The vehicle is equipped with multiple safety monitoring systems. One of these systems is the lane departure correction. Unlike a gentle reminder as on most other vehicles, this vehicle applies on brake to force the vehicle in the opposite direction. This correction is violent. A new driver to this vehicle can try to compensate for this abrupt movement of the vehicle, overcompensating to a dangerous degree. The manufacturer is aware of this issue, along with numerous other safety systems issues. The vehicle constantly provides alerts for multiple systems, to the point many drivers simply turn all systems off. However the process to turn them off is tedious and must be repeated each time the car is started. As an alternative, many drivers just ignore all alerts. Ineos is reportedly coming out with an update, however this process should be monitored along with the sensitivity of these systems, and permitting the vehicle owner to have more control over which systems they choose to activate.

Incident Summary: I am reporting a recurring and dangerous failure of the vehicle’s lane-keeping/automated steering system. The vehicle provides unprompted, forceful steering inputs that fight the driver’s control, creating an immediate risk of high-speed collisions. Incident 1 (I-5 North): Traveling at 70 mph in the right-hand lane. Every few minutes, the vehicle initiated an unprompted steer to the left. I had to physically fight the steering wheel to maintain center and avoid a crash. The behavior only ceased when I moved to the left-hand lane. Incident 2 (I-80 East, Reno/Mogul, NV): Traveling at 65 mph in the left-hand lane. The vehicle initiated a sudden, forceful steer to the right, nearly causing a side-swipe collision with an adjacent vehicle. I had to use significant physical force to override the system and prevent an accident. Systemic Failure & Safety Concern: There is currently no way to permanently disable this system in the vehicle settings. Because the system defaults to "ON" upon every ignition cycle, I am forced to drive a vehicle that unpredictably attempts to steer into other lanes or off the road. The inability to permanently opt out of this malfunctioning "safety" feature is a grave concern, as the system itself has become the primary collision hazard.
