I OWN A HONDA CR-V /EX 1.5 LITER TURBO ENGINE. AUG 14 2018 NOTICED OIL LEVEL ON DIP STICK WAS ABOVE HIGHEST LEVEL INDICATOR AND OIL SMELLED OF GAS. CALLED INDEPENDENCE HONDA IN BLOOMSBURG PA AND BROUGHT VEHICLE ON AUG 21,1018 FOR APPOINTMENT TO CHECK THIS CONDITION. THEY CHANGED OIL AND TOLD ME THAT HONDA KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IS WORKING ON A FIX. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK IN 3000 MILES FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE. THE SAME CONDITION WAS FOUND ON OCT 22, 2018 WHEN I BROUGHT IT BACK AFTER 3000 MILES. I WAS TOLD HONDA WOULD HAVE A FIX SOON. DECEMBER I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA WITH PRODUCT UPDATE 2017-2018 CR-V . I CALLED INDEPENDENCE HONDA TO SCHEDULE THE UPDATE ON DEC. 26, 2018 , WHICH WAS PERFORMED. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS THE FIX FOR THIS GAS IN OIL PROBLEM. ON JAN, 23, 2019 I CHECKED THE OIL AND THE OIL LEVEL WAS 3/8" HIGHER THAN THE HIGHEST LEVEL INDICATOR ON THE DIP STICK AND THE OIL SMELLED OF GAS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO INDEPENDENCE THAT DAY FOR THEIR INSPECTION OF THE PROBLEM. AFTER THEIR INSPECTION THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION FOR THIS ENGINE. THIS WAS THE SAME PROBLEM THEY HAVE BEEN TELLING ME FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS THAT HONDA KNOWS THE PROBLEM AND THEY WILL HAVE A FIX FOR IT. THE FIX HAS NOT WORKED ON MY VEHICLE. HONDA NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND INSTALL NEW COMPONENTS TO PREVENT THIS CONDITION AND ALSO EXTEND ENGINE WARRANTIES. I CONSIDER GAS IN THE OIL A SAFETY ISSUE. IF VEHICLE STALLS OR HAS EXCELERATION ISSUES IN TRAFFIC IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND INJURY.

THE HEAT IN THE CAR DOSE NOT WORK WHEN IT IS COLD OUT. AUTO START DOES NOTHING TO WARM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE DRIVING CONTINUOUSLY TO HAVE THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE MOVE. ONCE THE GAUGE IS 1/2 WAY UP AND I TURN ON THE HEAT, THE GAUGE DROPS ALL THE WAY DOWN. NO WARM AIR COMES OUT, ALSO EFFECTING THE DEFROSTER. IF I HAVE ICE OR FOG ON MY WINDOWS THE DEFROSTER CAN'T KEEP UP SEVERELY IMPAIRING MY VISION, NOT TO MENTION THAT ALL PASSENGERS IN THE CAR ARE FREEZING THE ENTIRE TIME. THIS MORNING THE TEMPERATURE WAS 9 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT WITH A REAL FEEL OF -10 AND DURING MY 30 MINUTE DRIVE TO WORK VIA A HIGHWAY, ALL 4 DOOR WINDOWS WERE FOGGED OVER AND ICE WAS FORMING ON THEM AND THE REAR AND FRONT WINDSHIELD HAVE FOG AND ICE ON ABOUT 50% OF THEM. IF NOT FOR THE SEAT WARMER AND THE BLANKET I WRAPPED MYSELF IN FOR MY CUMMUTE I WOULD HAVE BEEN FROZEN. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME WINTER HAS HAPPENED NOR THE FIRST CAR THAT HONDA HAS CREATED. NO REASON FOR THE HEAT NOT TO WORK.

I FINALLY GOT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND WORRYING THAT I MIGHT HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED, I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND HAD INTENTIONS OF PARKING IT IN THE STREET. WHEN PULLING INTO A DRIVEWAY AT A FRIENDS HOUSE, I COULD NOT SHIFT THE CAR INTO PARK. I FINALLY GOT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND WORRYING THAT I MIGHT HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED, I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND HAD INTENTIONS OF PARKING IT IN THE STREET. WHEN I GOT IT INTO REVERSE, THE SHIFT BUTTON BROKE OFF AND SPRING FELL ON THE GROUND. ENDED UP GETTING IT TO THE HONDA DEALER ON 01/07/2019 WHO APPARENTLY HAS SEEN A LOT OF THESE. CAR HAD AROUND 13,500 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.
GAS IS MIXING IN THE OIL OF OUR NEW 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE 1.5 LITER ENGINE DOES NOT WARM UP SUFFICIENTLY IN COLD WEATHER, RUNS RICH, AND LEAVES UN-COMBUSTED GAS IN THE OIL. BEGAN LOSING POWER.

On February 21, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation (PE22003) to assess reports of inadvertent activation of the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), an automatic emergency braking (AEB) system, in model year 2017-2019 Honda CR-V and 2018-2019 Honda Accord vehicles. The reports allege that activation of the AEB system occurs while driving with no apparent obstruction in the vehicle's forward path, resulting in sudden vehicle deceleration. Honda indicated that they were aware of a total of X,XXX reports that may relate to the alleged defect. Honda provided analysis of the alleged defect and alleges that some customers possibly had an inadequate understanding of the CMBS and its limitations. However, many consumer complaints allege that Honda dealerships were unable to reproduce the condition or state that they were informed that this is considered normal CMBS operation. To date, ODI has received a total of 1,294 consumer complaints of inadvertent activation of CMBS in 2017-2022 Honda CR-V and 2018-2022 Honda Accord vehicles. A total of 31 complaints alleged a crash and 50 alleged an injury. The Total column in the Failure Report Summary removes duplicate reports and shows the total number of reports with unique VINs from all Manufacturer, ODI, and EWR data sources. In some cases, there were multiple reports associated with a particular vehicle in which recurring failures were alleged. In total, there were X,XXX reports, 93 injury incidents and 47 crashes involving vehicles with unique VINs that may relate to the alleged defect. PE22-003 has been upgraded to an Engineering Analysis to further assess the scope, frequency, and potential safety related consequences of the inadvertent AEB activations. The scope has been expanded to include assessment of model year 2020-2022 Honda CR-V and Accord vehicles. Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking
To date, ODI has received a total of 1,081 consumer complaints of inadvertent activation of CMBS in the subject vehicles. A total of 24 complaints alleged a crash and 42 alleged an injury. The Total column in the Failure Report Summary removes duplicate reports and shows the total number of reports with unique VINs from all Manufacturer, ODI, and EWR data sources. In some cases, there were multiple reports associated with a particular vehicle in which recurring failures were alleged. In total, there were X,XXX reports, 84 injury incidents and 40 crashes involving vehicles with unique VINs that may relate to the alleged defect.
