THE SPEAKERS THEN BEGAN POPPING AND THE RADIO AND DASH WOULD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. FIXING THAT HAS BEEN ATTEMPTED 5 TIMES AND THE RADIO STILL CONTINUES TO HAVE PROBLEMS. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED FALSE CRASH SENSING AND ONCE, THE AUTO BRAKING SYSTEM MADE ME COME TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP WHILE GOING ABOUT 45MPH AND NO ONE WAS EVEN AROUND ME. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A PROBLEM AND IS NOW BECOMING A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS MY WIFE WHO REGULARLY DRIVES IT IS NOW PREGNANT. SHE IS SCARED TO DRIVE IT AND HONDA IS UNWILLING TO HELP SOLVE THE ISSUES.
I HAVE HAD TWO TIRES BLOW OUT ON MY 2020 PILOT. ONE AT 10,000 MILES AND ONE AT 18,000 MILES .I WAS ON A MAIN STREET BOTH TIMES AND DID NOT RUN OVER ANYTHING THEY JUST BLEW UP .THEY ARE BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/P SPORT AS 245/60R18 M+S

I'M WRITING TO INFORM YOU OF A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE THAT OCCURRED WITH OUR 2020 HONDA PILOT TOURING EDITION. MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND IN FACT LOST POWER. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING AND WE WERE FORTUNATE TO HAVE AN EXIT RAMP CLOSE AND WE COASTED OFF ON THE EXIT RAMP LIMITED TO 5 MPH. ALL ELECTRONICS WERE ON (RADIO AND DVD), BUT THE CAR FORCED US TO A STOP. WE CALLED THE HONDA SERVICE LINE BECAUSE THIS CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY INFORMED US NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR AT THIS TIME WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON. WE SAT IN THE CAR WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AND PULLED OVER FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES. THEY RECOMMENDED TURNING THE CAR OFF FOR 10 MINUTES, LIKE MANUAL SAID, AND THEN RESTART THE CAR TO SEE IF WE CAN DRIVE TO SAFETY. WE DID THIS AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF AND WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE TO A SAFE LOCATION. 100+ MILES AWAY FROM OUR HOME, WE TOOK IT TO A HONDA DEALER. THEY DID AN INSPECTION OF THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO READ THE SYSTEM TO FIND OUT WHY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THEY WROTE UP A DETAILED REPORT AND SAID THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ON LONG ENOUGH TO GET A READ/REPORT, BUT EVERYTHING ELSE LOOKED OK. THEY DID WRITE IN THEIR REPORT THAT THERE IS A KNOWN BULLETIN FOR A FUEL INJECTION PROBLEM. THEY SAID THEY RECOMMENDED IT, BUT THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD NEED TO BE ON LONGER TO JUSTIFY RECALL. AND LASTLY, I WANT YOU TO BE AWARE THAT THIS CAR, SINCE PURCHASING NEW, HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP OR NOT CORRECTLY WORKING FOR 4+ MONTH OF THE YEAR WE HAVE OWNED IT. THE DVD PLAYER, INFORMATION ELECTRONIC SCREEN SYSTEM BROKE AND NEEDED REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, WE HAD LOUD CRACKING AND POPPING NOISE AND IT REQUIRED A CABLE WITH PROPER SHIELDING TO BE REPLACED.
PILOT WAS PARKED AND WHEN I WENT TO GET IN IT TO LEAVE, I NOTICED THE REAR WINDOW LOOKED WEIRD. WALKED AROUND BACK AND THE BACK GLASS HAD JUST EXPLODED. GLASS WAS BULGING WITH A LARGE MISSING PIECE. PILOT WAS PARKED AND WHEN I WENT TO GET IN IT TO LEAVE, I NOTICED THE REAR WINDOW LOOKED WEIRD. WALKED AROUND BACK AND THE BACK GLASS HAD JUST EXPLODED. GLASS WAS BULGING WITH A LARGE MISSING PIECE. IT WAS CRACKED ALL THE WAY THRU AND ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS A BIG PIECE MISSING WHERE A REAR DEFROSTER MODULE WOULD BE LOCATED. THE GLASS WAS STILL CREAKING WHEN I REALIZED THIS HAPPENED. IT WAS NOT CAUSED BY SOMETHING HITTING IT AS THERE WAS NOT GLASS IN THE INSIDE. I THINK IT WAS CAUSED BY THE REAR DEFROST WHICH WAS NOT ON AT THE TIME. GLAD IT DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN I WAS DRIVING. JUST HAPPENED, BUT IF I KNOW HONDA, THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. "NOT OUR FAULT".
THE INFOTAINMENT UNIT IS CONSISTENTLY SHUTTING DOWN. THIS INCLUDES THE NAVIGATION, TV, RADIO AND BACKUP CAMERA. THIS HAPPENS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
SPEAKERS MAKE CRACKLING NOISE WHILE PLAYING DVD/BLURAY. GETS LOUDER AND MORE FREQUENT UNTIL ALL AUDIO EVENTUALLY STOPS.

4PE25008 · Engine Failure
Opened Aug 20, 2025 · No close date supplied
Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Engine
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 414 reports of connecting rod bearing failures in the 3.5L V6 engine used in the following vehicles: Model Years (MY) 2018-2020 Acura TLX, MY2016-2020 Acura MDX, MY2016-2020 Honda Pilot, MY2018-2020 Honda Odyssey, and MY2017-2019 Honda Ridgeline. The subject engine failures were analyzed as part of a Recall Query (RQ24013). It was determined that these engine failures are outside the scope of Honda Recall 23V-751. Further, evidence gathered in conjunction with RQ24013 does not suggest this failure is caused by the same crankshaft manufacturing defect that is addressed by Honda in Recall 23V-751. Based on analysis of data from RQ24013, NHTSA has closed that investigation. The significant number of reports of engine failure in vehicles outside the scope of RQ24013 presents a potential safety risk that warrants further investigation. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) to further evaluate the scope and severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related issues. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.

Opened Nov 8, 2024 · Closed Aug 20, 2025
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Engine
On November 8, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Recall Query RQ24013 to assess the scope of Honda recall 23V-751 after receiving complaints that alleged connecting rod bearing failures in vehicles that were not within the scope of recall 23V-751. In November 2023, Honda recalled 248,999 various Model Year (MY)2016–2020 Honda and Acura vehicles equipped with the 3.5L V6 engine. Honda recalled these vehicles due to a crankshaft manufacturing defect that caused premature connecting rod bearing wear and engine seizure. While the out-of-scope failures involved in these complaints appear to have a very similar failure mechanism as the recalled engines, a thorough analysis of all available data from Honda has not indicated that the same manufacturing defect exists in the out-of-scope engines as the engines recalled by 23V-751. Based on this analysis ODI has determined that Honda has properly defined the scope of recall 23V-751. Consequently, ODI will close this RQ investigation. NHTSA will continue to investigate these complaints of engine failure as part of a new Preliminary Evaluation Investigation (PE25008). The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by new circumstances.
