On XXX, I was towing my 2024 Grand Design Imagine AIM travel trailer, VIN [XXX], on the freeway at highway speed behind a 2025 Ram 1500 Crew Cab using a hitch equipped with sway control bars. After the trailer crossed a bump in the road surface, it began swaying side to side and the oscillation grew uncontrollably within seconds despite the sway control. The trailer rolled over and was destroyed. It is a total loss. [Add: injuries, if any / no injuries.] This was not an isolated event. From the time of purchase the trailer exhibited poor towing behavior, including a tendency to sway and wander that was noticeably worse than other trailers I have towed with the same truck. I believe there may be a defect in the trailer's axle alignment, suspension, or weight distribution as built that made it unstable at highway speed. The tow vehicle is rated well above this trailer's gross weight, and the sway control equipment was in use, so I do not believe tow vehicle capacity or the absence of sway control explains the loss of control. I am aware NHTSA recall 23V-151 addressed incorrect tire size and inflation pressure information on the Federal Certification Label of 2023 Imagine AIM units built Nov 2022 to Feb 2023, with a stated risk of tire failure and loss of control. My unit is a 2024 and is outside that VIN range, but I am concerned a related tire, label, or chassis issue may exist on later units. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the Imagine AIM single-axle platform has a stability, alignment, or tire defect that contributes to sway and rollover. I am attempting to preserve the trailer for inspection and can provide photos of the axle, spring hangers, hitch, and tires, along with purchase and service records, on request. --- Two notes. If a dealer ever documented a towing complaint or inspected the axle, add a se INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
