On Monday, 09/14/2026 at approximately 10:15am Mountain Time Utah State Route 36, North-bound. -- I was driving straight, approximately 60mph on dry road on a sunny day. There was no other traffic on the road either ahead, alongside, or behind me and no oncomming traffic. The Automatic Emergency Braking engaged, the emergency braking indicator flashed on the dashboard and the car slowed way down and then it just stopped engaging and the car rolled freely. I believe that the forward collision warning also sounded. NOTE-- this is not the first time this has happened to me. It has happened at least 3 to 4 times over the past two years since we leased the vehicle. I have asked the dealership service department to look at it, but they state that they can find no indication of any problem and that they have been unable to reproduce the event.

None of the emergency brake systems activated including the automatic emergency braking and front collision warning, which lead to my car driving into the semi-truck.

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that on three occasions while driving at 65 MPH, the automatic emergency braking system engaged erroneously. While driving at 45 MPH, the failure recurred, but the vehicle resumed normal operation. The automatic emergency braking message illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V316000 (Forward Collision Avoidance). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified, a case was opened, and the contact was informed that the dealer would have to duplicate the failure for repair coverage. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

While driving my 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid at approximately 20-25 mph approaching a red light, a sudden and total loss of brake power-assist occurred. Upon applying the brakes, the pedal became instantly rigid and rock-hard. Despite pumping the pedal multiple times and applying heavy manual foot pressure, the vehicle failed to stop, resulting in a low-speed rear-end collision with a stationary car stopped at the traffic light. No dashboard warning lights or malfunction indicators illuminated during or immediately following the event. After the collision, the vehicle's ignition was turned off and then restarted. Following this power cycle, normal braking functionality temporarily returned. The low-speed impact displaced an ultrasonic sensor in the front bumper. This intermittent electronic brake failure poses a catastrophic safety hazard to pedestrians and occupants if it recurs at higher speeds

Very scary as the car starts to slow down from a high speed, very jolting. I've complained to Hyundai but they claim they are not aware of the issue and there are no codes the vehicle puts out so they cant investigate further without replicating the issue, but its random and you don't know when its happening. I've looked online and it appears there are quite a bit of 2023/2024 Tucson's that are having the exact same issue I am.

From the first day of purchase last June 2024, the front collision warning and avoidance system does not perform as advertised. If a vehicle cuts you off or you approach a vehicle too quickly the warning and braking do not intercede. I’ve taken the car to our local deal 3 times and they have found no trouble codes and say there is nothing they can do. I was also told by the service department manager “that they are all like that”. As a reference, we owned a 2019 Kia Sorrento for 140,000 miles and that collision avoidance system worked perfectly. I also contacted Hyundia National Service and they simply sent me back to the dealer. Lastly, I submitted a Lemon Law request that was rejected by Hyundia.

While traveling at highway speeds behind a slow poke, 2 cars passed me on either side at nearly the same time. this caused the auto braking system to activate, abruptly slowing my car for now reason. Luckily no one was tailgating me at the time. This is the 4th time the car has braked for no good reason on the highway (see previous reports) and the 2nd time when 2 cars passed on either side at the same time. This is clearly a software bug that needs to be fixed!

This confused the cars auto breaking feature. The lane ahead was clear for over 100 yrds. My car braked hard and beeped a warning. There was no reason for the car to do this. This is the 3rd time the car has braked on the hwy when it was not necessary. Previously, I assumed Road trip bugs on the censor caused the issue, That could not have been the cause this time. This is also a concern because the spyware in the car is sold to insurance Companies Apparently, as bad driving behavior which may affect my rates.
