURERS WHOSE SYSTEMS EXHIBIT THIS CONDITION TO DISABLE THE SYSTEM ON ALL VEHICLES AND STOP MANUFACTURING IT. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

2014 Q50S SHUT OFF BOTH THE NAVIGATION SCREEN AND THE INTOUCH SCREEN WHICH CONTROLS THE CLIMATE CONTROL, DEFROSTER, RADIO, CABIN LIGHTING SETTINGS, AUTOMATIC WIPER SETTINGS, ETC. IN THE CAR. ONLY WAY TO GET THEM TO RESTART AND FUNCTION WAS TO PULL OVER AND RE-START THE CAR. INFINITI SENT AN ENGINEER TO MY RETAILER AND TOLD ME MY PHONES BLUETOOTH IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH INTOUCH, NOR THE BLUETOOTH FUNCTIONALITY OF THE CAR. AS SUCH, IT IS CREATING THIS "GLITCH" IN THE SYSTEM. I WAS NEVER ADVISED AT TIME OF PURCHASE MY PHONE WAS NOT COMPATIBLE AND WOULD CREATE SUCH AN ISSUE. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A NISSAN NORTH AMERICA APPROVED DEVICE FOR BLUETOOTH IT COULD APPARENTLY CREATE THIS PROBLEM. NOTE: PHONES ON THE APPROVED LIST ARE AT LEAST 3 YEARS OLD, SO IF YOU BOUGHT A PHONE IN THE LAST 3 YEARS IT LIKELY IS NOT APPROVED FOR USE. I LIVE IN UTAH AND WINTERS CAN BE ROUGH AND I USE THE DEFROSTER FREQUENTLY. TO HAVE THIS NOT WORK IS QUITE DANGEROUS. *TR

THE SEATBELT ON THE DRIVER SIDE WILL TIGHTEN UP ACROSS NECK AND CHEST WHEN DRIVER ASSIST CONTROLS GO OFF AT WILL WHEN CAR IS COMING TO A STOP OR WHEN CAR IS BEING DRIVEN ON UNEVEN OR BUMPY ROADS. THE SEATBELT CHOKES ME AS THOUGH I AM IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE INJURY ON MY CHEST. IN JULY, AFTER THE SEATBELT DID THIS, I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF MY NECK. IT WAS VERY PAINFUL, I HAD TWO PAIN INJECTIONS DONE AND NEITHER WORKED. I HAVE LUPUS WHICH AFFECTS MY JOINTS AND WHEN I WAS SENT TO HAVE A SECOND OPINION, THE FIRST THING THE DOCTOR ASKED WAS, HAD I BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I MENTIONED THE SEATBELT AND HE SAID IT IS A POSSIBILITY THAT IT INFLAMED THE AREA. I HAD TO HAVE SURGERY ON OCTOBER 14, 2014. THE CAR DISPLAY SYSTEM FREEZES. I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR BACK TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY 5 TIMES WITH THE MOST TIMES BEING WHEN IT HAD LESS THAN 1000 MILES. I HAVE CONTACTED INFINITI AND THEY HAVE SET UP 2 CASES, WITH NO EFFECTIVE RESULTS. I HAVE NEVER TURNED THE HEATER ON BECAUSE THE CAR GETS VERY HOT INSIDE AND I CAN FEEL THE HEAT ON MY FEET ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I AM ANEMIC (VERY COLD NATURED) IN THE SUMMER 82 DEGREES IS COMFORTABLE FOR ME. THIS CAR GETS VERY HOT. I CAN FEEL THE HEAT ON THE OUTSIDE AND SOMETIMES I SMELL SOMETHING BURNING WHEN I GET OUT. THE DISPLAY PANEL GIVES ERRONEOUS INFORMATION SUCH AS "OTHER MAINTENANCE?" AND "TIRE MAINTENANCE?" BUT WHEN CHECKED, EVERYTHING IS FINE. I HAVE TIRED TO WORK SOMETHING OUT BUT THEY ARE REFUSING TO ACCOMMODATE ME. WHETHER THEY REFUND MY DOWN PAYMENT AND ENOUGH WHERE I COULD TRADE OUT OF THIS CAR. THIS IS A LEASED VEHICLE (36) MONTHS. MONEY FOR PAIN AND SUFFERING. BECAUSE OF THIS SURGERY, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RETURN TO WORK UNTIL DECEMBER AND I AM OFF WITHOUT PAY AND THIS WILL BE ADDITIONAL TIME WITHOUT PAY. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH BBB. PLEASE HELP ME. *TR

INFINITI Q50- VEHICLE BEGAN PULLING SEVERELY TO THE LEFT, REQUIRING ME TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL RIGHT IN ORDER TO DRIVE STRAIGHT AND AVOID COLLIDING HEAD ON WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE ISSUE PERSISTS UNTIL THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN AT 5-7 MINUTES CONTINUOUSLY, STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE DOES NOT CORRECT THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ISSUE. ISSUE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES STARTING MARCH 2014, DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. 3/7/14 DEALER PERFORMED DASH SOFTWARE UPDATE CLAIMED THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. 3/27/14 RETURNED VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AFTER SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES, DEALER WAS UNABLE TO RE-CREATE THE ISSUE , RETURNED VEHICLE WITH NO ATTEMPT AT REPAIR, PROVIDING THIS LIST OF INSTRUCTIONS; #1 WHEN PARKING THE VEHICLE, STRAIGHTEN THE WHEELS BEFORE TURNING OFF THE CAR #2 DO NOT TOUCH STEERING WHEEL AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF #3 DO NOT TOUCH STEERING WHEEL WHEN ENTERING THE CAR UNTIL THE CAR HAS BEEN TURNED ON #4 AFTER PLACING THE CAR IN REVERSE, BACK UP SEVERAL INCHES BEFORE TOUCHING THE STEERING WHEEL (YES, I ACTUALLY HAVE THIS IN WRITING). UPON RECEIVING THIS INSANE CHECKLIST, I CALLED INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS. THEY SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN ENGINEER FOR 4/14/14, BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT THE PROBLEM OCCURRED ONCE AGAIN PROMPTING ME TO DROP THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER ON 4/9/14. INFINITI STILL COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. BUT THEY REPLACED THE STEERING CONTROL SYSTEM. 10/1/14, VEHICLE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE. DEALERSHIP PERFORMED STEERING CALIBRATION UPDATE. INFINITY DENIED MY REQUEST TO BUY BACK THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS VEHICLE STATING IT HAS NOT BEEN SERVICED AN ??EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF TIMES??. I AM SHOCKED AND APPALLED THAT INFINITI HAS BEEN SO CASUAL REGARDING A POTENTIALLY FATAL FLAW IN THIS VEHICLE, THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY FAMILY IS AT RISK WHEN OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. *TR

ON MAY 28, 2014 PURCHASED A NEW INFINITI Q50. 1 WEEK LATER NOTICED A BUMP ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE A DUNLOP 245/40R19. CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT MUST BE A WARRANTY ISSUE ON THE TIRE. A WEEK LATER THE TIRE BLEW UP IN THAT BUMP AND I NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE DUNLOP DEALER IN PR ACKNOWLEDGED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TIRE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRE AT A NET COST OF $530 EACH. ABOUT 7 WEEKS LATER ANOTHER TIRE REVEALED A BUMP THIS TIME WAS THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THE DUNLOP DEALER INDICATED THE BUMP WILL ALLOW THE USE THE TIRE UNTIL A ROAD BUMP MATCHES THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE BUMP THAT WILL CAUSE THE TIRE TO BREAK AND EMPTY. ON 10-04-14 THAT EVENT HAPPENED AND ANOTHER TIRE GOT DAMAGED. THIS AGAIN IS A DUNLOP TIRE 240/40R19 WHICH HAS ENGRAVED ON IT A NUMBER U28T ATBR0914. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER AND DUNLOP TIRE REPRESENTATIVE THERE IS NO FORMAL RECALL ON THESE TIRES, HENCE I HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRE WITH A NEW ONE, SO ANOTHER $530 FOR A NEW TIRE. I AM VERY CONCERNED AS A 3RD TIRE IS NOW DISPLAYING A VERY SMALL BUMP AND I SUSPECT IT WILL DEVELOP INTO THE SAME SCENARIO OF THE PREVIOUS 2 TIRES. THE CAR ONLY HAS ABOUT 7000 MILES DRIVEN, TO THERE MUST BE A PROBLEM.THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AT AMBAR INFINITI IN PUERTO RICO. MORE DETAILS, PICTURES OF THE TIRES, AND VIN # AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. *TR

I GOT HOME, TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED APPROX 5 MINS AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE CAR CONTINUED PULLING TO THE LEFT. I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT FOR AN ADDITIONAL 6-7 MILES IN AN EFFORT TO GET IT TO THE DEALER AND PRIOR TO GETTING TO THE DEALER, IT STARTED DRIVING PROPERLY. THE DEALER SAID THAT SINCE AN ERROR DID NOT APPEAR, THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING. I TOOK THE CAR IN ANYWAY AND AN ENGINEER LOOKED AT THE CAR ON 8/4/14 AND THE ONLY THING IN THE LOGS WAS THAT THE CAR HAD LOW VOLTAGE. WE RESEARCHED STEERING ISSUES WITH THE Q50 AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE INSTANCES DOCUMENTED WHERE OTHER CONSUMERS ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. I LIVE IN ARIZONA AND OBVIOUSLY THIS ISSUE IS NOT RELATED TO COLD CLIMATES AS INITIALLY INDICATED IN THE RECALL. THIS CAR WAS BUILT IN APR 2014, WHICH IS AFTER THE RECALL AND SIMILAR STEERING ISSUES ARE OCCURRING. *TR

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In April 2014, Nissan North America launched Safety Recall 14V-138 to address problems with the Occupant Classification System (OCS) algorithm in the following vehicles: model year (MY) 2013-2014 Nissan Altima, Pathfinder, Sentra and LEAF; MY 2013 Infiniti JX35; MY 2014 Infiniti QX60 and Q50; and MY 2013 Nissan NV 200/Taxi vehicles.According to Nissan, the OCS may misclassify adult front passenger occupants and turn off the passenger's frontal air bag for an adult occupant of sufficient weight.In March 2015, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Recall Query after the agency received approximately 124 complaints alleging problems with the OCS after the recall repairs and/or other OCS related repairs were made by Nissan/Infiniti dealers.The majority of the complaints alleged the passenger air bag status light stays on (i.e., indicating passenger air bag is turned off) for adult front passengers of sufficient weight.Many of the complaints stated the dealers have made multiple repairs but the problem still persists.In its June 2015 response to ODI's information request under the Recall Query, Nissan provided approximately 1,121 complaints and field reports on the recalled vehicles.These reports alleged OCS issues similar to the NHTSA reports described above.At this time, NHTSA has received a total of approximately 208 complaints (note: total of 1,271 reports shown in the table above eliminates 58 duplicative reports received by ODI and manufacturer).This Recall Query has been upgraded to an Engineering Analysis (EA15-004) to conduct a comparative assessment and further evaluate the effectiveness of the recall remedy which will include a thorough review of the countermeasures taken by Nissan and its suppliers.The ODI reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the following identification numbers:10583283 10585264 10585349 10585379 10592434 10593399 10593501 10594329 10594614 10594755 10595161 10595645 10595946 10596128 10596459 10596952 10597037 10597452 10597518 10597719 10598537 10598869 10604755 10604834 10605188 10605251 10606565 10606828 10607038 10609649 10610519 10610991 10614467 10614609 10614745 10616905 10617008 10617507 10617903 10618099 10618202 10619059 10619563 10620719 10621840 10622214 10625808 10625981 10625998 10626006 10626023 10626335 10626458 10626732 10628355 10629382 10629460 10629606 10630441 10630502 10630990 10632251 10632588 10632934 10632997 10633714 10633810 10637994 10638591 10639040 10639147 10639324 10639473 10643046 10643843 10644203 10644333 10644341 10644690 10644891 10644985 10648834 10648997 10649414 10649772 10649874 10651360 10651564 10651924 10651982 10652024 10658665 10658844 10659484 10660294 10661195 10661358 10661541 10661795 10661855 10662901 10663033 10663338 10663860 10663978 10668054 10668768 10670538 10672807 10673088 10676471 10678478 10678997 10679512 10680748 10680769 10680975 10681656 10682235 10682902 10682993 10683391 10683689 10689672 10689809 10689981 10691626 10692137 10692558 10692625 10693168 10695312 10700614 10700960 10701008 10701011 10701014 10701018 10701023 10701027 10701031 10701032 10701035 10701045 10701055 10701064 10701074 10701146 10701196 10701228 10701237 10701254 10701301 10701306 10701326 10701367 10701370 10701384 10701415 10701453 10701526 10701558 10701656 10701670 10701946 10702003 10702667 10702798 10703032 10703657 10703766 10703813 10704196 10704988 10705530 10705919 10706621 10712543 10712568 10712575 10713335 10714316 10714330 10714536 10714980 10715132 10715945 10717336 10720918 10720971 10721331 10721746 10723424 10724568 10731167 10731868 10732012 10732065
