The contact owns a 2024 Honda Civic SI. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH with the cruise control activated, a semi-truck abruptly entered the lane the vehicle was driving in, and the brake pedal became firm. The contact stated that the cruise control failed to disengage while depressing the brake pedal. Due to the firmness of the brake pedal, the contact was forced to abruptly switch lanes. The contact stated that the vehicle almost crashed into a second semi-truck after switching lanes. The contact stated a patch of the road opened, and the contact avoided crashing into the second semi-truck. The braking functionality eventually returned after the initial failure, and the contact resumed normal driving. The contact and his wife suffered from severe mental trauma from the near crashes. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
