REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LEAKS WATER EVERY TIME IT RAINS. SAFETY CONCERNS ARE MOLD GROWTH ON CARPETING, BODY RUST FROM EXPOSURE TO WATER, SEATS HAVE ALSO GOTTEN WET WHEN FOLDED DOWN INTO FOOT AREA (MORE MOLD), WINDOWS FOG UP BECAUSE OF EXTRA HUMIDITY IN THE VEHICLE (IMPAIRING VISIBILITY), AND COULD POTENTIALLY ALSO BE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FROM EXTRA HUMIDITY. HAVE ALSO FOUND WATER IN SPARE TIRE WELL IN BACK OF CAR, BUT I'M NOT SURE WHERE THIS ENTERED THE CAR. ASKED A HONDA DEALER ABOUT THIS AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE $200 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, WHICH SEEMS LIKE A COMMON ISSUE JUDGING BY THE AMOUNT OF DISCUSSIONS IN ONLINE FORUMS. *TR

I'M SORRY IF THIS COMPLAINT DOESN'T BELONG HERE BUT WHEN I FILED A COMPLAINT OVER HERE HTTP://WWW.HONDAPROBLEMS.COM/TRENDS/UNCOMFORTABLE-SEATS/ THAT SITE SUGGESTED I FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THESE POORLY DESIGNED SEATS HERE TOO. IN FACT I'VE NOTICED PLENTY OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THESE SEATS TOO ON THE INTERNET. *TR

AFTER A HEAVY RAIN, THE FLOOR MATS IN THE BACK SEATS BECOME SOAKED TO THE POINT WHERE THEY DEVELOP MOLD EVEN AFTER THE WATER IS CLEANED-UP. CHILDREN SIT IN THE BACK SEAT AND ARE EXPOSED TO UNHEALTHY CONDITIONS. THE WATER SEAMS TO BE COMING FROM THE FRONT DOOR/WINDOW AREA AND IS SEEPING INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE DOOR TO THE BACK FLOOR AREA, MOSTLY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. MY RESEARCH INDICATES THAT SEVERAL OTHER HONDA FIT OWNERS ALSO HAVE THAT PROBLEM. I MUST TAKE IT IN TO HAVE IT REPAIRED BECAUSE I BELIEVE IT IS A HEALTH HAZARD. BUT IT SEEMS TO BE A FLAW IN THE ORIGINAL STRUCTURE THAT SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY HONDA. *TR

AS I WAS DRIVING UP A HILL, ON A CURVE, AT ABOUT 40MPH, THE POWER STEERING LOCKED. I WAS SO CLOSE TO GETTING IN A MULTI-VEHICLE CAR ACCIDENT. USUALLY THIS EPS PROBLEM HAPPENS FIRST THING, RIGHT WHEN I START THE CAR IN THE MORNING EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE AND ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL, WHEN THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON. OBVIOUSLY, HONDA ACKNOWLEDGES THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE EPS, EXCEPT THIS TIME, IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR. THIS PROBLEM COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENTS, INCLUDING FATALITIES. THEY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PART INSTEAD OF JUST DOING A SERVICE BULLETIN. GM HAS A SIMILAR PROBLEM, IF NOT THE SAME, AND THEY CARE ENOUGH ABOUT THEIR CLIENTS TO DO A RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM, RATHER THEN JUST PROVIDE A SERVICE BULLETIN. HONDA SHOULD DO THE SAME FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR CLIENTS. *TR

I AM THE OWNER OF MODEL YEAR 2007 HONDA FIT. THIS YEAR, WHEN THE CAR REACHED AROUND 76,000 MILES THE CLUTCH BEGAN TO FAIL TO FULLY DISENGAGE WITH THE PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED. EVENTUALLY THE PROBLEM WAS ISOLATED TO THE MECHANICAL CLUTCH ASSEMBLY (AS OPPOSED TO THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM). AFTER DISASSEMBLY IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT ALL OF THE ?DIAPHRAGM SPRINGS? ON THE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE WERE BENT, SOME MORE SEVERELY THAN OTHERS. MY TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS SORT OF THING HAPPEN BEFORE. IN ORDER FOR THE PRESSURE PLATE DIAPHRAGM SPRINGS TO HAVE BENT, ONE OF TWO THINGS MUST HAVE OCCURRED: 1. THE DIAPHRAGM SPRINGS WERE DAMAGED DURING ASSEMBLY. IF THIS IS THE CASE, THEN THE DAMAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN APPARENT WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW, NOT SOME 76,000 MILES LATER. IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS ON THE CLUTCH (M41L 11 23/50) SHOULD PROVE THAT THIS CLUTCH WAS THE ORIGINAL AND HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED. 2. THE DIAPHRAGM SPRINGS OF THE CLUTCH LOST THEIR SPRING TENSION. THIS TO ME SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY PLAUSIBLE EXPLANATION. THIS COULD BE DUE TO DEFECTS IN THE STEEL ITSELF OR IMPROPER HEAT-TREATING. I BELIEVE THAT A SERIES OF BRINELL HARDNESS TESTS AT VARIOUS DEPTHS WOULD PROVE THAT THE CLUTCH DIAPHRAGM SPRINGS ARE TOO SOFT AND THAT THIS CONDITION THAT ULTIMATELY CAUSED THE CLUTCH TO FAIL. *TR

Dec 10, 2020

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2013-2015 Acura ILX, 2013 Acura ILX Hybrid, 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid, and 2007-2008 Honda Fit vehicles with a manual transmission and 2009-2013 Honda Fit vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The drive shafts' protective coating may not have been applied properly during manufacturing, making it more susceptible to damage from road salt, or other contaminants, and potentially cause it to break.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A broken drive shaft may cause a sudden loss of drive power. The vehicle could also roll away if the parking brake has not been applied before the vehicle has been exited. Either condition can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the drive shafts, replacing either the left or right drive shaft, if necessary, free of charge. Owners were notified of the safety risk with an interim letter mailed February 2, 2021. A second letter will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are P9M, PAV, BAY, TAX, CA0, and MAZ.

Consequence: An overheated switch can cause smoke, melting and fire.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners in July 2013 and will instruct owners to take their vehicles to dealers to have a free inspection conducted. If the switch is damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. If the switch is not damaged, the owner will be instructed to await a second notification that will instruct them to return to the dealer to have a replacement switch installed free of charge. Honda anticipates it will have sufficient parts inventory to notify owners of vehicles with undamaged switches to return to dealers for replacement switches in Fall 2013. Renotification was sent out to owners on July 23, 2014. Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009. Honda's recall number is JA6.

In their Defect Information Report (DIR) of December 15, 2010, American Honda Motor Company, Inc. (Honda) notified NHTSA that it will conduct a safety recall of model year 2007 and 2008 Honda Fit vehicles to repair the headlights. The recall will remedy a defect in the low beam headlight circuit that can cause a total outage of the low beam headlights.Honda's DIR states: Due to a variation in the assembly sequence when installing the wiring harness for the combination switch that controls the headlights, the wires for the low beam headlight circuit can be pulled tighter than the wiring for the other functions controlled by the combination switch. After repeated use of the headlight switch, the electrical connector terminal for the low beam headlight circuit can become worn as a result of this tension, which can result in low conductivity and cause an accumulation of copper oxide in the area of the contacts. In some cases the poor conductivity may cause the terminal ends to melt within the wiring harness connector. If this occurs, the low beam headlights can become inoperative, increasing the risk of a crash. Honda dealer's will inspect the combination switch and wiring harness and remedy the defect free of charge. Please see safety recall file 10V624 for recall details
