I have issues with my 2019 honda pilot front windshield camera. when the front-facing camera malfunctions, it simultaneously shuts down multiple Honda Sensing driver-assistance systems. The front sensor camera mounted behind the windshield fails or glitches, causing simultaneous failures in adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. The failure triggers a cascade of multiple warning messages (such as "adaptive cruise control problem" or "road departure mitigation system problem") i want Honda to repair it under recall.

This vehicle is equipped with Honda's Auto Idle Stop (AIS) system, which shuts the engine off automatically when the vehicle comes to a stop and is designed to restart it when the brake pedal is released. On XXX, while stopped at a light at approximatly [XXX], the engine shut off as normal, but failed to restart when I released the brake. The vehicle was inoperable for approximately one to two minutes while stopped in a busy traffic muilti-lane road at a light over an expressway, creating a serious risk of being struck from behind by other traffic. This is not an isolated occurrence, I experience this AIS no-restart failure on a regular/recurring basis, not just this one time. I am aware that Honda has issued service bulletins related to this issue (TSB 23-008, TSB 23-009) and that this defect is the subject of a certified class action settlement (In re Honda Idle Stop Litigation, No XXX). I believe this represents an ongoing safety defect that creates a real risk of a collision, particularly in higher-speed or higher-traffic conditions where a temporarily immobile vehicle is a hazard to itself and surrounding traffic. This vehicle has a rebuilt/salvage title (repaired and retitled prior to my purchase; it passed state inspection and is legally registered and roadworthy). When I contacted Honda about repair under the applicable service bulletins (TSB 23-008 / TSB 23-009) for this defect, I was told the rebuilt title status disqualifies this vehicle from that repair coverage. I am not seeking a warranty or cost remedy through this complaint, I am reporting this because it means an unknown number of vehicles with this safety defect are currently excluded from any manufacturer-provided fix, leaving the underlying no-restart hazard unaddressed on the road. The vehicle experienced a check engine light with code P0430 and a failed Air/Fuel ratio test due to defective fuel injectors leaking raw fuel into the exhaust bank. This failure completely mirrors the factory defect in Honda Service Bulletin A21-010 (NHTSA ID: 10187008), which extends the fuel injector warranty to 10 years/150,000 miles. A certified Honda dealer verified the exact codes and components but explicitly denied the mandatory corporate warranty extension, attempting to charge $1,804.51 out-of-pocket and ignoring subsequent communication. Unburned raw fuel dumping into the catalytic converter presents a progressive engine failure and exhaust safety hazard.

This vehicle exhibits an issue with the fold down sun visors on both sides whereby the hinge mechanism is extremely tight. So much to the point that the sun visors will no longer fold up out of the drivers view. Additionally, if the vehicle was to be involved in an accident the front driver and passenger's heads would likely impact the partially lowered sun visor possibly resulting in additional injury. When brought to the attention of the service department at my local dealer, I was told there is no way to lubricate the hinge mechanism and I'd have to purchase new sun visors as it is a trim item not covered by my extended warranty. This issue started to occur around the 90,000 mile mark and has continued to get worse. The vehicle currently has approximately 120,000 miles now.

MY 2019 HONDA PILOT EX-L WAS STOLEN FROM OUR DRIVEWAY IN JERSEY CITY, NJ ON OR ABOUT JULY 16, 2026. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED. BOTH FACTORY KEY FOBS REMAINED IN MY POSSESSION AND WERE INSIDE MY RESIDENCE AT THE TIME. NO WINDOW WAS BROKEN AND NO GLASS WAS FOUND AT THE SCENE, INDICATING THE VEHICLE WAS OPENED AND STARTED ELECTRONICALLY RATHER THAN BY FORCED ENTRY OR MECHANICAL BYPASS. WE HAVE A VIDEO RECORDING OF THE INCIDENT CAPTUREd BY OUR HOUSE SECURITY CAMERA. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN RECOVERED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE JERSEY CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT [26-140624]. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH HONDA SMART ENTRY AND PUSH-BUTTON START. SECURITY RESEARCHERS HAVE PUBLICLY DOCUMENTED A ROLLING-CODE VULNERABILITY IN HONDA REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS (CVE-2022-27254, KNOWN AS "ROLLING-PWN") REPORTED TO AFFECT HONDA VEHICLES FROM MODEL YEARS 2012 THROUGH 2022, WHICH INCLUDES THIS VEHICLE. HONDA HAS PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT REMOTE KEYLESS COMMANDS CAN BE MIMICKED, BUT HAS STATED IT HAS NO PLAN TO UPDATE OLDER VEHICLES. NO RECALL, SOFTWARE UPDATE, OR OWNER REMEDY HAS BEEN OFFERED FOR THIS VEHICLE. POLICE DEPARTMENTS IN NORTHERN NEW JERSEY, INCLUDING NEWARK, HAVE ISSUED PUBLIC WARNINGS IN 2026 THAT THIEVES ARE USING ELECTRONIC DEVICES TO CAPTURE OR RELAY KEY FOB SIGNALS TO STEAL LATE-MODEL HONDA VEHICLES. THE PATTERN DESCRIBED IN THOSE WARNINGS MATCHES THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THIS THEFT. I AM REPORTING THIS AS A POTENTIAL SAFETY AND SECURITY DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRONIC IMMOBILIZER AND KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM. A VEHICLE THAT CAN BE OPENED AND DRIVEN AWAY WITHOUT THE KEY PRESENT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF THE ANTI-THEFT IMMOBILIZER AND CREATES RISK BEYOND PROPERTY LOSS, INCLUDING THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE BY AN UNAUTHORIZED AND UNIDENTIFIED DRIVER ON PUBLIC ROADS. I REQUEST THAT NHTSA INVESTIGATE WHETHER A DEFECT INVESTIGATION IS WARRANTED FOR HONDA KEYLESS ENTRY AND IMMOBILIZER SYSTEMS IN THESE MODEL YEARS.

In the past month 4 times I had a Software, Module malfunction. All lights in in the dash are on like a Christmas Tree. Believe is related to the PGM. When to the Honda dealer in Winter Haven explained what happened and show a short video and they said that because my Vin [XXX] have no recall I have to pay $89.99 for an inspection and other charges to fix the problem. I told the service department that my battery & alternator were Ok that many Honda vehicles had the same problems and that I believe is the PGM. When this happens I can’t turn the Suv off, the brakes started acting weird, can’t open the rear door and the engine accelerates. If this is not a safety hazard I don’t know what it is. I have an appointment tomorrow with the dealer but I think that pay for a manufacturer malfunction is no way of doing business INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While operating my 2019 Honda Pilot, the vehicle experienced a sudden mechanical failure of the factory moonroof assembly. While driving, the moonroof became permanently stuck open / began violently grinding and refused to close. This mechanical failure presents an immediate safety and security hazard. Because the glass cannot be closed, it exposes the interior cabin and driver to distracting external wind turbulence, weather, and road debris while traveling at highway speeds. Furthermore, the inability to secure the vehicle leaves it vulnerable to theft and environmental damage. The vehicle currently has 88000 miles.Inspection reveals that the failure stems from fragile internal components within the track assembly and drive motor. This structural failure requires a costly, full replacement of the track frame mechanism. I request that the NHTSA track these mechanical track failures to determine if a formal safety investigation or recall is warranted for the 2019 Pilot's moonroof assembly.

I was driving around 30-35 mph when my car's dashboard lights were flickering on and it then gave me a warning that the collision mitigation system was coming on. The car started braking hard and it swerved me to the left, so much so that I was halfway into the left lane. Thankfully no other car was in that lane. Then my car automatically went into neutral and I had to stop on the side of the road. I took the car into the Honda Dealership the same day. They told me that it could possibly be a dirty multi use camera by the rear view mirror and so they claimed to have cleaned it. I'm not certain that was the issue since I had just gotten a car wash recently and it did not seem to have been dirty.

Opened Aug 20, 2025 · No close date supplied
Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Engine
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 414 reports of connecting rod bearing failures in the 3.5L V6 engine used in the following vehicles: Model Years (MY) 2018-2020 Acura TLX, MY2016-2020 Acura MDX, MY2016-2020 Honda Pilot, MY2018-2020 Honda Odyssey, and MY2017-2019 Honda Ridgeline. The subject engine failures were analyzed as part of a Recall Query (RQ24013). It was determined that these engine failures are outside the scope of Honda Recall 23V-751. Further, evidence gathered in conjunction with RQ24013 does not suggest this failure is caused by the same crankshaft manufacturing defect that is addressed by Honda in Recall 23V-751. Based on analysis of data from RQ24013, NHTSA has closed that investigation. The significant number of reports of engine failure in vehicles outside the scope of RQ24013 presents a potential safety risk that warrants further investigation. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) to further evaluate the scope and severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related issues. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.

RQ24013 · Engine Failure
Opened Nov 8, 2024 · Closed Aug 20, 2025
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Engine
On November 8, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Recall Query RQ24013 to assess the scope of Honda recall 23V-751 after receiving complaints that alleged connecting rod bearing failures in vehicles that were not within the scope of recall 23V-751. In November 2023, Honda recalled 248,999 various Model Year (MY)2016–2020 Honda and Acura vehicles equipped with the 3.5L V6 engine. Honda recalled these vehicles due to a crankshaft manufacturing defect that caused premature connecting rod bearing wear and engine seizure. While the out-of-scope failures involved in these complaints appear to have a very similar failure mechanism as the recalled engines, a thorough analysis of all available data from Honda has not indicated that the same manufacturing defect exists in the out-of-scope engines as the engines recalled by 23V-751. Based on this analysis ODI has determined that Honda has properly defined the scope of recall 23V-751. Consequently, ODI will close this RQ investigation. NHTSA will continue to investigate these complaints of engine failure as part of a new Preliminary Evaluation Investigation (PE25008). The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by new circumstances.
