WHILE DRIVING ON A HOT DAY I NOTICED AN ODOR OF SMOLDERING WIRE COMING THRU THE BLOWER VENTS. I PULLED OVER ON THE HIGHWAY AND CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD. I NOTICED THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS HOT AND MELTING.FORTUNATELY THERE WAS ONLY SMOKE AND NO FIRE. I TURNED OFF THE A/C BLOWER (WHICH WAS NOW NOT WORKING) AND TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL A/C REPAIR STATION FOR AN ESTIMATE. THE VEHICLE WAS PAST WARRANTY SO THE REPAIR STATION REPLACED THE MELTED BLOWER MOTOR, RESISTOR AND HARNESS USING GENUINE GM PARTS. THIS IS THE FIRST INCIDENT AND PERTAINS TO GM RECALL #15042, NTHSA CAMPAIGN ID 15V421. ON AUGUST 13, 2015 THE BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP THAT REPLACED THE FIRST MOTOR AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT A RECALL FOR THIS HAD BEEN ISSUED. I PHONED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NO PARTS FOR THIS RECALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY BECAME AVAILABLE. I CALLED GM DIRECT AND WAS ON HOLD FOR 90 MINUTES BEFORE GIVING UP. I AUTHORIZED THE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO REPLACE THE MELTED RESISTOR WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS AND HAVE THE DEFECTIVE RESISTOR IN MY POSSESSION. I HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM GM. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THESE INCIDENTS ON RECORD WITH THE NTHSA.
