All of my ADAS systems were disabled due to a water leak. The repair required the dealership to hire a "leak doctor" and then replace a module in the rear tailgate. My vehicle showed an alert on the dash that each of the ADAS features were disabled, auto high beams were disabled, and I could not turn the vehicle off by pushing the start/stop button once, I had to use a procedure that forced the vehicle to shut down. My interior dash lights flickered, I'm not sure if the headlights worked. As the interior dried out, the flickering occurred less frequently. I was able to drive the vehicle to a Honda dealer for repairs.

Upon start up my 2020 Honda Odyssey EX-L throws a slew of pop-up’s on the dash (collision mitigation problem, auto high beam problem, adaptive cruise control problem, lane keep assist problem, road departure mitigation problem). It's been doing this for months, but when it started, I had just gotten an oil change 2 weeks prior and knew my mechanic would've caught this if it was something major. Last week I took it back in for another oil change and asked them to check these errors. They checked the battery and it’s fine (under 2 years old), but they confirmed it's the adaptive cruise control camera. They said not many places work on those cameras and I'll have to have the dealer do the repair. Well upon searching, it seems pretty consistent that this repair is costing owners $1700 because the camera has to be recalibrated with the software after it's replaced. I'm also seeing this problem appears to be widespread for Honda owners. Honda needs to do something to make this right for their customers. A $1700 repair for a camera that randomly dies by no fault of the owner is insane, and considering how many driver assistance systems to improve safety are affected, Honda should be held accountable. Had my Honda mechanic check problem and Camera Monocular, forward facing camera causing issues and requires replacement. This is only a 5 year old vehicle with 60,000 miles on it! Honda and many used auto parts want upwards of $850 for camera and then as much as $1500 to replace. This is a serious safety issue. None of this vehicles Safety assist items work without this camera.

In December, out of the blue suddenly had rotating list of warning on dash panel (Lane Keeping Assist problem, Collision mitigation system, departure mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem, Adaptive cruise control problem) plus Brake Warning system light is on constantly and brake hold not working. At first this was intermittent but now on constantly when starting and driving car. Only 55k miles on my Odyssey. Dealer said he had 3 of these in the last three months. Said it was Multi Purpose front camera failure. Cost over $1500. Since huge safety issue putting not only my family but other cars/people at risk, we are paying to repair, however we just found hundreds of people complaining about this same issue. This should be a Honda Recall. We did nothing wrong to cause this safety issue and this part should NOT fail in 5 years. I don't have the final invoice yet but I can upload later if required

The tailgate control module has been water damaged and needed to be replaced twice. My local Honda dealership was unable to correct the issue and stated that it is due to a water leak in the frame of the vehicle/tailgate. The dealership has identified the tailgate control module as the cause of the electrical issues causing the battery to die, and advanced safety features to malfunction. Warning lights came on for break system problem, lane departure mitigation system problem, and many other systems all caused by the tailgate control module being water damaged from a leak in the frame.

This seems to be a common issue across many Honda vehicles and most users report being told the issue is being caused by overheating. Since users are being told this is a cause and effect issue, the manufacturer should address this at their expense. I first noticed this issue in mid September 2025.

4PE25018 · Inadvertent Deployment Of Side Air Bags
Opened Oct 28, 2025 · Closed Jun 25, 2026
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Air Bags; Air Bags:sensor:side Impact; Air Bags:side/window
On October 28, 2025, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened PE25018 to investigate complaints of inadvertent deployment of the side curtain and/or side thorax air bags. These complaints concern model year (MY) 2018-2022 Honda Odyssey vehicles manufactured by American Honda Motor Co. (Honda). Honda issued recall 26V227 on April 9, 2026, to address concerns of inadvertent side air bag deployment. In the recall filing, the company stated that “[a]s of April 2, 2026, Honda has had 130 warranty claims, 25 reports of an injury, and no reports of death related to this issue from January 24, 2017 – April 2, 2026.” Honda states that the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) contains incorrect deployment parameters for the side thorax and side curtain air bags, which may cause inadvertent deployment when the vehicle encounters strong road impacts, such as driving over potholes, speed bumps, or road debris. Honda stated that the SRS control logic for the second and third rows of seating contained an insufficient deployment threshold margin, allowing signal inputs to be misinterpreted as side impacts and causing inadvertent deployment of the side thorax and side curtain air bags. Recall 26V227 states that dealers will reprogram or replace the SRS ECU with improved air bag deployment parameters. Consumers received notice of this recall in late May 2026. In view of the recall being conducted by Honda, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation (PE). The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. To review the ODI reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.

PE25008 · Engine Failure
Opened Aug 20, 2025 · No close date supplied
Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Engine
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 414 reports of connecting rod bearing failures in the 3.5L V6 engine used in the following vehicles: Model Years (MY) 2018-2020 Acura TLX, MY2016-2020 Acura MDX, MY2016-2020 Honda Pilot, MY2018-2020 Honda Odyssey, and MY2017-2019 Honda Ridgeline. The subject engine failures were analyzed as part of a Recall Query (RQ24013). It was determined that these engine failures are outside the scope of Honda Recall 23V-751. Further, evidence gathered in conjunction with RQ24013 does not suggest this failure is caused by the same crankshaft manufacturing defect that is addressed by Honda in Recall 23V-751. Based on analysis of data from RQ24013, NHTSA has closed that investigation. The significant number of reports of engine failure in vehicles outside the scope of RQ24013 presents a potential safety risk that warrants further investigation. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) to further evaluate the scope and severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related issues. RQ24013 · Engine Failure
Opened Nov 8, 2024 · Closed Aug 20, 2025
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Engine
On November 8, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Recall Query RQ24013 to assess the scope of Honda recall 23V-751 after receiving complaints that alleged connecting rod bearing failures in vehicles that were not within the scope of recall 23V-751. In November 2023, Honda recalled 248,999 various Model Year (MY)2016–2020 Honda and Acura vehicles equipped with the 3.5L V6 engine. Honda recalled these vehicles due to a crankshaft manufacturing defect that caused premature connecting rod bearing wear and engine seizure. While the out-of-scope failures involved in these complaints appear to have a very similar failure mechanism as the recalled engines, a thorough analysis of all available data from Honda has not indicated that the same manufacturing defect exists in the out-of-scope engines as the engines recalled by 23V-751. Based on this analysis ODI has determined that Honda has properly defined the scope of recall 23V-751. Consequently, ODI will close this RQ investigation. NHTSA will continue to investigate these complaints of engine failure as part of a new Preliminary Evaluation Investigation (PE25008). The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by new circumstances.
