HYUNDAI HAS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I FIND THAT STRANGE SINCE THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS ISSUE. THE ESC AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON.

(ELECTRIAL ISSUES) REPORTED TO DEALER THAT RADIO CRACKLES AND STOP WORKING AS WELL AS THE BLUE TOOTH THAT ONLY WORKS MAYBE 1/8 OF THE TIME. THEY FOUND "NO PROBLEMS" (ON MY FIRST OF 5 TRIPS TO THE DEALER WITHIN 7 MONTHS BACK UP CAMERA STOPPED WORKING. (REPLACED) STEERING WHEEL STUCK UP IN THE HIGH POSITION DRIVER SEAT CUSHION BUCKLED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, (REPLACED IN FEB 2011) FUEL GAUGE/WARNING LIGHT FAILED WHICH CAUSED ME TO RUN OUT OF GAS. (NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE MILES TO GO STATES I HAD 56 MILES) PART IS ON ORDER FOR RADIO OR RADIO REPLACED NOT SURE AS OF 9/27/11. HOPING ALL THIS WILL ALSO FIX THE BLUE TOOTH AS THE DEALER STATES THIS IS NO PROBLEM. DASH LIGHT GO OUT. SO AFTER ONLY 7 MONTHS OF OWNING THIS CAR, THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER AT LEAST 5 TIMES (WITH PROBLEMS), THE MOST RECENT, 9/26/11 I TOOK CAR IN AND TOLD THEM TO KEEP IT UNTIL ALL FIXED (THEY HAVE HAD THE CARS FOR 3 DAYS SO FAR). THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS ELECTRICAL AND UNLESS THEY SEE IT THEY CAN'T FIX IT. WITH EACH OF FAILURE THIS CAR HAS I WOULD DOCUMENT WITH A PICTURE TO PROVED I WASN'T CRAZY!! SO WHATS THE DEAL WITH THE BLUE TOOTH, ITS NOT MY PHONE AS IT IS PAIRED AND CONNECTED. THE ONLY WAY IT WILL WORK IS THAT IF I UNPAIR MY PHONE WHILE IN THE CAR BEFORE STARTING, START THE CAR, PAIR THE PHONE, CONNECT THE PHONE, WAIT 5 MIN AND I MIGHT GET LUCKY THAN IT WILL WORK. I CAN DIAL THRU THE CAR, SHOWS WHO I DIALING, MY PHONE SAY BLUE TOOTH ON, BUT WILL NOT WORK, DISPLAY PAD, WILL SHOW REPEATED THAT THE CALL HAS ENDED, AND FLASH BACK AND FORTH TO DIAL PAD AND MESSAGE CALL HAS ENDED,WHILE I HAD TO SWITCH FROM BLUE TOOTH TO SPEAKER AND TALK DIRECTLY TO HAND HELD PHONE. WHEN A CALL COMES MY PHONE RINGS, THE SPEAKER IN THE CAR RINGS, BUT THE BLUETOOTH IS UNABLE TO P/U THE CAR. SO FRUSTATING! *TT

TRAVELING TO INDIANA FROM NORTH CAROLINA ON THE 6TH OF MAY 2011. ON A RURAL ROAD TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE LIGHT AND ESC WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. AFTER THAT WHEN I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR, THERE WAS NO POWER. ELECTRICITY WAS STILL THERE AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON, BUT NO POWER FROM THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD TO TURN THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON AND MOVED ONTO THE SIDE. I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE THERE WEREN'T MANY CARS AROUND. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PRETTY DANGEROUS IF THERE WERE CARS AROUND AND MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON BUT I HAD REGAIN THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I PULLED INTO A HOTEL AND CALLED HYUNDAI. THE CLOSEST DEALER WAS GADDIS HYUNDAI OF MUNCIE, INDIANA. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSING BUT I DISCUSSED WITH TECHNICIAN. HE INDICATED THAT IT WAS COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE SENSOR. HE INDICATED THAT HE WOULD BE ABLE TO FIX IT MONDAY, BUT THAT IF THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND IT WAS RUNNING OK, IT MAY NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. I TOLD HIM THAT I NEED TO BE DURHAM , NC ON MONDAY. HE INDICATED THAT IF IT HAPPEN AGAIN. TO TURN OFF AND RESTART AND IT SHOULD RESET. ON MY WAY BACK FROM INDIANA TO NORTH CAROLINA I STAYED IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. EACH TIME I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND THEN RESTART AND CONTINUE. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE STEVENSON HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN JACKSONVILLE, NC. HERE IS A FORUM WEB SITE THAT REFLECTS SIMILAR PROBLEM IDENTIFIED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS RELATED TO THE HYUNDAI GENESIS V6 AND V8. Nov 7, 2014

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2009-2011 Hyundai Genesis vehicles manufactured April 30, 2008, to November 21, 2010, and 2011 Hyundai Equus vehicles manufactured July 31, 2010, to November 21, 2010. Due to a circuit failure, the stop lamps in the affected vehicles may not illuminate.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A following vehicle may not recognize that the vehicle is slowing or coming to a stop if the stop lamps on the vehicle do not illuminate as expected. There is an increased risk of a rear-end crash as a result.

Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will repair the stop lamp switch circuit, free of charge. Hyundai issued an interim notification to owners on January 6, 2015. The recall began on March 23, 2015. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 125.

Oct 29, 2013

Hyundai is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Genesis vehicles manufactured April 30, 2008, through March 28, 2012. The vehicles may contain brake fluid which does not protect against corrosion of the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU).

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the module corrodes, reduced brake effectiveness may result, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners and instruct them to bring their vehicle to a dealer for service. Hyundai will inspect the HECU module for proper operation, and will replace the modules as necessary. Hyundai will replace the factory brake fluid in those vehicles that have not previously had the factory brake fluid replaced. These repairs will be done free of charge. The recall began on December 24, 2013. Owners may contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151 or by email at consumeraffairs@hmausa.com. Hyundai's recall number is 114.

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 Accent, model year 2007-2011 Azera, Sonata and Sante Fe,2006-2011 Tucson, 2009-2011 Elantra Touring, 2007-2010 Elantra, 2008-2011 Veracruz, 2009-2011 Genesis, 2010-2011 Genesis Coupe, 2007-2008 Entourage, and 2006-2008 Tiburon vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Hyundai recalled 1,059,824 model year 2007-2009 Accent and Tucson, model year 2007-2010 Elantra, model year 2007-2011 Santa Fe, model year 2008-2009 Veracruz, model year 2010-2011 Genesis Coupe, and model year 2011 Sonata vehicles. In September 2013, Hyundai informed the agency that it was adding more vehicles to this campaign, representing an additional 652,512 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 1,712,336. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of Park without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. The safety recall began on April 22, 2013. Owners may contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's recall campaign number is 110.

On October 28, 2013, Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) submitted a Defect Information Report (DIR) to NHTSA describing a safety defect in the braking system of approximately 43,500 model year (MY) 2009 through 2012 Hyundai Genesis sedans (NHTSA Recall No. 13V-489).The Hyundai report indicates that the recalled vehicles may contain brake fluid that does not sufficiently inhibit corrosion on the zinc plating of control valve armatures in the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) module. The DIR indicated that, over time, the build-up of corrosion products may affect operation of HECU control valves, resulting in a low/soft brake pedal with reduced brake effectiveness, which may increase the risk of a crash. In October 2011, the HECU supplier notified Hyundai that the brake fluid used in production plants was causing corrosion of valve armatures in the control module. The supplier changed the coating of the valve armatures in late March 2012 to correct the problem in production vehicles.Hyundai's recall includes Genesis vehicles produced prior to the implementation of the HECU change. In March 2013, Hyundai initiated a Service Campaign (TL6) to replace brake fluid in the subject vehicles with brake fluid with better corrosion resistance properties.According to Hyundai's DIR letter, after PE13-033 was opened, the company noted that some of the vehicles serviced in the TL6 campaign subsequently required HECU replacement. This was an indication that internal corrosion had progressed enough to affect valve operation and brake performance, prompting Hyundai to conduct a safety recall.Hyundai's repair procedures for 13V-489 require brake system flushing and replacement in all recalled vehicles with a new fluid containing the necessary corrosion inhibitor. In addition, for vehicles produced prior to June 1, 2010, dealers will perform an inspection procedure to verify that the HECU is functioning properly and replace units that do not meet the test requirements.Hyundai indicated that, based on analysis of claim data, only vehicles produced prior to June 1, 2010 have been in service long enough to require the additional inspection/replacement of the HECU. Analysis of failure data reported to NHTSA and provided by Hyundai in response to ODI's information request letter for PE13-033 identified 756 complaints and 1,683 warranty claims for 30,114 subject vehicles produced prior to June 1, 2010, resulting in a complaint rate of 25.1 incidents per thousand vehicles (IPTV) and a claim rate of 5.6 percent. The MY 2009 vehicles, with the longest exposure times, experienced the highest complaint (33.5 IPTV) and warranty (7.0 percent) rates. For the 45,639 subject vehicles produced after June 1, 2010, ODI identified 13 complaints and 34 warranty claims, resulting in a complaint rate of 0.3 IPTV and a warranty claim rate of 0.1 percent, indicating that the brake fluid corrosion concern had not progressed far enough to result in significant rates of brake system performance symptoms in those vehicles. This investigation is closed.ODI will continue to monitor complaints to evaluate the effectiveness of Hyundai's recall. The VOQs noted in the Failure Report are: 10569231, 10560898, 10560495, 10559360, 10558279, 10558264, 10556964, 10556631, 10556577, 10556322, 10554988, 10554802, 10554122, 10552958, 10551817, 10551157, 10551110, 10551092, 10550791, 10550773, 10550431, 10549750, 10549634, 10549629, 10549567, 10549402, 10549376, 10549270, 10549228, 10549186, 10549021, 10548903, 10548823, 10548791, 10548737, 10548722, 10548716, 10548705, 10546565, 10544803, 10543663, 10542962, 10541959, 10541741, 10538208, 10537934, 10536652, 105354
