The contact owns a 2025 Honda ADV160. The contact stated that while riding approximately 20-25 MPH, the engine made an abnormal whining sound and the motorcycle stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road, and the motorcycle was towed to the residence. The motorcycle was later towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that a cylinder was damaged and the cylinder seal was fractured. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The motorcycle was repaired out-of-pocket. The failure mileage was approximately 2,739.

The contact owns a 2025 Honda ADV160 Scooter. The contact stated that while riding at 30 MPH, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the motorcycle. The scooter was pulled over to the shoulder of the road. The contact stated that while inspecting the scooter, there was oil leaking down the side of the scooter onto the ground. The scooter was taken to the dealer and repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V195000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the failure reoccurred. The contact was advised to take the scooter back for an inspection. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was advised to take the scooter back to the dealer for assistance. The contact stated that the scooter was unsafe to ride because the drivetrain might fail while riding. The failure mileage was approximately 20.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2024-2025 ADV160 scooters. The oil pump driven gear may fail, resulting in a loss of drive power.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the oil pump driven gear, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed August 6, 2025. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is KR9.
