1. Component failed: The low-pressure fuel pump failed. The vehicle is currently sitting at my residence and is available for inspection upon request.2. Safety risk: The vehicle stalled completely while driving, causing an immediate loss of propulsion on a public road, creating a severe collision risk.3. Confirmation: The problem has been pulled and confirmed by an independent service center (AutoZone diagnostic scan tool), which pulled a code to replace the fuel pump.4. Inspection: The component has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives, as the manufacturer is currently refusing to authorize an inspection due to a salvage title.5. Warning lamps/Symptoms: Immediately prior to the stall, a complete cascade of warning lights appeared on the dashboard simultaneously, and the vehicle sputtered aggressively upon attempting to crank and restart.Assessment: This is the identical, textbook physical failure condition of NHTSA Campaign 23V-858 regarding defective factory-installed Denso fuel pumps in 2018 Honda Odysseys. American Honda Corporate is using an automated salvage title database filter as a pretext to deny mandatory federal safety recall remedies on a vehicle with zero structural fuel system damage.

This vehicle is actively immobilized on private residential property with its central ADAS safety networks and Advanced Driver-Assist networks completely crashed and offline (DTC U3000-49) and active short-to-ground circuit failures (DTC B2035) rendering the passenger sliding doors completely inoperable, creating an immediate entrapment and safety hazard. These progressive component failures cascade directly from severe environmental moisture intrusion inside the rear tailgate enclosure. This exact water migration vector intersects directly with active federal safety campaign NHTSA Recall 26-V-423 (Rearview Camera Failure), which isolates moisture intrusion into the panel housing as the root factory manufacturing defect. A manufacturer franchise location documented active water leakage onto the Power Tailgate Control Unit and heavy corrosion on the wiring connector under a previous Repair Order but performed zero interim moisture sealing, corrosion cleanup, or terminal mitigation, allowing progressive water migration to completely destroy the wiring system harness. Furthermore, American Honda Corporate Case Management explicitly stated on a recorded verbal line that the manufacturer is denying all repair assistance to remedy these cascading safety campaign electrical defects under an active corporate case. The manufacturer is in open default of its statutory federal obligation to remedy a safety recall defect free of charge to the consumer.

COMPONENT THAT FAILED & AVAILABILITY: The vehicle's primary electrical architecture and data communications network (CAN bus) failed during a safety recall service for the SRS ECU and rearview camera. After attempting to complete the recall work, the vehicle is no longer able to start. SAFETY RISK: The manufacturer's federally mandated safety recall remedy compromised the vehicle's critical safety and control infrastructure. This rendered a previously reliable family vehicle entirely inoperable, destroying its ability to communicate, start, or turn on. It poses a systemic safety risk if the corporate recall procedure itself causes severe electronic failures in consumer vehicles. REPRODUCTION & DEALER CONFIRMATION: Yes. The failure was induced directly by Williams Honda ([XXX]) during service on Thursday, XXX. The dealership's Service Manager explicitly confirmed to me that their technicians compromised the electrical architecture while performing the SRS ECU and rearview camera recall work. The vehicle has remained dead at their facility ever since. INSPECTION BY OTHERS: The vehicle has been actively inspected by dealership technicians in coordination with Honda Engineering headquarters. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives, as no crash occurred. I have requested an inspection by a Honda Corporate Field Technical Specialist (FTS). WARNING LAMPS & PRIOR SYMPTOMS:NONE. Prior to this appointment, the vehicle was in perfect electrical and mechanical working order. There were absolutely no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms of any starting or electrical problems. The vehicle had just safely completed a seven-hour road trip immediately prior to being dropped off for the recall work. Early in a driving session, the accelerator pedal, when applied pressure, will not rev the engine and provide power to the wheels for 1-3 seconds. This issue happens once or twice in a driving session and then doesn't do it again until a future driving session. It is random and doesn't happen every session. This issue causes me to have concerns entering traffic, particularly left turns, as I am unsure if the vehicle will accelerate when needed to safely enter traffic. I have had Service Bulletin 19-124 completed on my vehicle and it did not fix the issue.

2018 Honda Odyssey Elite I am reporting an unresolved issue stemming from a failed recall remedy for NHTSA Safety Recall 23V-431 (Honda TSB 20-049) regarding the MOST bus fiber-optic network. My vehicle has been taken to an authorized Honda dealership twice to receive the official recall repair (replacing the FAKRA network connectors). Despite these two repair attempts, the network defect continues to escalate. The vehicle experiences sudden, violent, and near-constant loud popping and clicking noises through the audio speakers while driving. This occurs both at random and predictably when driving over bumps. Following the increase in these network pops, the vehicle's Blu-ray player completely failed and stopped working. Furthermore, the central infotainment screen frequently freezes, reboots, and displays an "Audio Connection Lost" error message, which also cuts out the FM radio tuner entirely.Crucially, this fiber-optic network failure recently caused a total loss of the digital instrument cluster and speedometer while driving. While this complete cluster blackout has only occurred one time so far, it presents an unpredictable and dangerous safety hazard, as I am left with no knowledge of my current speed or critical vehicle safety alerts while in motion. The manufacturer’s standard recall remedy of swapping plastic connector clips is ineffective for my vehicle. The recurring failures after two repairs indicate a permanently compromised factory wiring harness or a damaged network module that is continuously dropping the signal. The manufacturer needs to authorize a thorough diagnostic and full harness/module replacement to permanently resolve this safety defect before the instrument cluster fails again.

On October 28, 2025, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened PE25018 to investigate complaints of inadvertent deployment of the side curtain and/or side thorax air bags. These complaints concern model year (MY) 2018-2022 Honda Odyssey vehicles manufactured by American Honda Motor Co. (Honda). Honda issued recall 26V227 on April 9, 2026, to address concerns of inadvertent side air bag deployment. In the recall filing, the company stated that “[a]s of April 2, 2026, Honda has had 130 warranty claims, 25 reports of an injury, and no reports of death related to this issue from January 24, 2017 – April 2, 2026.” Honda states that the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) contains incorrect deployment parameters for the side thorax and side curtain air bags, which may cause inadvertent deployment when the vehicle encounters strong road impacts, such as driving over potholes, speed bumps, or road debris. Honda stated that the SRS control logic for the second and third rows of seating contained an insufficient deployment threshold margin, allowing signal inputs to be misinterpreted as side impacts and causing inadvertent deployment of the side thorax and side curtain air bags. Recall 26V227 states that dealers will reprogram or replace the SRS ECU with improved air bag deployment parameters. Consumers received notice of this recall in late May 2026. In view of the recall being conducted by Honda, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation (PE). The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. Opened Aug 20, 2025 · No close date supplied
Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Engine
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 414 reports of connecting rod bearing failures in the 3.5L V6 engine used in the following vehicles: Model Years (MY) 2018-2020 Acura TLX, MY2016-2020 Acura MDX, MY2016-2020 Honda Pilot, MY2018-2020 Honda Odyssey, and MY2017-2019 Honda Ridgeline. The subject engine failures were analyzed as part of a Recall Query (RQ24013). It was determined that these engine failures are outside the scope of Honda Recall 23V-751. Further, evidence gathered in conjunction with RQ24013 does not suggest this failure is caused by the same crankshaft manufacturing defect that is addressed by Honda in Recall 23V-751. Based on analysis of data from RQ24013, NHTSA has closed that investigation. The significant number of reports of engine failure in vehicles outside the scope of RQ24013 presents a potential safety risk that warrants further investigation. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) to further evaluate the scope and severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related issues. RQ24013 · Engine Failure
Opened Nov 8, 2024 · Closed Aug 20, 2025
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Engine
On November 8, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Recall Query RQ24013 to assess the scope of Honda recall 23V-751 after receiving complaints that alleged connecting rod bearing failures in vehicles that were not within the scope of recall 23V-751. In November 2023, Honda recalled 248,999 various Model Year (MY)2016–2020 Honda and Acura vehicles equipped with the 3.5L V6 engine. Honda recalled these vehicles due to a crankshaft manufacturing defect that caused premature connecting rod bearing wear and engine seizure. While the out-of-scope failures involved in these complaints appear to have a very similar failure mechanism as the recalled engines, a thorough analysis of all available data from Honda has not indicated that the same manufacturing defect exists in the out-of-scope engines as the engines recalled by 23V-751. Based on this analysis ODI has determined that Honda has properly defined the scope of recall 23V-751. Consequently, ODI will close this RQ investigation. NHTSA will continue to investigate these complaints of engine failure as part of a new Preliminary Evaluation Investigation (PE25008). The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by new circumstances.
