Windshield wipers and also the key fob and the sliding doors as well as the blinkers do not work all at the same time first time it’s ever happened. It was December 8, 2023 and now it happened again in January 29 of 2024 and the issue still persisted when I look this issue up this has been an ongoing issue for many years and yet Honda has done nothing about this and it’s not just the 2009 it’s other years as well as other Hondas from other years as well, it is a defect within the company where they’re doing something that causes these things to go! It is a safety issue as this just happens out of nowhere without any warning while I’m driving. All of a sudden it just happened the first time and I didn’t even realize it until I didn’t hear the clicking and someone said hey your blinkers are not working. Also, the second time it happened happened all over again while I was driving out of nowhere would not work and it was raining as well and I couldn’t see anything and my lights wouldn’t work so it’s definitely a safety issue .

I PURCHASED A 2009 HONDA ODYSSEY FROM WEST AUTO SALES LOCATED AT 6145 E. LANCASTER RD. FORT WORTH, TX 76112 ON 03/27/2021. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE FIRST TWO DAYS OF DRIVING IT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DUE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTOR NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP MANAGED TO GET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OFF WITHOUT REPLACING IT. A FEW DAYS AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK THE SERPENTINE BELT BROKE OFF. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND BROUGHT IT BACK TO THEM. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A BOLT BROKEN INSIDE THE TENSIONER AND IT WOULD TAKE FOUR DAYS IN ORDER TO GET THE TOOLS AND SUPPLIES NEEDED IN ORDER TO FIX IT. THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THE DEALER AND TOLD THAT THEY GOT THE BOLT OUT WITH NO PROBLEM AND PUT A NEW TENSIONER IN AND REPLACED THE BELT. NOT EVEN A WEEK AFTER THAT THE BELT CAME OFF AGAIN AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO FIRESTONE COMPLETE AUTO CARE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SAME BROKEN BOLT WAS STILL THERE HOLDING TOGETHER THE TENSIONER. ALL THE DEALERSHIP DID WAS PUT JB WELD ON THE BROKEN BOLT TO HOLD IT TOGETHER. I HAVE NOTIFIED THE SELLER AND GOT NO HELP. NOW MY VAN ISN'T DRIVE ABLE AND IT WILL COST ANOTHER $800 TO GET IT FIXED THE RIGHT WAY. I DID A CARFAX REPORT ON THE VEHICLE AND FOUND OUT THAT IT HAS EVEN BEEN IN A WRECK THAT WASN'T DISCLOSED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS THAT I WAS SOLD A LEMON.

RIGHT REAR SLIDING DOOR HAS OPENED WHILE CAR IS MOVING. SUSPECT IT IS THE CAUSE OF THE BATTERY BEING DRAINED TWICE IN THE LAST FEW DAYS WHEN CAR WAS NOT DRIVEN DURING 48 HOUR PERIOD. THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN ELECTRONICALLY NOW. IT HAS TO BE FORCED OPEN MANUALLY.

FRONT PASSENGER DOORS DOESN'T OPEN FROM INSIDE OF THE CAR UNLESS UNLOCK/LOCK/UNLOCK IS PRESSED FROM DRIVER SIDE. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FROM 2010. TALKED TO DEALER BUT THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. AND I DIDN'T WANT TO PAY FOR INVESTIGATION. THEY SAID IT HAS TO BE FAIL AND REMAINED FAILURE FOR THEM TO SEE AND INVESTIGATE.

FOR WINDOW OPERATION IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE VEHICLE IS MOVING OR NOT MOVING. FOR LOCK OPERATION VEHICLE IS NOT MOVING. FOR BOTH OPERATION VEHICLE ENGINE COULD BE ON. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN THERE SINCE THE DAY ONE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP WAS INFORMED BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM BECAUSE MOST OF THE TIME PROBLEM RECOVERS BY THE TIME WE REACH DEALERSHIP (30 MINUTES LATER)

TOOK THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR EMISSIONS CHECK LIGHT. DIAGNOSED AS "NOX SENSOR WIRING HARNESS CHEWED BY MOUSE" PER HONDA DEALERSHIP. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF RODENT DAMAGE OR PRESENCE ELSEWHERE IN THE VEHICLE. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP DID NOT PROVIDE ME THE PICTURES OR THE DAMAGED PART SAYING THAT IT WAS THROWN IN THE TRASH. THE WIRING WAS APPARENTLY COVERED BY HONDA RODENT DETERRENT TAPE. I HAVE CONTACTED ACURA/HONDA DEALERSHIPS, THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ALSO THE RESPECTIVE ACURA/HONDA MANUFACTURER CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY OTHER CAR (ACURA MDX 2009) WITHIN A SPAN OF ONE WEEK WITH EXACTLY SIMILAR PRESENTATION. WHEN I REQUESTED INFORMATION FROM THE ABOVE SOURCES, I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION AND IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR CUSTOMERS AND THAT IS IT IS A RARE EVENT AND NOT RELATED TO MANUFACTURING DEFECTS AND ALSO THERE WAS NO DEFINITIVE TREND IN ACURA/HONDA(SAME COMPANY) NOX SENSOR WIRING HARNESS BEING CHEWED BY RODENTS AND HAVE REFUSED TO COVER IT UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM TO WHICH I HAVE SUBSCRIBED/PURCHASED. I HAVE ANOTHER ENTRY REGARDING THE OTHER VEHICLE AT THE NHTSA.GOV WEBSITE. *TR

The investigation found that the liftgate struts were failing prematurely and at an abnormal rate in certain model year (MY) 2008 Honda Odyssey Touring and 2009 Honda Odyssey Touring and EX-L model vehicles equipped with power-operated rear liftgates (note: MY 2008 Odyssey EX-L was not equipped with a power liftgate).Unlike vehicles with non-powered (manual) liftgates, the subject vehicle's liftgate can be opened automatically (via the power liftgate motor) even when the struts are in a degraded condition and can no longer support it in the open position.Consumers standing or accessing the rear cargo area under the liftgate and expecting the liftgate will stay open, can be struck when the liftgate unexpectedly drops, or can be trapped under the liftgate as it power closes, both of which can occur when the system detects and reacts to degraded struts.By contrast, users of a manual liftgate assist in lifting it, and thus notice the lack of support as the struts degrade.Honda is conducting a recall to replace the liftgate struts in approximately 45,747 MY 2008 and early MY 2009 Odyssey vehicles equipped with power liftgates built before a manufacturing change of the liftgate strut assembly that occurred on January 13, 2009 (see NHTSA Safety Recall No. 12V-062 for further details). The vehicles subject to the recall account for 101 complaints, 12 injuries, and 5,630 of the warranty claims shown above (i.e., the MY 2009 and 2010 vehicles built after the manufacturing change experience lower failure rates). In addition, and based on consumer complaints to NHTSA, Odyssey vehicles without power liftgates experience lower complaint and injury rates than the Odyssey vehicles equipped with power liftgates (subject vehicles). The reports cited above can be reviewed online at www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the following identification (ODI) numbers:10442027, 10441232, 10437461, 10432557, 10430420, 10429962, 10412908, 10401388, 10395475, 10390216, 10343678, 10336744, 10294156
