I have a 2022 Ford Expedition that Ford states some of these are under recall for the backup camera but not mine. On 10/28/25, my backup camera went out with a blank blue sometimes black screen. I took it to Marler Ford where they gave me an estimate of $1000 to replace the camera. I received an oil change on the same day. When I got home I noticed from the diagnostics that my camera was loose in its setting and was able to easily remove it. I am assuming this occurred while at the dealership and will address this with them. While I contemplated what to do, I noticed a change 1 week ago when i backed up even though the camera was removed. It showed the back up lines and no longer the blank screen. I placed the camera back in and now it is working but is still loose so I removed it so it doesn’t fall out. I called Ford. My case number is CXH-XXX. In summary, Ford is still not owning up to the recalls that are a major safety issue in these vehicles and need to be held accountable. I am not confident that this issue will not return if the issue is not fixed. It has caused me stress in not allowing me to be as confident in reverse. It has not resulted in a accident at this time. Recently, the rear evaporator core failed, causing a refrigerant leak that disabled the entire A/C system. This left both the front and rear HVAC units inoperable, which not only compromises passenger comfort but also directly impacts safety by reducing the system’s ability to defrost and dehumidify the windshield in hot and humid conditions. After researching this issue, I have confirmed that rear evaporator core failures are being reported by numerous 2021–2023 Expedition owners, many of whom describe identical failures at relatively low mileage. These failures often result in costly repairs ranging from $2,000–$3,500. While Ford has issued Technical Service Bulletins (e.g., TSB 22-2089) related to evaporator and sensor issues on Expeditions, there is currently no recall or extended coverage program for rear evaporator core failures. However, the pattern of owner complaints, dealer diagnoses, and additional NHTSA filings shows that this is a known defect affecting a critical vehicle system. Given: •The premature and widespread nature of these failures, •The documented safety concerns raised in NHTSA complaints, and •The high financial burden placed on customers for what appears to be a design defect, I contacted my local dealer who filed a claim with Ford customer support. My claim was immediately denied and they did not offer any financial support. The year of the vehicle was within 3yr/36,000 warranty however current mileage is ~44,000 and exceeded threshold for warranty assistance.

Bought [XXX] at Corwin Ford Reno Nevada. April 2023 vehicle had sporadic transmission issues - slipping randomly. Took it in and explained the issue. Told there’s no transmission person. Nothing was done and told to continue to drive it. [XXX] Vehicle ended up going into reverse on its own at a stop light. Took the car in and given the same story, were completely back logged and could not get the car in. Car also had an active recall on it, never was looked at because they stated back logged until mid 2024 and couldn’t schedule an appointment. Asked for a loaner vehicle, told that’s not available anymore. May 2024 went into reverse again on its own. Called to get it in, stated they could not make any appointments at that time. October 2024 engine intermittently began revving on its own up to 4000RPM. Told no transmission mechanic was available. We were told there’s no more loaner program, transmission mechanic is 3 months out and there’s nothing that can be done at this time. Asked us if we wanted to pay $2500 for preventative maintenance and fluid top off on the vehicle though. [XXX] the rear AC went out on the vehicle also. There is also a new recall on the vehicle for the fuel pump and a loss of fuel pressure. These are all a massive safety concern for our entire family (4 kids + 2 adults) and for the general public. Ford is refusing to take responsibility for these issues and are making it very difficult for us to work with. We have a [XXX] who has [XXX] and we need a reliable vehicle to transport him to and from doctors appointments. The vehicle has a full warranty on it also. 1PE24019 · Low-pressure Fuel Pump Failure
Opened Jul 29, 2024 · Closed Sep 19, 2025
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Fuel System, Gasoline:delivery:fuel Pump
On July 29, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE24019 to investigate complaints of low-pressure fuel pump failures in MY 2021 Ford Bronco vehicles. Some consumers reported that the failure occurred without warning while driving, resulting in a complete loss of motive power with no ability to restart the engine. Ford determined that several other vehicle models contain low-pressure fuel pumps substantially similar to the 2021 Ford Bronco, including the 2022-2023 Ford Bronco, 2018-2023 Ford F-150, 2022-2023 Ford Expedition, 2019-2023 Lincoln Navigator, 2020-2023 Ford F-250-F-550, 2024 Ford Super Duty Chassis Cab, 2024-2025 Ford Ranger, 2020-2023 Ford Explorer, 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, and 2021-2025 Ford Mustang. ODI's investigation found that the affected vehicles may lose fuel pressure and flow from the fuel delivery module (consisting of a low-pressure fuel pump, jet pump, reservoir, and other parts) due to a low-pressure pump failure. This can cause the engine to stall while driving. The root cause is reduced internal clearance in the fuel pump, increasing friction and sensitivity to vapor lock. Fuel blockage from contamination inside the jet pump also contributed to the failure. Ford stated that the contamination source was unknown. On July 7, 2025, Ford filed recall 25V-455 for certain 2021-2023 Ford F-550 SD/F-450 SD/F-350 SD/F-250 SD, 2021-2022 Lincoln Navigator, 2021-2022 Ford Mustang, 2021-2022 Ford F-150, 2021-2023 Ford Explorer, 2022 Ford Expedition, and 2021-2023 Ford Bronco vehicles produced between July 1, 2021, and July 30, 2022. The recall also included certain 2021-2023 Lincoln Aviator produced between July 1, 2021, and December 21, 2022. Ford explained in its recall filingthat the production dates used for the recall were based on changes in the manufacturing process. Specifically, Ford determined that in June 2021, the supplier modified the jet pump manufacturing process, producing fuel pump chambers with a lower-than-specified internal clearance. In July 2022, the supplier implemented corrective actions to the manufacturing process by adding two additional vacuum pumps to reduce contamination during the production of the jet pump. ODI has identified approximately 1,000 reports involving vehicles covered in this investigation but excluded from recall 25V-455. However, even with such reports, these vehicles experienced comparatively lower failure rates than the vehicles that are subject to Recall 25V-455. Ford has explained that these vehicles were excluded from the recall population because they did not experience the manufacturing changes that prompted the recall. Specifically, according to Ford, vehicles built before July 1, 2021 (the recall production start date), were not affected by the supplier’s change to the jet pump manufacturing process. Even after closing this investigation, ODI will continue to monitor complaints for vehicles excluded from recall 25V-455 to consider whether they exhibit the same risks as the vehicles encompassed by the recall. The recall remedy is currently under development. In view of Ford’s recall action, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation, but will continue to monitor the issue as a remedy is developed and implemented. ODI will take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. To review the reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
