2023 Ford F-150 Hybrid

The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal crunching sound coming from the rear passenger’s side of the vehicle. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The contact stated that later while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer. The dealer had not diagnosed the vehicle and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 700. The vehicle was eventually started after waiting for approximately ten minutes to over one hour. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. No cause for the failure was found. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 2,000.

The dealer then replaced the trailer brake control module; however, the failure persisted. The dealer informed the contact that there was no fix for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer later advised the contact to retrieve the vehicle from the dealer because there was no fix for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

Sporadically the vehicle will not start. 200 miles on the 2023 powerboost and this has happened 3 times. Ford mechanic does not see anything wrong and cannot duplicate the issue so no fix is available.

When I pressed Start yesterday a loud ear-splitting noise emitted from the sound system. It took my shocked brain a moment to realize it wasn't a security alert. When I realized nothing I did would get it to shut off, I got out of the vehicle. It eventually stopped, and the sound system doesn't work at all now. I have an appt to get this looked at, but I've read that Ford doesn't consider this a safety issue. I can see why, but I care for my elderly mother, and if this had happened with her in the vehicle she would not have come out it unscathed. As it is, I twisted my ankle a bit scrambling out because you cannot THINK with that noise. If this had happened while driving there is no way I'd been able to safely continue, no way at all. I've also read that the sound is 'only' 109 decibels, the same as a loud sporting event. I would argue that this very loud sound is trapped inside the cab of a truck and not an open-air stadium. It's been 17 hours and my ears are still ringing and they hurt.

I purchased the truck 2 weeks ago brand new and it has a total of 570 miles on it. After not being used for one day, the truck would not start at all. I receive a warning indicating that I should stop safely now, that full power accessory mode is on and a check engine light. I connected a OBD scanner but no codes were generated. The truck should no signs of a dead battery as all electrical functioned other than starting the hybrid electric engine. I contacted a dealership who informed me that I had to have the vehicle towed to them at my expense. I tried multiple times to start the truck again with the same results. While waiting for the tow truck (40 minutes later), I tried again and the vehicle started. There appear to be many claims of this same behavior related to the Ford powerboost engine for several years which I was unaware of prior to purchase. This level of insecurity should have no place when purchasing a brand new $80K automobile as my 13 year old daughter was left stranded as a result.
