The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V229000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the two local dealers had shut down, and the other authorized dealers were extremely far away. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, and a case was filed. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The dealer determined that cylinders #1 and #3 were misfiring. The dealer replaced the #2 fuel injector. The contact stated that upon picking up the vehicle from the dealer, the check engine warning light was no longer illuminated; however, there was a strong gasoline odor inside the vehicle, and the odor persisted while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was test-driven, and the contact was informed that the odor was no longer present. The contact stated that upon picking up the vehicle, the failure persisted. The dealer was contacted but no assistance was provided. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing hesitation while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Upon inspection, the contact discovered fuel leaking from under the engine cover. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer for repair and the contact was given a loaner vehicle of the same year make and model. Days later, the same failure occurred with the loaner vehicle. While in for service, the dealer diagnosed that the low-pressure fuel line had been chew and damaged by rodents. The low-pressure fuel line was replaced and the vehicle was retrieved. The contact stated that days later the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000.
